Ah, the excitement! But the pressure as well. Can I live up to your expectations? Especially since I must correct your disillusionment in regards to my gender...I am all female.

I don't really care what they wear. I almost never notice unless it's completely over the top (I'm pretty oblivious to clothes.) It was just the reaction of the people around me. I thought it was pretty petty actually. These people were coming to our office to provide a service to us, granted we were paying for this service. But instead of focusing on the quality of service, all my co-workers could do was gripe about their outfits. *shrug* <BR
Thank you for the prompt welcome! I am very aware of your prominent status in the JoeUser community and am extremely honored that you would take such quick notice of me.
We just had two gentleman come into our office, salesmen from the company that sold us our copy machine a year and a half ago. They check in on us occasionally, just to see how the copier is doing for us and if we need anything. Just generally good customer service and of course, looking to jump all over the opportunity to sell us something else when the need arises
I get an email a while ago from someone that I’ve been struggling for the last 12 years to stay in contact with. He says, “I’ve got a blog now if you’re interested.” The link was there and I clicked it. Hello Joe User. What an amazing site! So many people with extremely differing opinions, writing styles, and interests coming together to share their th
Labels aren't always a bad thing though. I love that people think of me as the "Computer Geek" or "Nerd" or in my office the "Tech Guru." I look at it as a compliment. I don't feel l ike the label defines who I am, but rather that I define the label. You are right: It's all about the attitude. Keep up the blog!
I list at work, like KarmaGirl, but I do it at home too. What works really well for me is to take a whole line item like: Clean Kitchen, and break into several smaller bullets. Clean Kitchen: 1. Load dishwasher 2. Wipe out sinks 3. Wipe down counters 4. Sweep floor 5. Mop floor That may seem excessive (uh, yeah, it is) but it really works! That way even if you don't get the whole kitchen clean, you've done SOMETH
I'm still lost in the technical differences between the IRR & the ING. *shaking head*
EL: can you pass along what you dig up? I had also heard this nasty gossip as related to the ING (Inactive National Guard) of which my SO is a member now. Yeah, I know...the National Guard isn't the "real army" but they all bleed just the same. Thanks! P.S. Hopefully you can dig up enough sweaters to come visit us in the land of the everlasting cold again. It can be a happy place! (we'll take you tubing!!)
If everyone knew all those things, my job would be SO boring... I still haven't told my co-worker where to find the "Any Key." Hey, you gotta find your amusement where you can these days.
Something to consider is the media in which your words are conveyed. The same sentence via email, telephone, or face to face can be received in three different ways.
Hey, thanks for addressing this issue. I was wondering what your take was on the subject especially now the "media blame" is shifting from the soldiers in question to Military Intelligence. Good article!
I've actually had the opportunity to play with Dragon Naturally Speaking (took a class on ADA computer apps). It took a week of "training" to get the software to recognize and reliably translate one of our voices. Throw in an unfamiliar voice and the program was lost. The program did well after training, but it takes time.
FWIW, I think the world is incredibly lucky that there are still some people around who will sit up and take notice. You could've turned your back on the entire scene and gone your merry way unto Tequilaville. You are to be commended for taking the course of action you did. Not only that, you hung around to make sure that nothing further happened. Your prescence was enough. Thank you.
And even then, Ft Ord was shutting down so they'd send you out to a civilian clinic for pre-natal then a posh civilian hospital to deliver. That's not a bad deal. According to some, my brother's autism is directly related to the military care he received as an infant. What do you do? You can't sue and no one is ever held accountable.
