Welcome to the Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread - The Sequel. :)

Congrats vincible on the double 1000!

Congrats to all in the Fellowship for achieving the 1000 battles landmark! :CONGRAT:

Just checked the empire page. We are in fact on 1001 battles. U sure you got the 1000th, vincible? ;)

Quite sure :) I checked right after submitting my game.

I'm willing to share the glory if someone else has a convincing claim though ;)

That game was crazy. This was with luck +100. As soon as 2191 started, I began getting a whole slew of rangers. I think it was eight. They stopped coming in 2195 or so. I also got the Dread Lords and more morality events than usual.

My next game will be with a very large Creativity score.

Played a very short 1.49b game which unfortunately cannot be reloaded.

The Alexians did not buy during that game and since Frogboy said that the AI is the same as 1.13, it means that even the Alexians do not always buy techs for cash in Maso. Playing a new 1.13 game now and both the Alexians and Caris are buying.

I wonder whether there is a systematic reason behind whether minors will buy or not.

I'm currently playing with a whole host of mods including very old ones like JesusofBorg's terraforming ones and photon mines. Will let you know my opinions on some of them at a later date.

Hey gang! Just submitted my little morsel for the pile. Congrats to vincible for the 1000th game and post!! :CONGRAT: Great timing!

I am (for the moment) back in the Top 25, but that won't last long. I haven't been able to d/l AP yet, Christmastime is really starting to crank up. I'm just glad I got to finish this last game!

Congratulations to all members of the Fellowship for all your loyalty and dedication! We couldn't have made 1000 battles and first place without each and every one of you! We can all be proud that we have been and still are the best empire in the Metaverse. I see Ray's very active in debugging/playtesting AP and we are still the most active on the Strategy forums. Keep up the good work and everybody have a great weekend! :HOT:

No Galciv for me for at least a week and a half. I'll be visiting my parents in San Francisco. I'll probably still check in on the forum on occasion though. Hopefully by the time I get back the major bugs in Altarian prophecy will have been fixed, or at least isolated.

just gave FOTR a Xmas Present.. another 60,000 score from Smeagol :)

put me in 13th place.. Lucky for some.. ;)

I've also played the least number of games to get there :) only 24

but its 2 steps forward and up to 8 steps back inbetween games for me.. as I can only seem to get in 1 gigantic maso rare / week .. (playing for 2-3 days straight.. thats up to 12-18 hours a day) most games last till about years 2260-2300

My method mightn't be the quickest but it seems to be very sure to get 60,000 / game and at about 4 games / month that means that my games are really only worth 30,000 thats about 10,000 / day.. any more games than that and I don't think that my sanity could take it without burning out

My hat goes off to those who can score similar to me in a lot less time.. (I wish i could but every time i try to alter my playing style i end up loosing big time)

Copyed from the Anzac msg thread (trying to inspire some input from others..)

I'm waiting for input into my story from council Members of FOTR as to which rings I am able to locate.. If you guys have been following my story..

for those who havn't here is a summary

The ANZAC Republic Got overrun by disgruntled citizans with the lack of my ability to retain overlords (no.. the revolt was not the players of the game... just in my story ) they burst into the palace and tried to assasonate me.. but they failed.. i'm at present in a comma.. my spirit was ripped away prior to death by some unknowen beings for they needed my abilities to help them obtain something for them. and depending on my spirits abilities to dominate over the other spitit that co-habitats this frail pittyfull looking body (Smeagol from Lord of the rings) prior to smeagol gaining his goal of finding the item he seeks.. then and only then .. if i'm successfull will my spirit be returned to my body (or so i've been told) if I'm not successfull then I might never be able to return to my body...

But alas even with all my probing and proding I still havn't found all i'm looking for.. and await other members of FOTR input into my story...

Well done on another hard fought Maso victory, Smeagol.

Play at your own pace, don't worry too much about the number of games submitted. :)

Apologies regarding my lack of contribution wrt story writing, going through a dry spell at the moment.

I've been trialing a new online multiplayer (currently only 1vs1) collectible card space 4x TBS game called Star Chamber.

It got a very good review at Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/starchamber/index.html).

You can play sample games online as a trial player and I played 5 games yesterday. I've been looking for a good TBS multiplayer game to play online and I think I've found it.

Each game took an average of 1/2 hr and it was very intense. Frequently the game swung on the correct deployment of a single card or a single move.

I especially like the fact that the three victory conditions of military, cultural and political are balanced and requires trade-offs.

I played 2 games against vets. Lost the first (he used his personal deck but trial players can only use a sample deck) but gave the second a good run for his money. He sent a huge fleet and oblitered my homeworld defense fleet but do not have enough influence in terms of citizens to capture my homeworld (which would result in a military victory). I launched a desperate all-out attack on his homeworld with my remaining ships and almost snatched a military victory under his nose if not for some cards he played to defend his homeworld. Very cool.

Lost 1 and won 2 against trialists like me. There was one game that was decided by the first space battle. Both of us sent our starting scout and hero to a valuable artifact system. My opponent chose a race that gave him bonuses to his ships so his scout was stronger than mine (scouts can fight, there are only three basic classes of ships - scouts, cruisers, bombers). However, I played a Aegis Shield card on my scout which strengthened its shields and then a Raise Shields card on the next turn to repair its shields after the 1st round of combat. Killed his scout and hero and he never recovered from that setback. I won that quite handily. :)

If anyone wants to trial the game (it's free to trial) and play online with me, drop me an email at raywanderer @hotmail.com. Starchamber website is starchamber.net.

Good morning everyone!

Back to work on a Monday morning...oh, boy.

Have a great time, vincible! Ah, the holidays. Time for horrible traffic, long lines in stores, and seeing family you're glad you only have to see once a year! Happy Holidays! LOL

I don't think I'm going to download Altarian Prophecy just yet. There are waaaayyyyy too many bugs for me to feel comfortable doing that. I just started playing around with mods this weekend. I finally got Hawaii Five-0's Writer to work and created a little political party. Wonder where H50 is, anyway? I figured he'd be around when Altarian Prophecy came out.

Welcome to our new members! I'll try to update the Roster page on the website. http://fotr.galciv.org for those of you who haven't visited yet.

If I dropped enough hints to my wife for her to notice, I should be getting Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Christmas. If so, I'll need to juggle it and GalCiv!

Have a great day, everyone! Let's hope some of the bugs in Altarian Prophecy get figured out soon!

Thanks Ray. I didn't think tiny map game would ever end. The UP outlawed terror stars before I had enough enfluence to swing the vote my way. On the other hand, the small map game ended quite unexpectedly before I could even get my moral up. I built a lot of SBs early in the game (a constructor is pretty cheap and the AI sees the SBs as military strength) to keep the hostiles off my back. As soon as I could I took out the Dregin and the Arceans who were quite close to me (on the map). Next, the Alterians just flipped unexpectedly (unfortunate since they were my best trade partner at the time) which left the Yor and the Torians. Up to this point they'd been pretty busy warring whith each other and the occasional minor. The Torians were closer to me than the Yor and they were weaker (smaller population) so I took them out after establishing new trade routes with the Yor. I then settled into the business of developing my economy and infra-structure. Everything was cool at this point and I was just waiting for events to happen so I could raise moral rating when the Fudamentalist event happened which of course ended the game right then and there! (:(

I've started a maso, medium, occasional, tight clusters now so we'll see what happens. ;)

Luv this game! :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:

I just noticed that FotR has a 532,524 point lead on the quickly rising Special Forces Empire. I think this is pretty amazing since as best as I can recall, our lead was less than 200k just last week!

Good job everyone!

Keep up the good work and remember we must remain vigilant through these chaotic times in the Metaverse!

It’s hard being first!

Long live the Fellowship!

Seems like wanderlust has taken hold of some Overlords.

Quiet times around here too.

I'm personally enjoying myself with Star Chamber at the moment but will be active once the Altarian Prophecy Beta moves along.

No one wants to try Star Chamber? Was hoping to go plant the Fellowship flag over at that universe as well. :)

Holy cow. My average game ends between 2195AD and 2205AD. The longest-ever went to about 2228AD and was a tech victory.

Everyone knows by now, I don't prioritize scoring. But even so, seems to me that I get more Mpts per hour of play time than Smeagol's approach nets.

I could not imagine dragging the game out that long. What is so fascinating about 60k? As far as I can tell, ANY conquest victory on gigantic will net 60k. I've spammed terror stars (and paid for them legitimately) in around 2202AD on a gigantic and scored 60k. Even one planet challenge tech win on Huge was done by about 2226AD or so. I forget the exact date. :) Wow, could not imagine hitting next turn enough times to reach 2300 without my mouse clicking finger falling off. LOL

With Christmas and my home life, I'm lucky to have time for GalCiv! LOL Have fun with Star Chamber. I get the feeling after Christmas I may get pretty involved in Knights of the Old Republic. ;)

To all in the Fellowship: Have a very Merry Christmas! Be safe in your travels and I hope you all enjoy your time with your families and friends.

I may give star chamber a try when I get back. Problem is I have a really big general exam at the end of January which will probably suck up most of my free time.

If I'm playing for speed I finish a Large game in 3-3.5 hours. I don't remember the ending date. Typically the milking stage is less than half an hour.
You guys play fast. I am usually sitting here listening to Mozart or Prokofiev or Stravinsky and finally go . . . "Whoops. Oh yeah. It's time for another turn of Gal Civ." Then it is back to listening to music. I try to make myself as inattentive as the AI so it is more fair. If I play too fast my wrists hurt and I get burned out because it becomes "work". LOL.

Sometimes I milk the tech tree at the end and sometimes I get to "Beyond Human" and say "forget it - this game must end!!!". :D

The new beta where the Alexians pay no cash on maso will be interesting. Lately the Alexians seem to be on the other side of the galaxy and get bumped off before we can trade. That sure puts a drag on jumpstarting my economy. A few games back both the Alexians and Carinoids were trading cash and life was good. It is still amazing how location and random events can turn the game on its head and make it very replayable.

Happy holidays. :)

Just added a few more points to the pile! A little Alliance victory. Nothing special.

Merry Christmas everyone!
