I'd be more worried about what else you've got running that is using 2.5Gb of page file Even if you do get the game started, with that much paging going on a 1.6Ghz processor isn't going to have a lot of spare CPU cycles...

Other than what's already mentioned, and the CTDs due to "ship not in fleet" or "path too long" errors.... AIs are occasionally building mining starbases where there are no resources. Confirmed by buying the starbase off them and comparing race stats before and after - no change to any of the stats. Also, the PQ resetting to base value on reload is still happening (and really annoying after a CTD, when you've optimised all your pl
One more thing for ship movement, have a line (similar to the way trade lines are drawn, but glowing/animated some way to show direction) for the path a ship will take on the way to its waypoint (have the waypoint glow/blink/brighter). That's in the v1.1 beta, and it is sooooooooo useful! <img src="
There are some CTD issues with the beta at present. Your best bet is to e-mail the .cra and .err files with details of how to reproduce the crash and a saved game if possible to [email protected]. That's why it's a beta...
Leaving ships, even unarmed scouts, within their planetary sensor range and not moving will be viewed by the AI as a military buildup on their borders. Depending on their AI level, they might notice this, might do something about it, and might tell you they are doing something about it.
I'm currently playing on a large map with lots of planets and the game crashes quite frequently (every 5-10 turns). I had a look in the debug.err files created, but the only unusual thing I could find were a number of lines like this one: e-stab - I had exactly the same thing last night. Sent a few sm
Can you zoom out and see if the Overlay symbol for a resource appears on the map? Thanks! BoogieBac, I've seen the same behaviour and there is no resource symbol when zoomed out - or apparent resource when zoomed in. In my game the Thalans had 3 of these mining starbases that were not mining anything
Only the Terrans and Drengin have the fully upgraded AI in the beta - other races have the new APIs, but not the algorithms to use them to their fullest potential yet, I believe. The Drengin in my current game certainly didn't make any stupid mistakes (other than going to war with everyone else because I asked them nicely).
However, next time I get a 700% manufacturing resource planet, I plan to build one factory, both capitals, and a bunch of labs. Not really optimal IMO - a planet with a +700% bonus should be producing enough on it's own to churn out ships in short order once you get to Industrial Sector. Much better t
Magnum or any other, if this is a 3 or 4 year event or will it be game long? Full game, I think. Had it happen to me once, but my economy was already well developed so it had very little effect (trade was only about 1500 income out of a total of 60K+). At that point you might as well leave the UP alt
I think I can put my "alleged" game three up to victim of the ctrl-n issue. Well, they've fixed that in the 1.1 beta by forcing you back to the metaverse login dialogue as soon as you hit ctrl-N. Currently trying out the beta - quite a few differences, will post an AAR over at the Core once
Gaah, my machine can't handle a gigantic map with everything set to common, occasional seems to be the most I can do. e-stab, I can manage all common OK, but it dies if I try abundant everything - P4 3.2Ghz, 2Gb RAM, XFX Geforce 7800 GS Extreme - so I hate to think what you actually need (got to be a dual core CPU at least). <TABLE
Now it's off to clean the death furnaces... It's clear from your fluffy little white goody-goody icon that the furnaces won't have seen enough use Damoose - try throwing a few billion of your own citizens in there next time - there's nowhere near enough red icons in this thread. <img src="http:
I would aim for a fully developed planet of: Colony 3 Industrial Sectors Starport 2 VR Centres Econ Capital Political Capital 12 farms 3 stock markets Maybe a 3rd VRC depending on morale resources etc in place of one of the Ind Secs. If military capacity isn't required then the Ind Secs & Starport would become Stock Markets. I build all planets towards max population for maximum economic return -
You been using CTRL-N LW? Here's a thread by Cari on the subject Interesting... I think I've used ctrl-N at least once in every game I've played, and had no problems submitting with any of them (yet)!
and it is possible that some good will come out of this discussion. It's also possible that something bad could come from it... Yes, there are some problems with the scoring, and milking is possible - that needs to be changed. No, we do not want a Civ3/4 style scoring system where the
I had a very similar problem recently - couldn't load a game without starting a new game first - CTD every time. Eventually tracked it down to a corrupted DLL in my sound card drivers. There is a new nVidia driver released last Friday - which looks to me to be a lot better than the v81.x drivers. There is also a 2005 SiS driver available for your sound card. I'd suggest updating both of those, and disabling audio hardware accelera
I'm sure the final release of the 1.1 patch will be available from the downloads section - it's only in beta right now, so it makes perfect sense to not have it there yet. The 1.0x update is still available in the downloads section - although, bizarrely, it is under the "Collectors Edition" sub-page.
Howdy Littlewotts. Good to see you.
Looks and sounds good. Really like the better ship designs the AI are coming up with. I noticed that the Terrans still built one of those annoying orbital fleet managers on a bonus farm tile though! In fact they all completely ignored increasing their p
OK - 3 obvious things from the debug file: 1. your sound card drivers are woefully old (you could also try disabling hardware acceleration for the sound card through dxdiag) 2. your pagefile is way too big for the amount of physical RAM installed 3. you're running the game at a resolution higher than your normal desktop resolution - change one of them so that they match Other things to try include turning off anti-alias
Just a thought, but did you own the Galactic Bazaar? That would make it feasible as it increases the value of trades on your side of the screen by 50%.
I can manually go to the planets and turn them off again but if the list of planets is long, its amazingly annoying You could always use the governor page (F6) and change them all back at once with 3 mouse clicks... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmi
Esp with the amount you are 'lugging' around with you Hey, maybe I should submit 5 quick losses and get the "Wounded in Action" gong too. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FF
Eyes is a requirement on a gigantic map for sure, but how are you all ignoring the Galactic Bazaar - it's basically a double strength Diplomatic Translators, not to mention the Restaurant of Eternity which means you never have to build an embassy or CIC anywhere & increases your early game influence area which means more tourism income when you really need it.
