I was just surprised she didn't know that with all the skins she's done!
LOL! I have never had a desire to remove transparency from an image....so, how to remove transparency was a non-issue for me! :d
You can open the skin in SKS 5....then on the left in the tree view.....click on taskbar....then the plus to open it then choose horizontal. The at the top where you see "Analyze"..."code"..."Template"..."Preview"....choose code and you'll see "BackgroundEffect = ?...if it's set at 1 change it to 10 and it should get rid of the tranparency
Hey...I never knew that! Learn something new everyday! :CONGRAT:
If the author of the skin used transparency for the taskbar (ie, the taskbar image itself is transparent), there is nothing you can really do to get rid of the transparency, other than making a new image for the taskbar that is not transparent...
Thanks, NT....I figured that was the case. I will just have to put up with the blue tabs. I saw those icons in SKS 6. I was wondering if I could use those for IE icons in my blind...skinning them to match my blinds. I know I would have to skin them, and make them the same size as those for XP.
I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to IE7. Love the tabs browsing, but hate the blue tabs! Is there anyway I can skin those to match my blinds? Also, what about the toolbar icons? The ones I make for my blinds don't show up in IE7...is there a template for those? Running XP, SKS5...
Okay...I installed IE7...so far, so good. Just trying to get used to the tabs. :)
Okay, ID...I guess I will do the upgrade today....
You don't have another browser, Firefox, Opera, etc? IE7 doesn't bite...
Nope...just IE6. Have been afraid to upgrade...I don't know anyone personally who uses IE7. IE6 works fine for me. I guess I will have to bite the bullet, huh?
Just go to www.impulsedriven.net and login and you're good to go.
I tried that, pic, and I still get the message that it will not work in IE6: We're sorry, but your version of Internet Explorer isn't compatible with the Impulse Community website. The Impulse Community supports only the latest version of Internet Explorer, version 7. Please update Internet Explorer to participate in the Impulse Community. That's a bummer! :SNIFF!:
I cannot use Impulse, as I am one of those holdouts, still using IE6! :SNIFF!:
Thanks, everyone! Sorry I didn't comment sooner....have been a little under the weather, and not on my computer much! :D
Thanks unclerob and starkers. I hope I do the site justice! :)
WOW! Thanks all! I am really looking foward to being a staff member at SDN...and, will TRY to keep those guys in line! :D
jazzymjr, This is the second time I have seen you post about Desktop Sidebar. I have been wanting to try it but have been leary because I don't know if I can get it customized the way I want it. I just downloaded it on your say alone. I will give it a shot. I used googles for a while but oh so limited. I'm really glad you commented here
skybright, I know you will love it! My son is the one who got me started with Desktop Sidebar. I just love it! If you have an
If you haven't experienced, tasted, seen, fealt, heard, etc.. whatever it is your critiqing, your opinion is shit.
I agree with you NT 100%. I do not rate anything I have not downloaded. I do not comment on any WB, Rainy, or Widget that I have not downloaded and tried out. Occasionally, though, I will comment on a blind that is a Vista blind that looks really nice in the preview, and hint about a possible XP version.
I use Desktop Sidebar, and have done so for years. It makes no changes to system files, has numerous plug-ins for just about anything, and is fully skinnable. It works with both XP and Vista.
Thanks wulfin, for the feature! What a surprise! I love how you customized all of the blinds...I really like your choice of walls for all of them...thanks again! :)
I used XTEQ for years and it is an amazing tool though.
I am still using XTEQ on my computer...have XP. Have had it forever. It is a powerful program, but it does have a safe mode for making changes if you are not sure of what you are doing.
i on the other hand will save it as a png and re import....probably the long way round....but thats how i work......
Kitty, it seems you and I work the same way. I save all of my images in a separate folder as either pngs or bmps, whichever is appropriate. I let SKS convert the pngs. This way, if I need to change things, which happens a lot, I can just edit the images and re-import. Another thing I do, is I don't name my skin until I am finished with it....I use a let
My thoughts and prayers are with both your son and his family, and you and your family as well...
I'm glad you got it figured out. I can't tell you how many times, I have deleted something accidentally...thank God you can get the default one back!
Congrats, Starkers! :CONGRAT:
If you are using SKS 5, this is how to do it. In the preview section, click on the combobox button. In the area below, click on import, then click on Skin Studio's default file. I don't have SKS 6, so I can't tell you how to do it with it. Another option would be is to start a new skin in SKS, then copy/paste the code for the button from there into the skin you are working on.
alot of work.....
I agree with you Kitty...I have just recently updated a couple of my skins...it's like making a whole new blind, but it is worth it, when you see how far you have come since you made the older skin. ;)
Too funny!
