ether start GC/AP from the commandline or edit the shortcut for GC/AP. To do the later: 1: right-click on the shortcut to play the game (not the link to stardock central or the AP menu.) 2: edit the Link Location so it ends with "GalCiv.exe w" That should do it.

Hmm. My testing so far doesn't seem to confirm this. With 71 techs discovered, I had a cost of 140%, with 72 it was 142%. So it would be nice to hear from Stardoc what the current formula is. Arround 10 of these were traded for, or gifts from the AI.

In January 2186 in my current game, UPIssue ChangeGovernment02 came up. I was out-voted and forced to live with a Imperial government for 2 years. The UP tab saied that it was "-Effective through year 2188, All civ..." Then in December 2188 I discovered Star Federation, and to my surprice I was asked if I wanted to change government. After saying yes I went back and reloaded a savegame from a few turns earlier, here I also had the ability to change government, and the law was not in effect. I fo

What is the formula for calculating the cost of researching a given technology? I have tried to derive a formula by checking the cost for each tech after each discovery, the cost after each of the first 10 discoveries are, as far as I can determin: (Giant, Chalenging) 0 : 100% 1 : 101% 2 : 102% 3 : 103.75% 4 : 105% 5 : 106% 6 : 107,5% 7 : 108.8% 8 : 110% 9 : 111.2% 10: 112.4% Unfortunately the error factor on these numbers are si

Hi VagabondNomad, welcome to the world of GalCiv. I'm not really a veteran althoug I have had and played the game for quite a while, but in here most questions are answered politely, so don't be afraid to ask. As to your Q's, Ill try to answer some of them. 1: Unfortuanately there are no way of re-orbiting a colony ship, once they are launched you can't land them again without colonising a planet. If you colonise one of your own planets the population from the colony ship i

Unfortunately that file is... well not very informative. It says nothing on the SB-module costs, added in version what was it? It dosn't mention that UP issues that have pased now have effect allso after a reload.

Well 10% of 14 is 1.4 so no it will not upp it by more than one. And as far as I remember +5% on a PQ14 gives you a PQ14 planet. There is a chart somewhere in the library that details the starting PQ and bonus results for all PQ levels and a good number of bonuses.

I have only played a few games but, most of those were with high influence, in my latest submitted game, I hardly ever invaded a planet. What I did was place a SB with max culture in a sector bordering 3 or more sectores belonging to the target empire, and in a few turns I had one or more stars flipping. With high influence you can even colonise a low PQ planet, 12 or so, and watch the surrounding systems flip. And having 50%+ of the votes in the UP dosn't hurt either. :HOT: On
I think both of us need to live without these features, manually enter the HTML
That's what I do now, but if enough people ask for compatible sites, it might eventually help.
Man, I hate to ask but why would you not use IE?
Man, I hate to ask why should I? :p I'll tell you a few reasons for using FireFox: 1) Tabbed browsing 2) Sequrity 3) Speed 4) Resizable font, also known as zooming. (In Firefox it does actually work. So you

Hope this is the right forum for this bug-repport. I use Mozilla Firefox as my standard browser. Since switching from IE I have not been able to use the "Quote", "Bold", and "Underline" buttons in this forum. The smilies work fine thoug. I tried in Opera and there the problem is the same.

Is that 1000 Million like in one Billon? Where do you get that much population? I have never had more than 1.2-1.3 B at the time when I built my first colony ship. And by the time I have 1 B "to spare" there are no 14+ planets left to colonize.

Might be right, sounds logical, but in that case Stardoc forgot ;) to mention it. But anyway the important issue with regard to tech-cost and calculation is the free-beaker issue. As far as I'm conserned there are two major bugs in GC/AP: (Might have something to do with my playing style) 1) Turn to completion (ttc) is not calculated right. Ex. 10pp left on a project, the planet produces 5pp/turn, the reported ttc is 2 while it should be 1. 2) The free research po

Another Tech Cost calculation bug? I noticed that at times techs cost more than what it says in the relevant .tech file, while at other times the number and actual cost is correct. This time I started noticing this discrepancy when I got a few Research Labs running. My current tech is Advanced Engineering. In GCTech.TECH the cost is 400, but I have to spend a total of 448 on it. (The number has been calculated by reloading and setting research spending to 1 bc, confirmed by trying w

Oops all anomalies disappeared! The way I play the game it takes me at least a couple of days to play each game, so I do have to save the game and come back to it later. When I loaded my current game today each and every anomaly I had uncovered, but not yet investigated had disappeared, and I have not uncovered a single anomaly today. I know for certain that at most of the anomalities cannot have been investigated by any of the AI players on that turn: there were simply too many and the

There are a few bugs that I find anoying: 1: The cursor does not necesarriliy point to what's under it. One place is the Diplomatic screen. Here when trading items from a list where some items occupy more than one line, the highlighted item is one or more places lower in the list sompared to the cursor. Another place are the sliders on the domestic screen, here scroling with your mouse wheen takes some practise as the slider scroled has little to do with the placement of the cursor.

Cari, I have updated both GC and AP using Stardock Central. My versions are 1.22.101 and 1.52b.012. I just downloaded the two files from yoou last post, they match the my Data directories. So I'm still curious as to why there is an unused GCTech.TECH in the root directory of my AP. I can se why trading constructors are dissalowed, was just wondering. ~SDC~

Someone mentioned techs not being available for research until certain other techs had been proven in battle. This morning I was reading an article in the ongoing discussion of wheter or not to send a manned mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. Those two things gave me an idea: science path enabeling buildings, and military project enabeling buildings. I'm not proposing the MOO3 system where each new hull-sizes requires that all planets build a new spacedock, rather something like the
