Sayara moofukhukha - VBIED (literally, booby-trapped car) Before I had seen/heard it used, we had surmised that it would be mootafukhukha. The engineers that we taught the phrase to giggled every time ... "Mootafukhukh! tee hee" We were using the wrong form of the word, though. Irdaaf - buttocks Teez - ass (the anus, probably, although all the new Arabic linguists at the Institute use it to comment about girls'

So, whatcha tryin' to say? Just "colon Dee", but it comes out looking like I'm laughing at you. I'm not. I've got a big ol' grin about this. Momma Doe is still a nurse and Poppa Doe went to nursing school after he retired as an NYC cop.

the Army is not screwing you...you just ahve a clueless Rear D. Of course, if the paperwork isn't done right... Take notes, including dates, of what you were told and when. You know, in case IG needs a phone call later.

The chaplain giving the presentation (BATTLEMIND, are you familiar with it?) kept using the terms "PTSD" and "combat stress" interchangeably. I honestly feel like the Army would like to downplay genuine PTSD and severe mental problems related to the deployments by re-labeling them and making them seem "normal". <

a Chaplain doing a presentation told us that "PTSD is a NORMAL reaction to an abnormal situation." Oh, really? Is that why it's called a DISORDER? Because it's "normal"? The briefing that I saw (which was actually the outline for teaching the briefing, they didn't actually want to sit us all down at onc

Hulkling/Wiccan in Young Avengers. Northstar in Alpha Flight and various X-Men books. Batwoman in 52 and Countdown (and possibly her own mini-series in the near future). Everything the psychologists used to say was the same sort of psychoanalysis they're always doing. "OMG, Batman made Robin wear such short pants! And he's completely non-commital to a relationship with a woman! And he calls him chum! GAAAAAAY!" If t

Well, take my translation with a grain of salt... like I said, I'm rather rusty. For example, the bit about the air support was (apparently) past tense not future. When (not if) I do more of these, I'll try to remember to link to the original Arabic article (and any English version that I find).

Dude. You know your hubby thinks you're hot. And I hear you're in someone's "hot military wives" friends list. So he must not be the only one. On the other hand, as someone who'd like to lose 20 pounds himself, I can relate to what you're talking about. The only person I want to look better for is me (well, and "my" soldiers, so I can set a good example), but I

I have no concept of how hot it gets here... we do PT before the sun comes up and I'm in an overly air conditioned building for the large majority of any given day. I also don't look at the weather on TV or the internet. I will say that I easily sweated out 2lb of water weight on our ruck march this morning. My ACUs were soaked through.

Saturday, I traveled up to my old stomping grounds to participate in the Coming of Galactus (week 3) tournament for the HeroClix miniatures game. I was disappointed that I wouldn't be going to the usual place for the tournaments and that most of my old friends would not be attending. Those of my friends who are still in the area are mostly working odd shifts, so the

I think it can be useful, as it outlines things pretty clearly and you go into a fair amount of detail of why you want them to behave a certain way. Have you gotten their input on it yet? The rewards, particularly, I would see as negotiable at this point (is that why the weekend bedtime is blank, currently?). I also noted the lack of definition on "doing poorly on a test." Maybe you will make this case-by-case like Amanda suggested.<

what good would be his money if he didn't use it? What good would it do to the poor peoples? (do you have tax sales in the U.S.?) Well, I suppose he could use his additional income as donations to worthy charities and live a more middle-class lifestyle. That would probably take the bad taste out of the mouths of those who perceive him as two-faced in this regard. (I misread your parenthetical as "sales tax." What's a "tax sale?")
