I name mine by ass size. You should see the fright on their faces when you have them surrounded by a bunch of J Lo's with Black Hole erupters.

I don't have a problem with the fact that they are agressive. I just think they mislabeled the ethics. Good is not it. Maybe change it to more of a political alignment. Alignments like centrist, police state, Socialist etc. Not every race wants to follow the Democracy rout.
The "Good" is a deceptive word. There is nothing "Good" about them. They kill with the same zelous as everyone else. There are no interventions to save a race. They want to conquer the galaxy like everyone else. I try the neutral alignment everytime. Making the "Good" choices are never good to your civilization. I can't get myself to be evil either despite the advantages. I would love to say yes to the 25% increase in planet quality question, but I do not want to be considered evil, des
I can understand their hate for evil civ. I am just a neutral guy trying to get along with everyone until my economy comes around. I am playing on a huge map on a crippling setting. Since I usally play small maps, this is interesting on how far you fall behind when there are some many planets involved. The Yor are next door but on warm terms. The Altarians are on the other side and hate me. I love my trade routes with them and hate to lose that cash.
I am a guy that has typically playes with a neutral alignment. The goal being liked by more races. I have only played gal civ2 a few times but the evil races who are supposed to be hell bent on my destruction tend to be easier to get along with. However, those Altarians and to a lesser exent the Torrians tend to be war mongers. Does any body else have this experience?
I have not played most of the games mentioned but I think the AI is good from a research standpoint. However, they don't utilize what they research. For example, they research large hulls but don't build large hulls. Even when they are far more advanced than me, my ships will still kick their butts. I think this is a great game but I wish you could interact with the races. Doing a trade deal, attack request or alliance is all fine but it is not enough. The simple request of asking a
I find it most enjoyable when my wife is setting on top. OOOOP's. Sorry, I misread the question.
Reaver That is an awesome idea. That will clean up my shipyard quite a bit.
OHHH! I forgot to mention, GC2 is awesome. Last post in this tread.
America holds all Africa in debt. America has refused to wipe the debts of any nations, and when back in the 20's, the stock market crashed and the world went down. Why? Because America was the economic capital? no. Because they made sure that everyone went with them by demanding debts payed. Now, they won't help end world poverty because they see it profitable </
Let me change "listen to" to respect in my previous comments. I used to listen to France and Germany, but they wait to here are opinion so they can just take the other side. That is how their politics work. Always be against the USA. Western Europe is being taken over by Islam. France, Belgium, Holland are powder kegs waiting to blow. Islam will probably win because Europe lacks the intestinal fortitute to resist. This is a very pesimistic view, but I see little evidence
Here is another tangent to this conversation. I regret all of this anti-American feeling around the world, especially in the Western Europe. How quickly people forget what we have done for them and what we are continuing doing for them. Only Britain is holding on to the old friendships. Thus they are the only country in Europe that I listen to. This joke called the UN is the worst of all. It could not exist without us. We pay 30% of its total budget but it takes every oppor
This is a diplomacy problem. All the information goes one way. They can scream at you but you can't warn them. The diplomacy in this game is really not diplomacy but just business transactions. Trade techs Make alliances Attack so and so. etc. and it even turns green when the deal is acceptable for you No give and take with dialog.
If Stalin did not win, then nobody has ever won. All empires fall eventually. Rome, Eygpt, Greek, British, or whomever, they all go down. I will concede this about Hitler. Overturning the treaty of versailles was a good thing for Germany. His Military spending ended the great depression in Germany. He restored the pride of the German people. Then he proceded to hang his people by meat hooks and piano wire. The leader of the SA becomes a threat...he kills him.
Hitler winning does not make him good. He could write history in his favor because with victory comes the spoils. However, the effort to annihilate different races, the unprovoked aggression, and his demonic mind could not have been covered up if he won. You all are very naive if you think he could. Ghengis Khan - Won - we still know how brutal he was. Atilla - Won - we still know how brutal he was. Stalin - Won - we still know how btutal he was Pol Pot - Won - we stil
Wow! I started this tread to talk about how the good races were harder to get along with than the evil races. The tangent that it took was a little unexpected. It is amazing how Hitler is the ultimate example people use to explain their points. My point was a good natured race would be logically a little easier to get along with than an evil. Instead we got. George Bush = Hitler, Jesus vs evolution, etc.
Sure you can think of an example. Iraq!
I have played a few games now, I have come to a conclusion. The good races like the Alterians and Torians are really the war mongers. I typically take a nuetral alignment because I want those learning centers. I tend to have warm relations with the Yor and Drengin of the galaxy really with no effort. I can trade all I want with those good races and they are still more likely to be hostile. That is they are hostile with a nuetral race but friendly with the evils. I assume that these "g
I play medium and small maps. I don't have the time to take on a huge map, and because of who I am, I like to micromanage the planets. I would pull my hair out on a huge map. I have never played just one opponent. I assumed it would be just too easy. I play typically with 4 on a medium map.
I suggest executing the ungrateful peasants. Build a colony ship launch them into the coldness of space and open the doors (decommish the ship). "Continue to beat the troops until morale improves!"
Build colony ships and dump the no good bastards into space and decommish the ship. That'll teach-um.
I want to able to pimp my ride. Give me spinners!!!!!
I tried to keep one as a pet once, but it kept pissing on the carpet. I swore never again.
you can push the letter "B" for build
I skimmed through all of the responses but one point was not discussed enough. Yes, small ships can be produced fast but are limited in speed because of there hule size. Capital ships can defend or attack a much larger area. My small fighter that can travel four spaces are too slow to go on the attack. I have a capital ship that moves 15 spaces speeds the attacks up and obviously the distance traveled. The sheer number of attacks the large
