Personally I like the SE3/4 way of doing it (except for the free pop from the colony module), one module gives you x pop in your new colony, add more get more pop, but that will cost you more and most likely be slower. This way you will have to make a tradeof between speed, cost, and carrying capacity. And let us save our designs to external files, so we can share them, and reuse them. Naturally ships will only be available for building once the apropriate tech have

Well I have not had that one. But I have been able to overfill the hulls. Ex. 99 out of 90 on a transport. Furthermore I have not been able to add the non space consuming extras on an already full ship.

I'm a natural fiddler, and would like to be able to micromanage some of my planets, including terraforming, but at the same time I dont want to be forced to micromanage. After playing a few turns of GC2 I have come to the conclusion that I prefer not to worry about where to put what on a planet, that includes witch tiles to terraform. From the limited number of turns I have been able to play I canot yet say how many tiles should be on a planet, but I'd prefer generic

Um, I can't even get a game to start. I get through all the loading screens, and then I click start game, and the game dies Have you installed the multimedia? I had that problem until I figured out that the multimedia game apearing right after GC2 in SDC was not a game but the multimedia for GC2. After instaling those file

I have two computers, one Desktop and one laptop, both run the latest WinXP patches, and DirectX 9.0c. On both of them I get CTD when pressing the "Next" button on the Chooes Opponents page. Found out that the error is that I did not download the multimedia!!! But where do I send debug.err files in the future?

And in there are a bunch of .dxpacks. These are read in by DesktopX which you can download at www.desktopx.net. Next month we will be building up the Downloads are so that you guys can upload your own takes on various screens. Does that mean we have to by DesktopX or is the shareware version enough?
Build moral boosters on local starbases.
Erhm. that's not in the vanila game as far as I know. I usually start out with as high at tax rate as earth will tolerate at 100% hapiness, I keep that for the first 10-20 turns, after The taxrate hits ~50 I don't change it unless I'm generating a ton of money and want to increase my population. Unless I play for a cultural or cultural-flip victory I build only the following social projects: PQ-boosters, Moral

I feel that having to check the metavers each time a game is submitted is not an efficient way of doing it. Yesturday I submitted two games, after the first I could not access calciv.com at all. After the second the server was OK. The problem was that the first game was not submitted, luckely for me and my score I keep EndGameSave files (aced) so I was able to resubmit the game. When submitting the first game there was no error-message or any other indication that the game was not submitted.

I tried to see the players scores for Gigantic galaxy size only, this however has a strange effect. Showing only the score for gigantic maps will show Technician at 15th place with only 69 games played (I'm nowhere to be found), clicking on his name and selecting "show all" brings up a list of hundreds of gigantic games, The first several hundred of those are played in AP, so it seems that the sorting only counts non AP games.

I have seen it head for an anomally 2-3 sectors away and then after passing by an anomally it will on the next turn turn around and pick it up. It seems like it reevaluates after moving for that turn, should either bee befor each move or befor moving for that turn. Once, just once I have had it change cource in mid move to grab an anomally, that time it had stopped moving so I selected an anomally for it, but on the way there it uncovered another anomally and went after it. Finaly a few

Hmm. I just counted the games registered in my profile, there are 24, on the metaverse pages it says 23, so my last game is registered but not counted. My guess is that the server that does the recalc is hanging or down.

Well I have had it on and off since yesterday (3/9/2005) at one point the ranking only worked for the top 3 players. Right now I'm ranked nr "0" lower is better does that meen I've beeten you Technician!!! ;p LOL

First of all: the enable cheat keys disables scoring. There is a post listing the various cheat codes here: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=114047

The bonus from resources apply to the empire-wide abilities, you have a list of those on the status-tab. If you have 10% research bonus from a resource and 20% from other empire-wide sources it meens you get a total of 30% bonus to your research, so if you have a planet that would give you 10+0 research it will now produce 11+2 researc. Witch meens you only pay for one of the extra 3 research. The militarry bonus applies to both attack and defence, but not hitppoints.

My most impressive victory was a start with a PQ20 Earth, A PQ26 Sol V, and one PQ14 planet in another system. All other stars were so far out of range, that the AI was there long befor me. So I consentrated on grabbing a few resources, got one moral, two econ, and one influence. By jan 2190 I had not yet found the last race, but in feb 2191 I won an aliance victory. But it was close, Those bastards were very expensive to bribe :HOT: Forgot to mention: it was a Gigantic, maso game and
Im going to jump on the improved land battles bandwagon. Honestly I want a better graphical representation of whats happening on the planets surface. If we could get a zoom down view and see the planet in 3d with buildings and everything, that would be amazing. I really, really want to see 3d ground combat though. You dont have to let us control each unit or anything, but let us choose some sort of strategy, and then see that strategy carried out by a 3d invasion force fighting against a

In my oppinion the score should reflect the starting possition, and the overall dificulty of the game. So if you for instance defeat an oponent using significantly less ships and troops than he does, you get higher score than by applying overwhelming forces. How this can be calculated, specially for non military wins, I don't know. And the number of turns used to acieve a victory should be factored in so that the optimum was a fast but not emediate win. Again I don't know how.

I have the most points from Aliacne victory, but since the metawerse score for each game is 60k, I'm not sure. If you look at the top players in the metavers, most of their wins are aliance. The reason is that some players are able to acieve a 60k aliance win in 1 hour or even less. The most enjoyable games in my oppinion are large galaxy, comon planets on cripling or painfull, with all AI's pressent. This make very long games but you get to hammer away on the AI's a lot, while the empi
