The White Council Invitation

The White Council Invitation

The intent of the White Council is to band together a community of gamers who are interested to Galciv regularly and to contribute to improving the game while being useful members of this forum.

The pre-requiste for a White Council member is basic commitment to the above purpose. There is no requirement for you to be as clinical a finisher as "I can win in my sleep" Staffa or have the workrate of Sergey the dark horse/black sheep. :)

You might ask as to why you should join the Council where you could be a regular contributor by yourself. The White Council is an opportunity for you to belong to a small community within the big Galciv one. You would also be assured of help or assistance from your fellow Council members as needed.

If you are keen to join the Council, follow this link and click Join http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=329

Cut it out, guys. We have more pressing matters on hand. The Undead threat is upon us.

Yeah junior wizard. Cut it out. There are just some things you don't understand about the relationship between G.R.O.S.S. and the council. So you can put that war stave down.

Ray: How do you propose to deal with the Cadaver's of the north?

Pontius, I believe I have pondered the wonders of a few moments of silence or studied the irrelevance of your posts or considered the amount of talking that goes into say so little. Have a little tact. Try creating something new instead of continuing tired old lines of thoughts or trying your best to tear apart the words of other men. Grekkan has some great creativity. I want to see him post more often.

Oh yeah, use the quote button or put ["quote"] and ["/quote"] before and after your quotes to highlight them in a white box. Just omit the quotation marks and use! Sometimes I can't tell who is talking when you post, just use it all the time!

And yes the undead are upon us. We are but a few, but we are strong and will not allow them to pass.

The many edits were to get ["quote"] to show up correctly

The Lich King has revealed their weakness to us in a moment of folly. It seems that bloodlust overtakes them when they are deprived of a certain poison in their system.

This poison is made using certain L-shaped wooden rods and a short cylindrical lump of rubber. We would certainly need more intel on this poison if we were re-introduce this back into them.
Do you know where we should administer the poison? We have to stick it in somehow. By the way, which part of the poison should do the penetrating? Is it the wooden rod or the cylindrical lump of rubber.

Hello!!! They have already overrun you. G.R.O.S.S. is the only empire to survive the onslaught at the moment. Though several resistance cells are noted among the other empires, it appears the zombies, vampires, wraiths, wights, and other undead creatures of the north are taking over.

I use the notepad quote out of habbit. I am aware of how to highlight a quote.
And I need not tear down your words. Your words do a splendid job of that themselves.

Now for those of us who don't appreciate the D&D TV Channel -

I've taken the plunge back again into Maso after tiring of Crippling. Trying a slightly new approach this time round and the start looks promising. Will share more with you guys if I do win (or lose gloriously).

With the new Xpack imminent, I wonder how many of you are Dregnin.net members. Pity that it is a pay system else I may want to take part in the Beta.

But I suspect they have quite a number of Dregnin members already to help them betatest.
Corporate machine looks like a interesting game, but I'm not so dedicated that I would like to pay to play multiple games or just to try the beta.

Although it's not exactly a great system for a beta testing, it cuts out the need to pick and choose beta testers and all the administrative bull---- that goes along with that. I've read quite a few despondent responses to the pay to play beta from the people at the forum.

Yes, people will ALWAYS NITPICK on the pros and cons of the system. Others will complain that this wasn't the way it was done before. So what GC isn't doing it, the way it was done before.

And yeah Ray, share some of your wisdom, and be sure to save some midgame scenarios, just so you can fine tune your strategy if you do fail the first time around. Of course, that's cheap, but this is for the interest of improving skill, so anything goes.

Poof! Here I am. I do not have any great suggestions at the moment for dealing with the undead, besides running faster than them. But the Euros are a different matter. Remember what tripped them up last time: feuding nobles.

Well, I got to run off and crunch some numbers for tonight's victim in Major Empire Alignments Revealed. And don't feel bad about one lost mage. It happens once in a while. GROSS has a couple of former pirates on detached duty out there somewhere and the MWC lost someone today as well. The Council will get more apprentices.

No worries, Gerakken. I know there are folks who are more floaters and like to move around. One of the key purpose of empiring is fun and if they are not finding it here, they should go find it somewhere else.

Yeah Maike, I'm not beyond reloading at times but sometimes reloading doesn't help because one AI could be in such a good position that it would run away with the game.

Aww Gunner. He's just mad because I owned him yet again and proved him a hypocrite. I guess some just cannot handle the old pie in the face technique. They just look into that mirror after I'm done with em and hate what they see. So they lash out at the messenger. :)

Grasshopper: Now that I've given you a proper beat down, I'll let you slide the rest of the evening.
Huh??

I see you misunderstand. You're just a nuisance to anyone who wants to make some progress. Not a messenger of any tidyings, but the advisor that mulls over ill possibilities. Who was that advisor in LOTR? It was Wormtongue, and he worked for the enemy.

Anyways, let's not get this started again. I'm tire of making my point less and less subtle. Besides I have no problem with being somewhat hypocritical, faults are faults, but the degree of the fault, that's what matters most.

Regarding the Beta testing, Brad was considering whether to also extend the Beta to non-Dregnin users if they had high enough access level (maybe Diplomats and above - most if not of them were the original beta testers anyway).

They will probably see if they have sufficient number of Dregnins to betatest. I suspect so.

Check out Chiacow, first to the 100 game mark. Incredible work rate on Tiny.

He could be the first to hit Rear Admiral.

Once again, let me exhort Council Members to support the GOTM facilitated by Michael Casey. This time round, it's the test of the rush which could be a good challenge for folks more used to a builder style.

Intelligent AI would provide a stiffer challenge than the last round.

Alright, I did some testing on Maso bonuses using espionage on Incredible AI in 2 maps.

Here's the results. Use at your own risk. Wouldn't be 100% correct but likely to be close.

Planet Quality +30%
Economics +80%
Interest Rate +15%
Diplomacy +30% (may be +20%)
Research +47% (not sure when its not rounded)
Morale +50%
Influence +50%
Trade +50%
Weapons +7% (funny number again but should be right)
Defense +15%
HP +15%

Difficulty in getting exact numbers relates to the different racial picks selected and anomalies found by the AI before I reach Medium espionage.

I don't know what the requirements are for this rank, or even if it actually got put in. It may not in fact exist. Oh but wait, you and staffa are here to go for that rank.. Oh yeah, it's just around the corner 70k and one more game in. I'm sure of it. Yup, yip, yep.

My divination tells me Rear Admiral is 40 games and 40,000 pts. There are a couple of us that are quite close so we shall see if that rank emerges.

*** War of the Ring ***

The Wizards of the White Tower were seated in council enjoying a much needed break between posting and playing-- indeed they were joined in celebration and marvelled at the great deeds they had performed, and the size of their new found kingdom.
Of course as in all tales of lore when the heroes gather in celebration and nothing could go wrong, something does. Without warning a large burly man bedecked entirely in green bursts into the feast hall. With a wild grin on his face he pounds his earthen cudgel on the table and abruptly the feasting stops. The strange wild eyed man looks RayChua in the face and says "I have heard your knights are among the bravest and most rightous in the Galactic Civ community. We shall see." Without warning the druidical figure grabs the nearest mug of ale, downs it in a single gulp, and continues.
Staring once more at RayChua he intones in a heavy voice "An evil has awakened in this land, that few would stand against, for it might tarnish their pristine scores. Yet every day this evil grows, and as men debate their petty metaverse ranking, it grows stronger still. Will you RayChua hear of my challenge?"
Quickly regaining his composure, and remembering his responsabilities as a host RayChua says "But of course, strange one, what would you have of us?"
"Here then is what you must do:"

Medium size
Tight Clusters
Occasional
Any race picks you prefer
Set Drengin AI to evil genius, pure evil
Set any two other AI pure good, bright
Set remaining two AI to chaotic good, bright
PLAY HUMANS ONLY AS GOOD.
Enable GC105 bonus pack.
Win and post a blow by blow account of how you did so here.

"Difficulty is only Tough, surely there must be one among you who could do this small thing?" The Green man sets his unrelenting gaze upon the assembled wizards and notices them quietly dropping their eyes.
"Redshift8? Maike Geng? KseAli? Will no one accept this charge?" The Green Knight lowers his gaze in disappointment, "Then Sauron has already won."

Challenge is accepted, Theleb K'aarna.

I, Ray the Wanderer, will take it up personally.

And is there a reward for such a quest, Theleb?

Not that I'm too interested in one but it would spice things up.
"And more more thing," The green figure pauses dramatically, "No using Ctrl-N, not even once. Take WHATEVER position fate dictates."

Fair enough, Theleb.

I accept this additional challenge.
"Reward? I thought you were heroes not mercenaries? Is freeing the land of the greatest evil mankind has ever known not reward enough?"
"Very well, I propose this: Should you succeed at my quest then within one week's time from said success I will reappear in your halls, and you may assign ME a quest which I will fulfill."

This is agreeable, Green Druid.

While you are here at the White Tower, feel free to avail yourself to our hospitality.

We have had some incursions recently but I'm sure you are more than able to take care of yourself.
