The White Council Invitation

The White Council Invitation

The intent of the White Council is to band together a community of gamers who are interested to Galciv regularly and to contribute to improving the game while being useful members of this forum.

The pre-requiste for a White Council member is basic commitment to the above purpose. There is no requirement for you to be as clinical a finisher as "I can win in my sleep" Staffa or have the workrate of Sergey the dark horse/black sheep. :)

You might ask as to why you should join the Council where you could be a regular contributor by yourself. The White Council is an opportunity for you to belong to a small community within the big Galciv one. You would also be assured of help or assistance from your fellow Council members as needed.

If you are keen to join the Council, follow this link and click Join http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=329

Undead Canucks....ewwwww! Where are these damn Canadians, anyway? Haven't been able to get a sheep near 'em.....

"Kudos to you wizard folk. You have overtaken us simple midwesterners in the metaverse. Your powers of persuasion are great and after a brief hiccup in your rise you seem to have begun the process of redeeming yourselves. While we simple hardworking farmboys may not have the magical powers you wield so carelessly we shall not hesistate to forge our proverbial plowshares into swords and fight you off. So I say to you again, congrats on your renewed vigor but beware the simple worker empire of MWC, we shall not stand by and let your magic rise without provocation."

Gracious words from a worthy opponent. We are certainly looking forward to a most interesting battle at the top of the Metaverse.

BTW, I hereby dub you Commodore Plephart - you can now go ahead to amend your sig.

Undead Canucks - Again Gerakken outdoes himself in his creativity.

They certainly remind me of the zombies I played against in many strat games. Relentless in their pursuit of the unholy grail, never breathing a word but ever present.

So the Metaverse now has the following active empires -the Pirates, the Farmers, the Wizards, the Undead, the Galahs, the Warlords, the Legionnaires and the Spiders.

What's a good name for the Euros? The Politicians?
dammit, we remain 55 points below the Farmers, never thought I would see a margin so small.

to Ray, Who are the Legionnaires and the Warlords and what are Galahs!?
If you have the patience to search the GROSS Threadzilla, you will see that I have spotted a 0.4pts (IIRC) difference between the Euros and GROSS before. Truely amazing that such minor score differences could exist between Empires. The cliche that every man counts comes to mind.

The Legionnaires are the Republic. They remind me of Rome. I like to call them the Gladiators as well.

The Warlords are the Apolytonians. They are a bunch of hardcore Civ addicts on Apolyton.com.

Galahs are the ANZACs. That's their new mascot. I've posted a brief review of the Galah bird in their thread.

Ahhhh. Thanks for the explanation. Well I've posted quite a few, but I haven't really introduced myself yet.

I'm studying in Boston, but I live in California. I'm a student and have a really boring job, so I do this to cure the ennui. I've played since 1.01, but never had the internet connection to submit.

So any active bodies on the White Council come in and say hi.

I had the pleasure of visiting Harvard when I was in town on a business trip. Very cool atmosphere over there, very different from my university in Singapore.

Well, I'm a 29yr old Singaporean working in the port business, doing business development. Main gaming interests are RPGs and TBSs.

Actually you mean to say, it's a very cold atmosphere over here.

Sure it's warm now, but during the winter you'll freeze your butt off, and the winter is 5 months long, too. Some people blame Artic/Canadian air for the freezing weather. Some people blame the Canadians. Regardless of the reason I'm not one to stick around after I graduate.

btw studying at MIT, just down the river

Harvard people are stupid :p

Thank you, thank you very much. *blush* I try.

Funny you should mention that. They are my target tonight in my alignments revealed thread. I am starting the workup of the actual numbers now, but I already had an idea of what I was going to hit them with. I had christened their secret internet lair The War Room yesterday or so. So after I take a break and finish cranking out the numbers I will see how I read them again.

The White Council gather around their large oaken table, attempting their weekly divination of Tattslotto numbers and the winner of the fourth race on Saturday.

A small boy enters and stands, tapping his foot impatiently on the ground.

Ray: "Yes, young man? How can the august wizards of the White Council assist you? Do you wish to learn the ways of magic?"

Boy: "Don't be stupid....I'm HARRY POTTER!"
The boy whips out a wand and points it threateningly at the table.

Maike: "Wwwhat...wait, it's the wrong metaphor...we're Tolkein...you can't.."

Potter brandishes his wand: "STUPEFY!" A red blast hits Maike in the chest and he topples over backwards.
Wizards leap for their staves...

Potter: "Ha! Wands are much easier to carry! EXPECTO PATRONUS!" A great silver stag erupts from Potter's wand, tossing wizards left and right as it circles the Council chamber.

Ray: "BLAST that Rowling woman....damn young upstart and her childish magicians....

Potter Disapparates...a leaves a ghostly mark floating in mid air to remind the wizards of their foolishness...a giant smiley....

Hehe, I think Maike would be more greviously hurt if Harry had used the HARVARDISE magic spell.

The Council does not believe in retaliating against child wizards such as Harry. He would undoubtably feel the Call to join the White Council when he does grow up (though I hear Rowling is thinking of killing him off before his adulthood - poor boy).

Alright, I finished up another cycle of games on all map sizes (and morality incidentally). My jack of all trades approach has enabled me to achieve a Top15 spot on all map sizes and a Top10 spot on all morality boards. ;)

I've finally experienced the Draginol event after so many games. I proceeded to test the bug and it's true, you can extort 140,000bc for 100 turns immediately when they appear. I tested and found that even with the supercharged economy and 10 zillion credits in my bank, the final score was no different. I obviously didn't submit the bugged one as I didn't think the Metaverse would appreciate me for that.

I also got the variant of the Assassination event. Interesting thing was that my espionage was very high so it apparently can't be avoided. Dozens of Arcean corvettes appeared all over my small map. About a few in each sector and around a hundred in total. Fun!

Looks like we can't stay in second place for a very long time.

Yeah, those muggle barbarians just keep rushing the gates, wave after wave of them. But the Council has highly experienced mages. I am sure that some well placed spells of mass destruction can make a difference.
Oh, I forgot to add that it is the day of the undead. Quite apt that the Canadians would claw their way up the map on Canada Day. Poor magi. You definitely got zombie problems. Heck, even GROSS can smell the undead coming. They are close, too close...
what did I say, those sneaky bastards, they are only a shadow behind you but you can never tell until they have you by your necks.

a little warding spell should do the trick, will take a bit of time though and another 20 thousand Metaverse magic points

Harry Potter again returns and before anyone can react points his wand and levitates all the wizards such that they can't get to their staves. Don't even try Ray. I know who you really are. Your false latter submissions cannot fool me. Your first ones reflect your true nature. Bellatrix. I'll be back for your master Voldemort. Harry than departs with a flash as the wizards tumble to the floor, with a dirty look in Ray's eyes.

Seems like the Canadians just raised a few more corpses from their graves. The press of the Undead threatens to overwhelm the world of Meta.

Seems like only Maike and myself are holding the fort in the White Tower ATM. But that's all right, we get to share B1 and B2 for desert.

But if Harry Potter comes again, we are really going to subject him to the cruelest tortue - American and Aussie children shows!
I told you they were sneaky

You know Canadians can be characterized as zombies now, but the country is more like Gollum.

A sulking country that has two separate personalities, the French and the English, and sneaks around the world in the shadow of its powerful neighbor the US.
And quite a few are adept fishermen. The rest are farmers and cityfolk.

Went back and played a beginner game, damn was it easy. I remembered it being fairly difficult the first couple times, but going back, it's a real stroll in the park. I pointed and the civs obeyed. Somehow the difficulty showed up as suicidal. Probably a cross version thing, I loaded it up from version 1.03.

What was Pontius babbling about Harry Potter anyways, I took a look at it and deemed it unworthy of my attention.
