I agree to a point. I never invest a lot of money in it. I let it grow slowly over time. What it does get you, is the information of the special tiles, buildings, and projects that each planet has. I use it to prioritize my invasion order.

I have only played a few games, but despite my use of influence starbases, my territory was getting eroded away. By espionage I could tell that the Altarians were building 6-10 influence buildings on mutible planets. I invaded those 4 planets and sued for peace. In a couple of turns the influence war had flipped, and I was dominating them in influence.
I played GC1 after reading the review on gamespot. MOO3 stunk according to the reviews. I liked the game and would visit the forums to get tips, so your forums is were I learned of GC2.
Well, considering 100% is all your workforce going off to research, it's blatantly obvious it won't. In real life, but this is not real life. They can program it to do whatever they want. 100% spending plus 100% research slider should equal 100% spending on research. My question does going
I guess you can scratch my last question. When they say there playing the beta version they are talking about the patch they are using.
That is what I suspected but here is what I don't understand. Why would some body still be playing the beta version with the release version exists. Is it as simple as they are to cheap to buy it?
It should max out research on each planet and then if there is any production or social it will steal from them and add even more to research when focused. What i cant figure out is hwo the heck the AI keeps everyone happy! I would think it should give you more than 100%. That why I was a
This is a stupid question if you're a techy, but I'm not. The Beta version that was released for trials. What does BETA mean. I bought the game directly and got the box in the mail. I assume I am not running the mysterious Beta version, but there are a lot of people here running it. What gives?
To make it even more confusing. Lets say I put my spending to 100%. Move my research slider to 100%. Then go to each planet and prioritize to research spending. What happens?
I try to limit my tech trading. If I am behind in the race I will trade quite freely. Once I am on par I am very selective on what I will trade. Never trade Diplomancy or cutural techs. If I am at war and I desperately need to increase my logistics or something, then I will trade. I want to be superior in techs when I go to war. By Mid game I rarely trade.
Nice guide. I wish I had more time to play. Since I don't, I just pump the necesities on the hull and go. The result is a bunch of ugly plain ships, but it takes 45 seconds to make the ship. I would like to design ships but it slows the game down to much.
1. More indepth diplomacy. They can say, "I know what your doing" but we can't. Be able to change our relationship with the AI. IE. change my stance to "cool". Be able to send simple threats or request like get your God **** ships out of our territory, or don't trade with so and so. 2. I love this game but I think this would be better than it is currently. You can built fleets and you should be able to build armies. This whole troop system
sorry my French brother. Enjoy the game.
I hear crickets..
I'm very wary of the the bribing a race to fight another player. I tried it only once and the other race instantly was aware of it and declared war on me. Not sure how he found out about it since you can't carry on a dialog with other races. I never get intel telling me that so and so is doing this to me.
Don't get me wrong. I love the game....except for the bugs. I am sure the formula used to determine if they will trade with you includes morality, so the Yor will be more likely to trade with Dregin. I try to remain neutral because the evil races tend to survive in my games and good get wasted. I just can't get myself to go evil. I tend to put a heavy emphasis on researching diplomacy techs, but I have not played enough games wi
That's my point. So they trade. Without seeing there deals you really don't know anything. They may trade them for free for all you know. Don't pretend like you do know either because you don't. The fact is, there are built in designs for the computer to be able to challenge a human. It's part of programming. And yes, I know I can trade techs and do it all the time. You have to to survive on the higher levels.
This has been bugging me alot and it is people posts quite a bit. First of all, people talk about the AI like it thinks or is almost real or has a personality. That gives me a chuckle. Here is the question. Does any one have any proof that the AI really trades techs? Or is this just an assumption because there is no way they could have gotten what they have gotten without trading. Could it be, that since a computer can not think in heuristi
The only thing I think is fishy is that AI seems to know where the planets and resourses are before me. Where I have to scout extensively to find them, they make a bee line right for them, and I would bet my left nut that there flagship has not been there yet.
Not to start international incident on this board, but I bet most here don't care what the French think.
Great. The only thing that has changed since my first game was I updated the game. It must of introduced this bug.
This was asked the other day but I could not find it. This is my second game and I did not have this problem in the first game. I have researched medium scale building, but unlike the first game, medium sized hulls have not shown up. I now have progressed to researching large scale building and still no medium hulls. GC1 tech tree was pretty clear on what you needed to research to make something available. GC2's tech tree is linea
Thanks for the responses. I was wondering if it made you evil, the approval rating dropped, or at worse, even revolted? Most people don't like to starve you know.
I have a couple planets in which the population has skyrocketed. It happened because of the xeno farm technology. Once those farms were upgraded my population got higher than I wanted. What happens if I decommission the farms and I have suddenly have more people than the planet can support?
You tech guys are amazing. I lock up after a couple hours and have to restart the program, but would have no clue on how to dianosis the problem. Memory Leak...how do even know that is the problem.
