Updated 8.06 to .09 and reverted back right after the required reboot as Directory Opus was broken (both clicking on the desktop to get a new lister and right clicking to 'open new lister'.

Too bad. Hopefully figured out and fixed soon?

Same here.  Running DirOpus v11.8 and noticed after applying this update that it wouldn't launch anymore.  Reinstalled Windowblinds 8.06 and DirOpus is working again. But ... this is using Win8.1 32-bit.

When I tried WB 8.09 in Win10 TPZ 64-bit, not only does it work OK, but it doesn't hamper DirOpus, either.

So maybe, the updated version is intended for Win10 TP.

UPDATE: After this morning's boot, same problems as with 8.06 -- restart loop on desktop.

So, I was wrong -- WindowBlinds does not work with Win10 TP 64-bit.

I'm not testing anymore with Win10 because I already used two activations for these tests and don't want to risk my Win8.1 copy being deactivated!

Guys, I wouldn't expect help until after the holidays. I would advise not installing this update until an official statement has been made by Stardock/WC on the status of this matter.     Expires Jan 5, 2015 8:45 Stardock's offices will be closed in observance of the holiday season from December 19th until January 5th, 2015. During this time there will be a delay in answering support tickets, so we ask for your patience during the holiday period.  While we will keep tabs on the tickets during the break, we will respond to them as quickly as possible upon our return.   On behalf of the Stardock staff we wish you a happy holiday season and look forward to the new year!

Good catch RedNeck.  I burned up two activations - one trying to get 8.09 activated and to work and then another to get 8.06 back running.  I would be pretty aggravated if I had to wait two weeks waiting to get my activation count adjusted.  Unless I hear success from folks who are having the same Directory Opus issue as me, I'll wait this one out.  I'm sure it will eventually be corrected.

I had to disable Malwarebytes and Windows Defender (Win 8.1) to get the update to install correctly but now Malwarebytes will not run. I get "Instruction tried to access memory location 0x00000000. The location could not be read. Help?! :omg:

On a slightly messed up note:

I uninstalled 8.09 and rebooted and re-installed 8.06, but some components of 8.09 did not completely uninstall. So now 8.06 identifies itself as 8.09 and Direcory Opus works again.

Firefox seems to be working also. Titlebars and all are working fine. So far.

Funny, but I thank the lord for these favors.

Also getting the "Invalid image list" message in Skype, but only when clicking on the first menu "Skype".  Also right click menus in Skype have the menu choices tightly scrunched together on top of each other.

Also had an issue with installation.  It wouldn't take my product key.  But, it did validate my account via the online option.

When trying to update WB and WFX through Object Manager, I'm asked for my serial code and e-mail.

I have also tried downloading from my account downloads with the same results.

Click, and I get an error code 202. Thank God for system restore. Guess I'll not be updating for awhile.

Anyone else with this problem?

Updated to 8 8.09 and Zakbat xplorer2 will not open.  Reverted back to 8 8.06 and xplorer2 Pro version 2.5.0.4 x64 is working fine.

I upgraded on Windows 7 and now Skype won't work. Everything you click on just says "Invalid image list.". So I uninstalled Skype, cleaned the registry several times, re-installed and same issue. Sure Hope I can get the older WB (8.06) from someone.   OK, went back to WB 8.06 and Skype 7.0.59.102 works fine now. Hope no one else has the problem.

Had the same Problem on Win 8.1, but fixed it like you did!

howdy all and merry christmas/happy holidays.  I realize that support is off for the holidays, but this is probably a stupid question anyway :-)

I'm running Win 7 on this machine and my current WB version is 7.42.  Is this the latest version for a Win 7 machine or should I be running WB 8.xx?  I figured that WB 8.xx was for Win 8.1.

Thanks,

David

Actually, the latest version for Win7 is 8.06 (Windows 7 Edition).  The 8.06 installer knows your OS & installs the correct files.

And Happy Holidays to you, as well. :)

Where did you read that at?  o_O

There is no distinction between a Windows 7 version and a Windows 8 version. The latest version of Windowblinds is for 7 and 8. Will be that way going forward until support for 7 is dropped.

The installer will know if you use 7 or 8. The file you download is the same either way.

Tom, that info would be in the "about" section of the WB Config window.

Also the Systray Tooltip, Tom.  Miracle of miracles. ;)

Understood, but 8.06 was not just for Windows 7, works on Windows 8/8.1 just fine. WB 8.09 is also for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 (but evidently with LOTS of issues). It should never have been released before a major holiday, especially if there was to be no support available for over two weeks after releasing it.

On Windows 8, it'll say 8.06 (Windows 8 Edition).   X|     :P

I should prolly start a new thread about the strange things that WB does on windows 8.1. But I don't think I should bother seeing as all issues I have reported lately have been ignored by Stardock.

Take it as it is, folks.

Version 8.09 is not showinf me not my stardock account or in OD manager ? even have it set to show beta's ? not sure whats going on there

ODM is very wonky & irrational, has been since its release.  Just opened it & it shows no Stardock apps installed at all, no updates available, no subscriptions (I have active Object Desktop & Wincustomize subscriptions).  The MyAccount page at the Stardock Store always seem to be correct, though.  FWIW.

Uninstalled WB 7.xx, rebooted, installed the latest offering of WB 8.00 which turned out to be 8.06. Doesn't look as though there is a 8.09 update anywhere.  Not on my Stardock account anyway.

I would imagine that they pulled 8.09 everybody because of all the issues it was having. It disappeared from my store listing and Object Desktop Manager too. Wise decision on their part.

I agree, 8.09  needed more work.

Try logging out and back in again. That's been working for most people.

You were right, Wiz.  That fixed ODM.  As Tom & werewolf have noted, no 8.09 to be seen there, though.
