Welcome to the Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread - The Sequel. :)

The old FotR thread was getting too big and it was taking too long to load the thread, thus this new one.

Since this is the first post, I will reproduce some of the more important links for our Empire.

Nice. But I'm tempted to steal that sword-bearing robot now that you're not using it :)

Just catching up on several days of posts. Lots of funny stuff :)

I'm curious. Of your time at "work" what fraction is spent actually working? As opposed to gossiping with coworkers, checking the forums, daydreaming about committing war crimes against the Altarians, and so on?

It's hard for me to give a number since I do a lot of work at home... but I'm wondering what life will be like once I'm done with grad school.

Not too much the last couple of days when you look at my posts :) I run reports most of the day, so I post while they are running. Nice job really.

Sorry about the confusion, Vincible. I found your message from the 15th and the pic is on the way, or already there. ;)

I like all these merchandising ideas from the Fellowship...although I'd watch that Theoden. "King of Gondor"?! Hmmm...I think SOMEONE has stumbled on to the Ring of Power :SURPRISED: Look out Ray!

Well latelly it hasn't been much, but I cannot be very specific, who knows who may drop by and read my "confession" ;) . But one thing is certain, in the mid afternoon, when my working days starts to looks like it will never end, reading and posting here does help things go faster (I guess it's the same approach that says that a watched pot of water never boils...). It does not improve productivity, but you can't have it all...

Good week end every one. I spent my day yesterday waiting for the AP beta, but due to time zones, only got it now (late morning, saturday). As always, I was so eager to try it, that I forgot to archive my previous version. I never remember to do that! I hope it will work fine.

Well, a few years ago, everybody (parent's friends) kept telling me to "enjoy those years, they won't be back". Every time I used to thought to myself, "that's the same thing for all the other years, isn't it? I guess it's just them who forgot how to have fun".
Well, now that I've been working more and more, with less and less time to do what I want, and with all kinds of barriers (specially monetary ones), and in spite of all the time I spend at work *not working*, I can only tell you "enjoy those years, they won't be back"... ;)

I'm not too far behind you. It did get better when the kids made their own way and now it is just me and my wife. He's right though, enjoy it now!

You are very entertaining hobbitfolk!

Hi everyone,
I've just started 2 games (making up for the rest of the week :) ). One tough/gig/rare, in which at the end of grabbing race I had 8 or 9 systems (which is usually what I have in the end of my medium games) and one AP beta, small galaxy, with everyone in it. The new faces make it for a far more complex strategic game, and the logistics is a big factor in starbase management: I saw a resource available after a war between some of the other guys, and as usual rush build a constructor to grab it (with a ship garding the resource for me). When the constructor arrives, I'm informed that since I have 3 starbases already, this one will cost me 750 to construct :SURPRISED: ! "Maybe not, sir, I was just looking ... very nice resource you have there ... I'll talk to my wife and come back, ok?".

"and the logistics is a big factor in starbase management" in fact in my case, the lack of it is the most important factor. I wonder where it is hide in the tech tree (if there is such a tech already, or if for now it's just a scale cost.

Except for a few bugs goods (apparently I received 10000bc at somepoint, after a revolution event or something like that --- I posted details in the bug thread) and bad (I have a Paladin stuck in the last month of production: it has been the last month for months!) the game is really good. I think some bigger games in it can be a real challenge.

Hi all. Just checking in. Hope everyone is doing well. Welcome to new empire members. Thanks everyone for submitting games.

I have been busy lately with real life stuff so I submitted a huge maso that I had saved on the hard drive for "times like these" when I have trouble submitting one game per week. Right now, I am half way through a gig maso but have no more finished games saved. :SURPRISED:

I am going to watch the senior bowl American college football all-star game tomorrow and then next weekend, the Pro Super Bowl. Since American football season is nearly over, maybe I can play Gal Civ more. :D

Hello hobbitfolk! In case you missed it, RB is sponsoring another set of succession games. Since many of us at RB have been playing Civ3 succession games since we were knee high to a hobbit, it seemed a natural progression for GalCiv. Our first game was a rousing success, and we are looking to jumpstart three more games before the next patch/expansion.

See here http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=127933 for the details. This is a great opportunity for some cross-empire gaming, as well as an opportunity for some of the great players around here to give back to those who are still learning. Succession games are a great opportunity for those learning the game to see how the good players play. So, please join us and help make succession gaming a regular part of GalCiv.

Cheers,
Bam-Bam

That's two! This one was very tough ... didn't think I'd survive a couple of times. I won't get four at this rate. ;p Oh well .... back to it! :)

I got it, Spellforce! Thanks!

Greldon: Outstanding!! If you can get three in it will be an accomplishment!!

I've got a Huge/Maso going right now. Had something personal take me away for a little bit, but I'm planning on jumping back on it.

Rick, good to see you again! Hope you can visit a little more now that football is over!

Well, gang...back to the game! :D
