On my mid-level notebook running the released builds, I have seen better stability and the UAC now becoming easy to disable, leaving the notification icon (which can be hidden) in the tray. I am sure that if users could easily remove the UAC, then security experts would basically 'slam' Microsoft for leaving a vulnerability. If I am not mistaken, the UAC is for providing protection for people who don't have any inclination towards learning all the underlying structures of th

I don't see the 64-bit version anywhere. Anyone know where this can be found? The 64-bit download link is right below the 32-bit link. If for some reason you can't see it by clicking on the "Click here to view link" above, try cleaning your cookies out and retry the link. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Wink.gif" border=

Since I have not seen anyone else post the download link, I thought some might be interested. The link below will take you to the download page for Vista RC2, which is currently available. I recommend using the Akamai download manager link. Note - this is for 32-bit version. [Edit - they have added the 64-bit as well] ;)

What is in it for the EU? Publicity, Money, World Wide clout? It would seem that there might be an arguement that the EU is starting to use dirty practices. I doubt any number of corporations could bankrupt the EU, do you have any idea the kind of numbers that memeber states turn over ? Clear your cache to force ObjectDock Plus to load with the defaults. This will tell you whether or not the program is supported to use tabs on the tablet. Note - 'cache' is a general term for the stored preference/configuration files for the ObjectDock program. These files are kept in a normally hidden folder which is referred to by ChrisH in comment #3. To clear the cache: 1 - Close ObjectDock 2 - Open "My Computer > Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab" an

Munterizer, yraq was referring to the disk cleanup functions (which can also be found by opening 'My Computer' > right-click your hard drive - usually "C:\" > select 'Properties'). Once you are in the Local Disk Properties dialog, you should see a "Disk Cleanup" button under the 'General' tab. Click that button to tell Windows to look for any files that can either be deleted or compressed to free up some space on the drive. After Windows finds the information, another

According to the article, they requested permission to develop using the API and were granted permission on two days ago. It sounds like a case of impatience to me. One question that I do not currently know the answer to is: "are the PC manufacturers allowed to sell machines running Vista prior to the January release of the OS to retailers? If not, then there is still plenty of time for a company like Symantec to get their ducks in a row and provide the necessary products to thei

Now that the obvious facts about security while connected to the Internet has been restated, I think most of us are looking for a security software that does not slow the system down. It is truly amazing how slow the load times are after installing any of Symantec's security software. I have to agree that this is more about justification of their software, than helping users. I am currently testing Vista RC1 (5728) on my notebook, with the latest Avast AV (Home 4.7,

From a manufacturing view point (of which I am intimately aquainted), it is much easier to set up the machinery to run one part, than to run a number of parts. A good move on Microsoft's part if you think of millions of that one part being manufactured. They will probably save millions of dollars in manufacturing costs during the full life-cycle of Vista DVD production. As for whether the OS keys can be hacked easier on one disc - I doubt any method of manufacturing is

If the Windows XP Media Center theme is listed in the Display Properties\Themes tab\Theme drop-down list, you could try the following: 1 - Apply the "Windows Classic" theme with WindowBlinds (Start WB > select 'Windows Classic' at far left of list > click 'Apply Changes'). 2 - Reboot computer 3 - Right-click the desktop > select 'Properties' > use the 'Themes tab\Theme list' to select the theme you want > click 'Apply'. Note - this assumes you did not disable

Sending good 'Ki' (Japanese word for life energy), which is to say one is looking at the bright side of a lit wall, not the dark side. BTW - I studied Aikido for 10 years, therefore; the reference to 'Ki'.

If the current (2004+) programs can be updated, and the new programs are incorporating the new abilities in Vista, I would say we could have some real fun with the new OS. If the 2004 - 2006 programs do not run optimally on Vista (with updating provided by the developers) and any lack of 'affordable' new softwares at time of release, there may be a disappointing showing for 2007 sales. I can see why Jim is trying to stoke the fire. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smile

Jafo, Send an e-mail with your mailing address (again;I deleted the one from VistaB2) if you want. Happy to send RC1 32-bit version (huge improvement over B2). I can now say that I will purchase when released. Note - disabling UAC in msconfig and setting the warning icon to 'hide' is an easy fix to the only annoyance (other than Adobe not indicating whether they will offer an update/patch to support the Vista platform for CS2 <img src="http://images.stardock.co

Try clearing the cookies and temporary files in 'Internet Options' and then start Stardock Central. If the server connection still has issues, you can go to the "Tools menu > Settings > Internet category" and use the drop-down 'Current Server' list to select another server if listed and retry the connection. Note - the server connection at 'US-1' is working here in Seattle, WA right now.
