It is my pleasure as a new senator of the MWC to congratulate all good peeople of fertile lands with incredible success that our empire achieved in the recent past.

We are not the fastest growing empire but the quickest to rise in ratings. Opportunities are excellent for new (and seasoned) players to make their mark on the face of Metaverse.

We are not asking anyone to defect from other respected empires. We are asking people of midlands (of North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Japan, all islands) to join MWC. If desire to help a real and noble cause will regretfully make you leave existing empire so be it. Be strong in your true aligence.

We defeated G.R.O.S.S, others are shaking seeing MWC make it's way up.

Celebrate if you are an MWC member. Join us and we shall go together to the glorious future of the Mid Western Confederation.

Thanx, Also.... I'm am having trouble with my Influence. How can I get that to shoot up like the AI's early in the game?

You need to research diplomatics techs and built the wonders related to them, and also you could build spacestation around the AI planets.

JordanVMP helped me out here. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the ability of the cultural resources to magnify your influence. In my maso games, I had basically resigned myself to not getting any resources. Even though I won, I could not culturally flip a system very easily.

Not any more. If I stumble across a cultural resource I plant a constructor next to it and somehow get the alien races to fight over it. The instant it disappeared, I pounced on it. These can play a huge factor in a game.

Pacem - the influence game is my personal favourite. Hop over to the Strategies forum and look at the thread "Winning Maso with no military". It contains a lot about influence (including my plan of attack). YOU may not want to go the whole nine yards this way, but you'll get an idea of how to boost your influence.

You bet dude! Hey - we just have the little matter of the Euros to take care of, and then...well...corn on the cob is one of my favourite things... ;)

Dont let the empire stuff stress you, either. The hardest thing, if you're going to be a stayer, is to find a group you like to play with. I think I've got that for sure this time, and the MWC has always been a solid crew. Go farmers!

I can't agree more about the empires. The MWC has been near the top for as long as I can remember and we have a great mix of veteran and new players.

Go check out my Metaverse Activity thread for the past week. You guys did some real score bombing.

WOW!

I suspect it is not all from "new" games, but nice move to be in striking distance of the Euros.

kasualkid - that Activity stuff is really impressive; along with all the other cool stuff you, idle and the others get up to. I've checked out the empireapp too, very good stuff. I think empire "Activity" provides good feedback for the members of any empire - good on you for the work you put in! :CONGRAT:

I always park my constructors next to any resource I find, because given time the AI will always fight with each other, and then I can get almost all the resources. If I'm very impatient, I might bribe them to fight, but I usually just let them hate eachother naturally. :)

Mayito, sorry if it sounded like I was attacking you, but I was getting kind of sick of people saying nobody else was playing in the MWC, and all the flipping empire hopping has gotten on my last nerve. Thankfully, it looks like that's finally dying down for now.

Why wait? You should have cash coming out your ears from all the trade routes with the AIs, so just buy their resource SBs for 6k-15k apiece, no problem ;)

I dunno, they seem stubborn about that in my games. Unless I'm way far ahead in tech and money, I can't manage to buy them. Plus, I usually don't have that huge of a surplus of money in my games. I think I max out my production too much with starbases and such, so running at 100% doesn't give me too much extra.

I have been successful a couple of times, but you have to get them when they are undeveloped. If they have a lot of modules installed, it has been impossible for me to offer the right price. :notsure:

Strange, I'm able to buy completely developed resource SBs for a mere 17k generally. Of course, you'll be hard pressed to get that kind of deal without a significantly higher diplomacy bonus than the AI...

In my games, I have diplo bonuses from my government and abilities (+80) I think, plus I usually get diplo translators or purchase them from a minor - for some reason the majors dont go after the diplo trans as their first pick.

When dealing with large alien empires, I know the big boys will likely war with each other eventually and I will try to steal their starbases later during the fight. The smaller aliens who got a bum deal on the colony rush might get bought out. I did that with the Yor in my current game to keep them around longer. They got off to a bad start and were a one system wonder, so I bought their two resources with a generous aid package. They surrendered eventually, and I was the lucky recipient of their home system. (I know I could have invaded them and taken it all for nothing, but I am still being pacifistic. Evil Gerakken is on vacation still.)

Boy it looks like I missed a fun little dialog this weekend. I posted a game on Thursday then took off for a long weekend. Looks like we jumped up to second for a while there and we heard from some former MWC'ers. Kryo when are you coming back, you know the force is stronger in the MWC. Anyway lets push back into second. I plan on starting another game tonight. Hopefully this "Hot" spell will last through the winter. Because once the brats and the beer come out in the Spring it will be hard to keep the farmshands engaged in Galciv. ;)
