Hello Jedi! In case you missed it, RB is sponsoring another set of succession games. Since many of us at RB have been playing Civ3 succession games since we were knee high to a lightsaber, it seemed a natural progression for GalCiv. Our first game was a rousing success, and we are looking to jumpstart three more games before the next patch/expansion. I know several of you have been playing succession games within your own empire, but please consider our games.

Yes, that is right, there is a system of diminishing returns for submissions within the same 30 day block. I just submitted a game that also added 2000 pts to the score.

I believe the mighty centurion Alexus, formerly of the Jedi, has an Excel spreadsheet that will calculate all of this to within a point or two. But in a nutshell:

- ALL of your scores are divided into 30-day blocks from your last submission;

- First game in a block is worth full points. Each additional game's Metaverse points are divided by the square root of the number of games in the block.

- The current block is scored at full value. Blocks age as they are bumped down the list; I THINK score aging stops after 6 months, but don't quote me on it.

This scoring system can lead to some odd results. On the square root system - if you have some games with significantly lower scores (lower difficulty, Tech wins, etc.) it's even possible for a win to REDUCE your score. On the aging system - if you go a full month without submitting games and "skip" a block, your overall score will probably DROP with your first submission (even at full points!) due to aging.

Come to think of it, I'm looking at that situation now (grrr...)

If you manage to put some breathing space between yourselves and the farmers, you have a bit of a break before the next challenge - the Euros and their deadly paperwork attacks. Recommend that you take care of them before April 15th. Think about the damage a European form attack could do during U.S. income tax season... :SURPRISED:
