But what if in the future, they just used AI controlled ships! Moment someone tries to board, it just self-destructs. hmm, major research technology. Possible, install self destruct modules and AI Modules, or course there is the random event that the destruction modules are disabled/failed/cant be co

definatley difficult (rephrase from earlier statement), but you could think of it as, the more of the modules you have, the more soldiers to takeover the ship. And then the military funding (or lack of in some cases) would affect how many people are on board the vessel getting boarded, eg. if the funding is good you have 50 people on board against 20 invaders? but if you dont have the funding, you have a skeleton crew of say 8 people against 20. I have not yet seen the gamma, so i dont have any current info, but.... Perhaps it could be an interesting topic for expansion to be able to board ships and take them over or let them surrender to you. or even you surrender to them, could add some interesting twists to the game. Im not talking of controlling each move, for example, click on one of your ships to select it then click on an enemy ship to board it. And a button on the

perhaps you will be the one to make it so. (i have a strong preference to star trek voyager if you need suggestions jking, really, do whatever you want, make it your own personal design)

cant wait for the expansion, so many ideas, will be out a couple of months after realease (before world of warcraft expansion maybe?)

I DID say it wasn't an original idea! Actually I was thinking more of the Voyager episide "Dreadnought" with the intelligent Cardassian super-missile. Star Trek ain't too original either. oh favorite episode, didnt think of that. Nice

This is the root of the problem. It is COMPLETELY UNFAIR to the AI to leave monsters as they were in GalCiv 1. Unless the AI can deal with these cheap monster lure tactics, it just isn't right. Said monsters otherwise go after what it can find including my ships, it is strategy, the gen

Well there's a different spin you can put on the space monster mechanic, rebrand them as ancient Precursor weapon systems roaming the galaxy long after their creators are no more. Automated drones acting out some long forgotten command to defend the Precursor empire and so on. It might not be all that original but you can

why not just make the minor races have that ability, they also get the choice of weather they want to be good or evil race , heck why stop there, we could add the abilities to every race E.G. Comm Link with Torian Race Established We will give you (Tech, ship, money, planrt, etc) in exchange for you stealing the PreCursor Ranger from Drengin, time limit is 5 months if they accomplish the task, they get the mo

here is an interesting thought, how is the material that we are mining getting to say earth, possibilities of unmaned frieght ships that you can define which planet it goes to and gets the benefits(sorta like trade but without limit?), or possibly allowing ships to dock at the star base and have to be destroyed before they enemy starts on the starbase (think star trek deepspace 9 on this one)

i personally like the shark, goodness knows many times i have used a scout ship to carefully lure it toward an enemy i was at war with (I always studied propulsion after trade), it destroys pratically all og your enemy and it doesnt hurt you relations with them Will anyone speak for the space monster? --Cari I

ok, im new at this so forgive me if i sound ignorant, but most of the technology breakthroughs that we have today were made by private companys/NON-govement funded projects (E.G. the Lightbulb), i am suggesting that possibly every now and then, one of your brillant people of your race can come up with a hidden tech idea that will have an important backbone to future development, or possibly if some of the ships that are in combat surrender to you, if y

if you get a powerbook that has ALOT of CPU power and RAM, and you buy a copy of windows, there is a program called virtualPC that Microsoft makes for mac so that the people onm the mac can have a pc built in, it is hard on the processor/RAM but if you get ALOT, you might be able to play it with the graphics settings turned down a bit on the game, This is THEORY
