My tip: take a 5 to 10 second high quality video loop (via, mpeg2) and import into adobe flash mx 2004 or later. save as animated GIF image and resize it to 768x1024. with the right compression you could have a high quality animated image. now add the image to your desktop and WALLAH!!! animated desktop. i do that because i myself can not afford anything but xp. and it's a lot better than using a program to do the work which will decrease cpu usage.

Wow... yeah... If I had to do that for every single animated wallpaper I would forget animated wallpapers after about a day.. or two.

So for a smooth 10 second animation that would require well over 300 very large images in GIF format, which, last I recall, only supports 256 colours. Yeah, that would look lovely. And totally not a large file.

Even fluid GIFs look stuttered on any res above 1024.

Why pay for bloat?

Check out Beryl on Linux when coupled with GLX or AIGLX.

You can flip the entire desktop like a cube and a bunch of stuff Vista can't do.

I hope you mean Vista, not Deskscapes as I fail to see the bloat in a proggie that uses the Windows GUI to swap dreams.

...... now if Deskscapes came with an integrated unzipper, a Desktop cleanup-wizard, a half-assed Burning program, an annoying User Account Protection and a weak Paint program, THAT would be bloat....

Truth be told, isn't Linux theoretically more bloat-ish with all its 2000+ dependancies?
After the big 2 fix their drivers CPU usage will come down not just in DreamScene but also DWM itself, trust me. And Non-DWM Vista is rather like XP.
And with Yod, 3D cube desktops are A-OK.

an annoying User Account Protection

Do you want to apply this video? It might contain substances harmful to you and your PC. Do you REALLY want to apply it?

Im glad i dont spend all my time flipping windows around.. looks like something with too much time on their hands would need.. to me.. Completely redundant as pertains to day to day use of my PC.

My 14 year old LOVES it though.
