Scrounging through boxes containing remnants of my past life, I ran across some paperbacks. Most of them were mine, and I had read them long ago, but it seems that at some point my father's books overflowed into my old room before my mother packed up my things. I found Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men in amongst the bad Piers Anthony novels (the Xanth series) and

1. I thought this was going to be about the "lyrics sites" that constantly try to jump into your computer when you visit them. Glad you didn't have any of that. 2. Do these sites use regular contributors? It might be that they rely on people to send things in... you're not likely to start liking them more by refusing to contribute. Just think of the next poor sap that wants those lyrics... and he'll get the same mangled ones you did. Wo

I have three cassettes in good condition that are just lying around my apartment taking up (a very minimal) space. Going to list them on eBay, but... I most likely won't have any luck with them. I suppose it's not so strange that they are inexpensive; the technology is virtually dead. (I will say that I keep receiving recorded cassettes from various langua

Going home was... nice? But awkward. And if there's any doubt that I'm thinking of myself more than my kids: I returned them to their mother three days early so they could spend a day visiting their uncle (her brother) and his family. At SeaWorld. I would've been within my legal rights to say, "No." I would've also been a selfish prick.<!-- Ju-An

Like you guys don't even really consider non-electronic games as games... Anyway, the newest set for Marvel HeroClix is titled Sinister as in "... Six" or "... Syndicate" but not "Mr. ..." Chock full of villains, probably my favorite part is that there are multiple members of the Thunderbolts included in the set, both from the original team (thank you

If the spreadsheet is set up to show sales by day (giving you 365 rows), you might have the total number sold that day in the first column (A). The next column might have a formula like =A1*250. (You could continue that down that column, increasing the numerical digit appropriately, i.e. A2, A3, etc.) Once you're down at the bottom, you could sum those up, either column. It's up to you whether you want to sum the number of units sold for the year a

I have the opposite problem. I'm trying to "undump" (actually un-hide) my older articles, and I get an error when I try to click on "pseudosoldier's Articles" on the top tab.

This stuff I just completed isn't really too hard, yanno. Don't belittle your accomplishments. I just taught a 50 minute block on graphing simple algebraic equations. I didn't think y=2x was hard, either, but we had two SSgts who I wasn't sure were going to make it. (They did, though. I felt pretty

1. I got up late. 2. I was jolted awake by some sort of computer-related stress nightmare. 3. I forgot akulaboy's swimgear. 4. pseudo jr's tummy was upset. 5. I forgot to get chocolate chips at the grocery store. 6. pseudo jr got sick. 7. Clothing sales opened late, so I didn't get my uniform parts this morning. 8. My car wouldn't s

This is another one of those things that has been happening and then people feel the need to post about it... Like the "can I delete my account" threads. Although I agree that some sort of master control (or even a default setting for future articles) to set all of one's articles to "Registered Only", or (my particular want right now) to "Me Only" or "Public" for audience.

No. Sometimes I'm a daddy >whatever I goofed, actually. This morning he was a pygmy marmoset. I guess he felt that was small enough.

Baby 'Slock' - What? 'I Baby Slock!' Do you mean sloth? 'Yes!' You don't even know what that means. 'Slock is in the trees!' I guess you do... Baby Skunk - He even arches his back, sticks out his butt and says, "Pfff!" Baby Tiger - He tried to bite my face. Baby Snake - He slithered off and back on the couch, going "sss! sss!" <BR

I've got last priority. There are worse things. At least that's almost predictable. And there are worse places to be. And does this count against your current contract? Even if it doesn't, it counts towards your total time in service, which affects your pay... but I'm staying in as

During the American Civil War, the Union made use of both tranposition and substitution ciphers for military messaging. The Confederacy had problems stringing anything together; the feds would have their attempts cracked within a day. Johnny Reb was terrible at cryptanalysis as well. They were so desperate, they took to publishing some enciphered Union messages in

I have the Codebreakers by Kahn and Applied Cryptography by Schneier. Both of those I was actually pointed towards by Cryptonomicon (fiction). I believe that I've heard of Singh's work... it's honestly been over a year since I've touched any of this stuff. Thanks for the visit and the pointer, though!

I have been tasked to give a set number of presentations to prepare to become an instructor. My first was a 10 minute presentation on Divorce (Uncontested Divorce in Texas). Then, a 20 minute presentation on Superman. Recently, I did a 30 minute presentation on Radio Wave Propagation. Unfortunately, my next presentation, 50 minutes, looks like it will be o

I agree with some of your starting points. Lashley doesn't do enough outside of the ring, he has no camera presence. (Unfortunately, I can't watch Smackdown, so I don't know if he's gotten any better.) I've seen clips of the King Booker bit, and you're right that it doesn't work. BT has been on his way down for a long while now... Pairing them against each other isn't helping anyone here. Are they still mentioning Lashley's milita

That's the thing that's the hardest to think about: the health issues. I cannot seem to get past that when I think about what would happen if I left. Disclaimer: divorce laws differ by state. In Texas, alimony is normally limited to three years in duration but can be adjudicated to be indefinite if

I think it's great that his Dad is spending the whole day with him. I hope he actually had to tell the bums at work to bugger off. Happy Birthday, Jake.

It wasn't really bad. He waited until after the presentation to try to get me. See, the instructor handed out these cards for how certain students should be annoying. One of the students got "Know more than the instructor", but he didn't. He couldn't . The other SSG thought he could and tried to prove it with the Blue Kryptonite thing. But he's fast becoming a good friend. He just likes picking.
