I couldn't find any statements from the Congressman's office about the incident you are mentioning, but back at the beginning of March, he said: Congressman, this Pledge of Allegiance case is coming up. In your opinion, should the Supreme Court order the word "God" be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance? MCDE

Let me just say that I'm not saying I support the policy or the reasoning behind it--I'm sort of undecided. But, there is a difference between "knowing" that people are dying, and having the pictures in your face on every tv and newspaper you see. I'm sure that the Department of Defense knows more about troop morale than I do, so I am going to defer on this one. However, I do not disagree that morale on the homefront is VERY importan

TOURISTIFIED.... e.g. "This town has become so touristified, that you can't find the 'local' folks!" TOURISTIFICATION... The ongoing process of a town/place becoming touristified. I like those--describes perfectly where I'm living--I think my vocabuarly's just been expanded.

It is my understand that the policy is not out of concern for the families (that would be far too altruistic!) or because the Administration is trying to hide something (This isn't even a GW Bush policy to begin with--though it's being enforced with far more rigor since the start of this war). The policy originated so as to sustain troop morale. The idea is that if you show the mortuary at Dover over and over again and the troops are seei

Do you really have to believe SPM's stuff to enjoy reading it? I find it all quite amusing. I don't find the majority of his stuff amusing at all--stories about beating your wife into submission and firing peasants for no good reason (and then asking how they should be physically punished) just don't b

a descriptive name given to any male stating respect that one man has towards another. (eg. Hey dude, that's totally awesome!) hmm...I disagree that "dude" has a gender bias, but that's simply my two cents.

Carebear, There's a lot of history behind the SPM debate. Yes, you can prove that he isn't always telling the truth-- At one point, he listed the companies that had him on the board of directors--someone, I think it was Karmagirl or JillUser, looked them up and he wasn't even mentioned.

Jill: I'm back for another fun day at your house, I see lots has gone on while I was away. I ran to the market and picked up some Resolve for that juice stain . Also, I brought some bagels and coffee--playing the hostess all the time can be a drain on the budget, so I thought I'd pitch in. Looks like there's a bit of a mess to clean up from last night's gathering--I'm

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will. Just for the record, In <I

The release says they are not responsible That's just to convince you to not file. It's like the waivers that people make you sign saying that they aren't responsible for your death--they don't hold water.
