Something I started doing for myself and figured I'd share my progress: Included are PNG (for custom race) and also DDS (so that you can overwrite the main files). I recommend backups and remind people that they are 100% guaranteed to be overwritten any time there's any kind of patch. To overwrite the vanilla civs, the PNG files go into the gfx\factions\logos folder and

If anyone is interested, I made this work in 1.5. Step 1: Download and install mod as normal. Step 2: Go to '...\Mods\StellarDiv\Game' and delete these files: MapSetupDefs.xml MapSizeDefs.xml PlanetArtDefs.xml Step 3: Open 'StarDefs.xml' and paste in the following: <InternalNam
+1 It would also be nice to have minors not use pictures/logos that are used for a major (like just auto-sub them out or something). I would be really happy with just a big "alien stuff DLC" pack for one of the dlc releases, with pics/vids/logos and a bunch of ship themes that maybe didn't make the final cut... I find that I conjure up quite a few custom races and there really ends up being a lot of asset overlap
I also think closed borders are a bad idea. What I would like to see, however, is the end of Starbases in other players' ZOC without either the players being at war or as part of an open borders/alliance/specific construction permission treaty. Already built bases would remain after treaty expiration, but you'd have to renew to build new ones or expand existing ones.
Hehe no worries. I now haz all ur modz.
Call me stupid, but which is the link for no nebula? Thx :)
I believe that is working as intended and is not a bug, the same way that when you get free ships, it is a one time thing and doesn't mean you get free ships with every new planet.
Well, between my bad German, Google Translator, and the download you hid in your post, I will muddle through lol.
Banned for confusing 'Rip-off' with 'Reboot'
Why psychotic squirrels were not a major race right from gal civ 1 is a mystery to me. And isn't Gossamer the name of a women's underwear company?
Yea, I'd second that. If someone could list all the files that the stock factions depend on, that would be cool. It would save a lot of 'Arg! It didn't work :( There must be another file I need to find....' trial and error time.
I think strong influence should prevent your borders from shrinking, but needs a serious border growth nerf.
One thought I had was that perhaps each tree could have 6 lines. Your first choice on colonizing is your primary ideology, which will allow you access to 4 lines, and your second choice would be your secondary, which would allow you 2 lines - or 6 if you repeat the choice. It makes sense that you could be mostly benevolent but sometimes pragmatic, for example, or totally benevolent etc. But I also think that once they sort out the points deduction when choosing, it won't be so ea
0.81 Lots of C2D/game freeze problems when using custom factions in multiplayer. Hard to load, start game and get past 3 or 4 turns even with both players having all the relevant files.
Ok. Thanks for clearing that up :) With little to no tooltip info, it was a bit confusing.
Is there some wise person (preferably a game dev) out there who can tell me exactly what all the resources do - the stuff you need a mining/xenoarcheaology base to use? Like, what bonus do they give and how does it get given?
Is the hard coded max number of planets around a star still 5 like in GalCiv II?
Troll thread.
Quoting Gaunathor, reply 2Even if it is, the 50 races should be easy to do once Custom Races are enabled. But unless they are done by Stardock or very dedicated modelers, we wouldn't get super duper 3D animated leaders!!!
Unless there was a 'customize leader' screen.....
The system is working as designed. IF those users had gotten just the alpha at $40 I think the odds would be high that they'd be on various forums saying how bad the game was. It is better to see people complain about the price of the Founder Elite Edition than seeing people complain about the alpha being an alpha.
True that. Look at all the raging (death threats to developers in extreme cas
Creativity doesn't seem to be in GalCiv 3. At least, I couldn't find it while I was looking through the files yesterday.
That's good news. On the topic of there being lots of races, I'd like to see at least one or two new ones made by SD and/or the players as part of each DLC pack.
I'm sure a lot of these things will have already been said, but here's some loose thoughts on what I'd like to see: 1. Claimable and useful Gas Giants. Perhaps like a research/other version of Asteroids? 2. A more interactive/developed U.P. system with some kind of resolution proposal mechanic using selectable parameters (drop down menus?) 3. All the diplomacy options we saw in GC2 and many more - 'Vote with me/against Lord Kona at the ne
Great - happy to hear that the core elements of what IMHO made GalCivs great will be maintained. I guess the spamming of (IMO) inane complaints from the interviewers really grated on my nerves and made me worry that the focus was shifting to make the game more casual .
I think your fears are perfectly rational. What I suspect you don't want to happen is for SD to 'Civ 5'
Following Fate's advice, I downloaded a Beta Update from the AMD support page for my ATI Radeon HD 6770M which solved the problem. Note: This problem did not seem to be related to the text install hang issue as the Steam Installer went through without a problem.
