The width of a start panel is determined by the width settings of the user pane...for full size menus, the width setting is usually 380 pixels. By adjusting that setting, the entire menu will stretch. You may then have to adjust content margins on the various panels to get the icons and text to line up properly. This is for XP...I do not know if this is the same for Vista, as I don't have Vista.
hehe ... well give me a little time to finish off current projects (won't be long ! ) ...and then I will PM you to start the ball rolling ... ok ?
okey dokey!
So, I rebooted again, and this time, the skin loaded properly! Whew! I sure hope Stardock takes a look at this, and fixes whatever is broken with the update process!
Well, I spoke too soon! When I went to change to a different skin, it crashed my computer! So, I have gone back to the previous version of WB 6...and, will not try to update again until Stardock fixes whatever is wrong here.
I agree it would be fantastic ... Great to know that you are happy with it , Jazzy !! ( hmmm .... methinks a coupla sidebars for your WB would be fun to do ... let me know ! )
Mike, I have been using the sidebar for years! I would LOVE to have you make sidebars for my skins! I usually use the Real XP Silver sidebar...it is neutral. I haven't really tried to make my own sidebars yet....I have gotten requests for sidebars to match my blinds...so you m
Man...this was a bear of an update! First, I updated on my laptop...went off without a hitch. So, I thought....yea! Then I did the update on my desktop...what a mess! The first go around, all I had was the original windows classic and a message that the wbconfig.exe couldn't be found. All of my skins were lost in action. I rebooted a few times to no avail. So, then I decide to restore my previous version. At, first, it wouldn't restore...but, eventually, I got it to restore. Had to rebo
Desktop Sidebar is very different .. and free ... There are over 500 skins available ...and many , many plugins and additions
I love Desktop Sidebar....it would be awesome if we had a library for skins for it! The sidebar is highly customizable...you can autohide it, you can make it as transparent as you want, is very easy to edit, and you can put all kinds of things in it! I vote for a library for it! Mike, if you find a way to get your skins
we hate when something SHOULD work and dosnt. It becomes an obsession to squash the bug.
That's my problem too....it drives me nuts when something doesn't work, even though I know it should. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with the vertical separator. And it drove me nuts not being able to get it to work...I spent the better part of three days trying to fix it. Thanks again soooo much! :D
The image(seperator) needs blank padding...I just made it 7 pixels tall and it works fine now.
How do I thank you IR? I added 2 pixels of transparent pixels to the top and bottom of the separator image....voila!!! It worked!!! Thank you sooooo much!!! :D
The image(seperator) needs blank padding...I just made it 7 pixels tall and it works fine now.
IR, did you make the additional pixels transparent, or did you re-size the image as it was?
the font I have assigned is arial...that is the font that I have been using for awhile with all my blinds. Let me go and zip the file up...I need to put back the messed up separator...I had replaced it with a transparent image. Thanks for offering to try to figure out what is going on here. This blind is being made is SKS 5 for XP. :)
No, the start button is 60 px wide, and the separator is 30 px wide, and I have it stretched. I am using the exact same separator (recolored) I used in Sea Jasper, and the actual image part of this start button is the same size as the image part of the start button in Sea Jasper...that is what has me all confused here. It should work...
Okay...how do we get our stuff off of there? They have just about all of my blinds there. As kitty said, the site is in chinese, so I can't read what it says. I noticed that I am not credited as the author of my blinds either.
Thanks both IR and kitty. I could never get the vertical taskbar separator to work. So, I decided to just make a transparent image there and leave it at that. I even imported the luna default start button and separator. They worked fine, but the minute I added the separator, it was clipped...the top half of it was clipped on the left side - only the right half of the top half was showing. Then I put the luna separator back in, and everything was fine. So, I decided to try the start button.
Thanks, IR...I'll try that. Funny you mentioned that...this start button has trans at the top, but not at the bottom...I'll try that and post back here if that works.
If i can't get the stupid thing to work, I just might make it invisible...but, I hate doing that... I'm just wondering if SKS or WB messed something up. SKS crashed on me while I was working on the blind, and WB "hiccuped" several times. What I just might do, is delete the blind, and start over...I didn't have much done anyway.
danillo, I've tried the left and right margins at 0 for each, all the way to 9 for each....my image is 20 x 3. This separator is the same one (re-colored) that I used in the last blind I did, Sea Jasper, and the separator works fine in that blind, but not in this one. I just don't understand what is going on with it.
I've run into a glitch with the blind I am working on now. The vertical taskbar separator won't span across the taskbar. I have spent the greater part of the past three days trying to figure out what is going on with it! http://jazzymjr.wincustomize.com/photos.aspx?a=1&p=3 Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help would be appreciated...never have had this problem before.
I turn my computer on when I get up in the morning, and it stays on all day...my monitor shuts off after 15 minutes of inactivity...don't use screensavers. I turn my computer off generally after supper. Needless to say, if I am gonna be away for more than just one day, my whole system gets unplugged from the wall.
Damn, its rare that I find someone older than me. Will be 61 in a few days.
Well, I am 62..fixin to turn 63 in a few months. Started skinning at the young age of 59 ;)
If the deal for ODNT + WC sub is as good, it should remain affordable for most of us.Let's hope so, anyway.
I hope they do a package deal for ODNT and WC....sure would be nice.
I'm sorry, but I just don't like the fact of getting a rate hike because "we are now offering $60 in free skins a year". I mean what if I don't want the subscriber skins.
I have to say that I feel the same way. I have never downloaded any of the themes that have been offered for free as a subscriber. The main reason is that I don't use all the stuff. I only use WB, and icons. I like a totally clean desktop. All of my "stuff" that I need is on my Desktop Sidebar, and
I got it too...since last week.
Well, I use AVG Pro....yes, I already pay for it! I orginally started out using the free version, but switched to the paid version about a year ago. This is one top-notch anti-virus program, and it doesn't eat up all your system resources like the "bigshots" do!
Thanks, SK, for posting the fix for kitty's blind, and for your tips on the logoffs/shutdowns. Should prove to be very helpful for folks. (Fortunately, I don't have problems with those...at least not so far)! :)
Also SK is right I have noticed a correlation between the screenmask and the dialog image! Image=vexa\logoff.tga HideText=1 Trans=1 PerPixel=1 SimpleMode=3
This is really weird! I don't use a screen mask. I also do not have the SimpleMode=3 line in my code. I don't know if those settings may be part of the problem or not. I'm curious to find out what SK comes up with...
