I've managed to register galciv.org - and will host (free!) any empire websites as subdomains on that domain - eg jedirepublic.galciv.org or fotr.galciv.org - no adverts, no popups, plenty of space.

Server is a Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP box (basically RedHat Linux 7.3) with ample bandwidth.

OK - the DNS seems to have updated.

fotr http://fotr.galciv.org (fotr.galciv.org) and jedi academy http://ja.galciv.org (ja.galciv.org) sites are now available. More to follow over the next few days.

To upload either ftp to the site and log in with the agreed username and password, or use the web based interface as discussed.

Alex, if nobody else wants to do it, I'll handle the website for a bit. Although I want to make sure Obi-Wan sends over his source files for the roster bits if they aren't already in there so I can easily throw together bits for new members (like myself!) :D

Not a problem. Drop me an email at [email protected] and I'll set you up with what you need. Either Photoshop or Corel PhotoPaint will work just fine; you need a bitmap editor capable of working with layers.

I believe Paintshop Pro will work as well. The files are all across to http://jedi.galciv.org (jedi.galciv.org) and I'm just waiting for the DNS to update for it to go live.

No problem, I have PSP7 and PSD6 so either of those two formats will be fine (although I prefer PSP). I just hope they're not so big that they choke up my mail on my poor 56k modem ;)

The layered "template" graphics file isn't on the site - just finished JPGs. If you drop me a line on where you want it sent, I'll get it to you. Should be pretty small - at most, a few hundred Kb.

The site I'm not concerned about, its the source for the member bits that has be worried. I know from much experience how big multi-layer raster files can get ;)

OK - at them moment there are five empire subdomains either up or on the way

fotr.galciv.org (Fellowship of the Ring)
ja.galciv.org (Jedi Academy)
jedi.galciv.org (Jedi Republic)
anzac.galciv.org (Anzac - whatever they are currently - empire? kingdom? republic?)
evil.galciv.org (Evil Empire)

Note that you shouldn't use www if loading these sites.

I'll try and keep links to them all on www.galciv.org as well.

OK - fotr, ja, anzac and jedi are all working now. Evil will probably take another 24 hours...

The sites can be accessed either via FTP or the Browser interface (subdomain.galciv.org/admin2) both of which require username and password as arranged. Site stats are also available in the stats subdirectory - again requires username and password.

ok thanks Alex.. I've finaly got it working.. LOL a CASE letter out in username from what I had expected .. LOL
