Metaverse Submission problems

Metaverse Submission problems

As some of you have pointed out to us the Metaverse submissions have not been working for the last two days. The problem has been corrected and all the scores that were submitted were placed in a queue and I am currently processing that queue so your scores should show up shortly.

Sorry for the headaches.

FWIW, I'm in the same boat. Scores aren't being submitted, even though they used to - same machine and everything. let me know if there's something I can do to help you hunt this down.

Thanks, If you get a chance, could you pls check for the 1st game I submitted? It is not showing up and was worth 200+ points. The 2nd game I submitted is not negative anymore but pretty low points. Is it possible the 1st game got deleted?

I've managed to fix it by logging of, then on again and rejoining - this also fixed the no game submitted thing !

  • Geraken - In regards to the score submitted on June 3 but posted to May 7.  It appears that game is from the same saved game. You can only submit a game once.  When you submit the same game a second time it will update the data 1 time.  All future submissions are then ignored.

In regards to the submission results gripe....I am not familar with the code in GalCiv.  I just handle the Server side.  However, depending on connection time the submission should only take a brief moment (couple of seconds).   It is on our to do list to add response codes from the submission so that the user can be notified whether or not their game submission failed or not.  As soon as we get this feature in that will help clear up most of the problems/questions people have.

  • Michael Casey - Your scores appear to be showing up.
  • RXDOC - I'm not seeing any data received from you.  Are you behind a firewall?
  • Kokeaux - Looks like you keep resubmitting the same game.  You can only submit a game once.  When you submit the same game a second time it will update the data 1 time.  All future submissions are then ignored.
  • sgsmitty64 - You are submitting your games under the player name of Emperor Garrett yet you have sgssmitty64 as your player name. Visit, http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp, to change the player name you are registered with.
  • Blue Ocean - The last 3 games you submitted were under the Player name of "BlueOcean" but you are registered with "Blue Ocean".  Missing the space.  I corrected the name for you and your scores are showing up now.
  • TJL1 - I see you submitted a couple times  yesterday, the 10th.  Each of those games submitted was the same game that you submitted on the 9th. You can only submit a game once.  When you submit the same game a second time it will update the data 1 time.  All future submissions are then ignored.

Now a word about the the metaverse scoring.  With GalCiv build 1.044000 (aka ver 1.04a.062) a bug was introduced that is incorrectly calculating the scores.  Brad has been posting about this in other threads.  To correct the problem until we can get a new build out, all previous scores for this version have been recalculated server side to adjust them to where they should be.  And all new submissions are being recalculated as the come.  We apologize for the confusion and ask that you please be patient while we work on getting a new build ready.  Thank you.

T-Man, you are indeed the man! Thanks. I don't know how that happened, but I'll make sure to check next time. Thanks!

This response code is in 1.05. Good job.

Are any of the older scores going to be recalced (is that even a word? ;p ) to 1.05? I wanted to redo my 2nd to last submission which was a military victory for 2200 or so. With 1.05 it's 9000+. But I already submitted it twice because of the issues I had last month. Oh well, no biggy really. Just means I gotta get my latest game done to boost my score! :HOT:

Thanks a bunch! (Guess I shouldn't have been resubmitting over and over again thinking 'surely THIS one will work'!)

I have only managed to successfully submit a small percentage of my games. Usually when i hit the SUBMIT button, it just hangs there and does nothing. I have a Cable Modem and im always hooked up to the internet. Having Internet Explorer open doesnt seem to help.

my score of 6/8 went from -3000 to +100. thats seem very low for a gigantic game that took long time to win.

I am going to zero out the updated flags for all 1.044000 games so if you want you can update them with 1.05 and get a more accurate score.

Thanks, my newest game is showing up, but the 1st game I submitted over a month ago is missing. Any info would be appreciated.

T-Man,
did you ever look at the issue with people having scores submitted to both Drengin and Galciv accounts. Which is used depends on the order of installation. Not important, just interested,

Paul.

Solitair,

The issue at hand (re-explaining for the benefit of others) is that if you originally bought GalCiv and submitted scores via your GalCiv serial number and then later upgraded and registered Drengin,  your scores by default will then be submitted using your Drengin serial number.  So what you now have is scores that are submitted with both your GalCiv Serial and your Drengin Serial.  But since you can only have 1 registered serial number you will not be able to see all your scores.

So, I have implemented a work-a-round where you can convert your scores submitted via your GalCiv serial number to us your Drengin Serial.  Go to the Player Registration page (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp).  If  your Drengin Serial number is already registered then temporarilry re-register with your GalCiv serial.  No go back to the player registration page.  Since you are now registered with your GalCiv serial number you have a new option at the bottom of the page.  Enter your Drengin Serial number and click on the upgrade button.  This will covert your scores that are saved with the GalCiv Serial number to use the Drengin Serial number you entered and also re-register you to use that Drengin Serial Number.  So now all your scores should be using the Drengin Serial and should show up.

I don't have Drengin.net. Does this mean I can't submit to metavere? I tried about 5 times with same save file. I read T-man's post. I understand I can't use same save file over again. If that is the case, then where is my very first submission? Did my metaverse sbmission went throught?

I know it's been issue here. I'm sorry to bring this up again but it seems metaverse is not taking my submission. I followed all the instructions on this forum.

Success! I finally was able to submit my first score using 1.05.068. I uninstalled the game fully, reinstalled, but kept my save games. The game I got in was started and ended with 1.04.059.

When I originally submitted it, it said my Metaverse score was around 2300 points. Then, with the 1.04a.062 one (I think that was the one that had messed up scores), it said it was 25000 some points! Now, its back to 8000 points. Sheesh, I can see this Metaverse thing is going to be a beast for y'all to get straight. :notsure:

Still, considering I've been trying to get any game to submit for over a month now, I'm glad something finally took! This proves to me that it wasn't my computer or network configuration. Hurrah for T-man and Stardock!

Edit: hehe, there is a little blue(good), smiley face associated with my posts now. How excitin' !!!! ;)

Hi thanks for your advice all. However, I have a newd problem now, I guess this is the place to post it. When I'm researching Alpha Omega really late in the game and I get Morality Senarios coming up the game crashes (just disapears/: ). I've tried reinstalling and the latest Bonus patch but the saves (of which I have 2) still fluff-up. I appreciate the extra work going on to fix things . . . this is a truely awsome game!

Hi T-Man. I'm really confused.

Edit: Actually, see the end of the msg please.

I just finished a game started under 1.044 and finished under 1.05.

All AI on sub-normal

medium/common/tight

Cultural victory in 2191

The game reported a score of 5513, but it said all AI were set on beginner.

Then my metaverse score showed up on the metaverse as 390 (1.044).

It's not that big of a deal, really, but I really thought I played a good game, certainly better than my first, and the score is far lower. It kind of takes the starch out of what I thought was a good win for a non-strategy gamer like me.

I'm guessing there's nothing that can be done about this, but I was hoping to at least understand what happened. I can't keep straight all the changes with the scoring algorithm...was something weird with 1.044?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

EDIT: I see now that you posted earlier about clearing some kind of update flag so scores can get recalc'd. That's really great. What do I need to do?

Thanks again!

Are there instructions for successfully submitting scores to the metaverse? I've submitted numerous games and still have a score of zero (version 1.04). Am I missing something?

I've logged in and out many times as well to test previous theories. Any more suggestions? Feel free to copy and paste any posts I may have missed in this thread...but I'm pretty sure I tried everything.

HELP! Thanks in advance.

Running 1.05.069. Just tried to submit my first game to the Metaverse. Tried 4-5 times. Each time it said the submission was successful, but my score does not appear on the Metaverse. Any possible suggestions?

I also just tried to submit on 1.05.069. I only tried twice, but I've never had submission problems before today.
