Catch up - Last Wednesday I was on track with everything. Honestly, the only thing I didn't do was account for it all here online. Thursday and Friday were weird days, since I was up all night on duty and then slept for most of the day Friday. Saturday was mostly on the road (check my previous article) and Sunday was... Sunday. Back on track today, with

(Sorry about the cleavage) You either need to stop saying you're sorry or make a bigger apology. That one just isn't adequate to cover your ... impropriety. I taught Canoeing merit badge for a short bit at the Boy Scout camp

Over a month ago, a former Army Staff Sergeant contacted my Battalion to request an Army color guard for a local event. After checking with the legal office, my command okayed our participation, and I secured the assistance of three other volunteer NonCommissioned Officers to perform the drill duties. I really didn't know much about the event, or the organization...

There is a difference between UBL's Al-Qaeda and AMZ's Al-Qaeda In The Land Between Two Rivers (the literal translation; it's interpretation that gives it "Iraq" or "Mesopotamia," but since they co-exist in the same space... it's splitting linguistic hairs). AQ in Iraq is a different group, but an off-shoot, at least idealogically, of the original and led by a man who has ties to the original group and its leadership. There is also som

Careful... isn't against the ToS to use a member's name in the title of an article? hehe... I said "member."

Holy crap! Okay, you'll just have to consider the random gift an early present, then. I gave him a black eye once. I've heard that story a couple of different times from him, and always with great fondness. There are few men who feel more fortunate to have their eye blackened than HW.

PT with the Platoon was MSE (muscular strength and endurance). Not terrible, but a little too much stress on my lower back (which is always my concern with standardized Army PT). But not terrible: push-ups, sit ups, crunches and pull ups, mostly. Food: Propel - 25/0/0/0/6/0/0 Crystal Light - 10/0/0/0/2/0/0 2 eggs - 160/90/10/3/2/0/14 e

PT was ability group run, where I tagged along with the slightly-too-fast 15-to-16-minute-two-mile group. How the fuck did I miss this, 'miah? I can't believe I didn't see it. I'm so hit-and-miss nowadays, it's easy to assume that I'm dead, literaturely speaking. Might write more soon, but the kernels of inspiration keep getting trod under the foot of too-much-to-do.

I bought an Arabic language cookbook recently, and have started to read over it as a way of getting in some light practice. "The Complete Cooking Guide for the Modern Woman, More Than 560 Arabic and international recipes." There are some weird things in there... like this. Ingredients: 1/2 kilo of ground meat 1 cup of dried "Afgani" bread crumbs<BR

It sounds delicious . Compulsively, I tallied up the nutritional information (based on searches on CalorieKing.com) and, while it's not healthy, I've seen worse. Serving size = 1/8 pizza Serving - 393 cal, 168 fat cal, 19g fat, 10g sat fat, 50g carb, 2g fiber, 8g protein There's no way I'm making it, though, because I'd eat the whole dang thing. On the 6th, my diet was pretty much in-line with what I had eaten on the 5th, until I got to dinner. I was home just after 6pm and asleep about an hour later, so I didn't get to eat. On the 7th, it was more or less more of the same, except that dinner fell into that malleable "weekend time" where calories don't count against me (until I weigh myself Monday mornin

I have about one month before my next PT test, and I start teaching tomorrow. Both of those are good reasons to start this up again and see how well I can do: the first gives me a goal and a timeframe and the second gives me a "fresh start" of sorts. I was 223.5# this morning (not quite hovering... rising slightly over the past month) but just now I was 221#. <B

While waiting to pick up a delivery yesterday, I meditated a bit on some things I had recently read. I have a thought fragment that I'll attempt to reproduce here and one that I've already put into the Philosophy sub-forum. That religion (esp. x-ian, e.g. RCath) is full of blatant contradictions can actually be useful as an exercise of faith. Similar to medi

I have two thought fragments that I'll attempt to reproduce here and in the Religion sub-topic in a bit. Food - I made a package of Monischewitz hummus mix about an hour ago, chilled it and ate it with onions and a wheat tortilla. You could tell it was "intant," but it was still very tasty. I'll likely have some sort of packaged meal that includes meat (like a Lean Cuisine or maybe a microwaveable chili bowl) later before going to bed early. I heard about an

Wow, you go off to college for three days and come back with all these liberal ideas... okay, okay, I'm just funning you, honest. Good luck with your plan. I hope that when you're done, you feel you've made a difference. Me, I'm going to drive a block and a half to eat steak.

I hate being late as well... but when I was actually attending college, I didn't care as much. Then there was the Chemistry lecture class where I'd sit in the front row with my feet propped on the stage and fall asleep. In uniform. Ah, well. I suppose I've matured. Good job on everything so far. Keep it up!
