There will probably be a shareware version of it eventually but it would be limited to only support Stardock's software.
You can make your own skin packs on your own system. It's just not integrated into WinCustomize. You just download the skins you like, run Convergence, and put the skins together.
Stardock's desktop enhancements are all part of Object Desktop.

Treetog would simply upload a single Convergence skin pack. You would download it and apply it. It takes care of the rest. Similarly, you can take existing skins on your system and make skin packs out of them for personal use.

Okay, the site's been a bit slow for the past couple weeks due to increased traffic. The good news is that we have just upgraded the SQL server to a dual 1Ghz machine that's on a DS3 line so things should be much much faster. There is still, of coruse, the issue that the pages are 60K in HTML with lots of graphics (100K total) so things can be slower for modem users but hopefully those users are taking advantage of the optimize for speed features and we will be working to find

Thanks Paxx. Actually, we've been wary of doing too much with the pop up menu because we don't want to more directly compete with NeXTStart and such. It's a tricky issue, but we are getting a lot of requests to make that pop up menu skinnable and customizeable.

Well the real reason all these sites are slow now is that you can now find images on www.google.com/images and we've set up a full time porn download script which is eating up all the bandwidth... At least, thats' what Jark told me! (ducks!)
I dunno, I've heard bad things about that DeviantArt places. I heard they have naked pictures and stuff there and that the guy who runs it is CRAZED!
The issue here is that AJ is running into NT security which is more robust than WinME. In WinME, I share a folder and everyone can see it by default. In Windows NT, you have to give users accounts on your machine first and then give them (unless they're admins) explicit permission to see it.
This is a great discussion. You rarely see such good conversation on such a hot topic such as this. Anyway, as Paxx correctly points out, WinCustomize will never go away because it's in Stardock's best interests for it not to go away. So Stardock provides the site with a gauranteed monthly grant. The problem for this particular site is that it now vastly exceeds that grant and has only a limited time to find ways to make up the difference. There are all sorts of diff
