The AI will currently threaten you for money, techs, and planets, provided they're stronger than you. I'm not sure what Brad has planned for other aspects of communication between the AI and the player. I do agree, though, that the more they contact you, the more immersive the game becomes. We'll just have to wait for a frogboy post. ;) ScottT

Steevo, Several of the developers have their home computers hooked up with the necessary software to make a build, and I'm sure many of them will be working on the game when they get a chance (myself included). If things don't improve with a new build, I'm sure we can work to get those issues resolved. :) Good luck with the re-install. ScottT

Weird... off the top of my head i dont know why this problem would occur. Multiple starbases should give multiple bonuses, and while they shouldnt have a compunding effect, certainly shouldnt cancel out other starbase bonuses. We'll be looking into it.

Right now the names are in simply to differenciate one governer from the others (I felt the names "Governor 1" "Governor 2", ect were boring). Perhaps it'd help if you were able to edit the governor's name?

Should this be an option? I know players have commented that the Neutral interface is easiest to use...perhaps at the start of the game (as well as on the options screen) have a "Change Interface with Morality" toggle. You'll also notice the robot's change with morality as well. When you geta chance, check out the good robot. There's a subliminal heart outlined on the robots' chest plate...it makes me chuckle :)

Yeah, if the MP3 player in the game's as stable as it seems (when it's not playing 2 songs at a time), you should easilly be able to go into /galciv/game/music/ and change any of the space files to your starwars ones and it'll play in the game. Perhaps for a 1.X build we could even get in an internal MP3 player! :D I know a few guys at the office that would enjoy that feature!

Thanks to everyone for helping Exodius with the problem...and yeah, it does look like it may be a problem on our end. I swear by our little GalCiv community sometimes, you guys are the greatest! ;) Exodius: When I get in on Monday I'll tell Pat Ford about it. He's the one that made the DGM, and thus would be the one who knows how to fix your delimma. My appologies for all the hassle it's caused ya :( But hopefully the game will be worth it :) Take care! It'd be playable on your machine, but not flawless. My 400mhz PII/ 196mgs ram / win98 / crappy video card machine at home gets an average of 20 fps. My bro played through a few games on the system, so it should still be enjoyable...you'll only really see the hit on any full screen cutscenes, but even that should get smoothed out by release.

I've been thinking alot about the UI setup, and would it help if the interface would "build" itself as the game progressed? Take all the buttons that arn't applicable until later in the game and hide them (UnitedPlanets, Trade, even the ForeignRelations button on the main screen.) Then, as the player gets to the point where each button is needed, a popup will alert them to its presence, its purpose, and the option of going to the respective screen. This way, the user isn't overwhelmed with opt

Those are resources - single clicking on the will bring up a dialog explaing what civilization abilities it will improve. You can then plant a Starbase there to "mine" the resource and receive the bonus. The more mining modules you install on the base, the more bonus you receive.

Actually, that error is with the invasion screen, not the invasion music. It would crash if it couldn't find the Invasion.mtd file, so if this is the problem, just let us know and we can send you a copy of the file to the the game running again! :)

Basic Destabilization should be working. We fixed a problem similar to this prior to Beta 2, but (atleast on our test machines) the bug seems to be fixed. When exactly does the value get set back to 0? When a game is loaded, or as the slider is getting dragged? ;) We'll get to the bottom of this.

Perhaps we can have 2 options. "Abandon colony" would require a transport or colony ship to be in orbit, and would simply transfer the population to that ship and destroy all acheivements built on that planet. "Destroy colony" would wipe out the remaining population on the planet, as well as make the planet inhabitable by other civilizations. This would lower your morality, but restrict other empires from building there (if you no longer control that star system.) I

Hmmm...I didn't meen for any frustration on the matter. I personally like the idea of being able to dock at another races star system, given certain condidtions have been met. I also liked the ideas to have instances where certain sectors will cause your ships sto move slower/ have less attack power / ect. It's just displaying a fancy transparent nebula that would be a problem. All suggestions are always welcome...just realize that our team isn't as huge, so something has to be eas

Great idea! You get to close to a project and these kind of things go right over your head. My prefered setup... f1 - galaxy mode and mini-map f2 - toggle planet list f3 - toggle ship list f4 - domestic policy f5 - foreign policy f6 - technology screen f7 - extended ship data window f8 - influence screen for current sector f9 - autosave f10 - cycle to previous owned planet f11 - open planet screen for currently selected planet f12 - cyc

Sorry... 2nd paragraph 'you are allowed to dock one ship ' = 'perhaps you should be allowed to dock one ship ' You're not currently allowed to do this. :) But I think it'd be nice.

1. Sending a ship to "reserve" an uncolonized planet until your colony ship can make it there is (I think)unrealistic. Do you think a race is going to go "Ooops, i didnt realize ou were holding this system for youselves. We'll go find ourselves a new one. Sorry." Hell no! They're gonna say "Do I see your name on it?! I didn't think so!" and walk right past the star fighter/scout/whatever ship's stationed there to set up their colony. If you really don't want a planet to get colonized, you h
