Keikonuim, Have you done the following? 1 - Boot to set-up (BIOS/CMOS settings) screen 2 - Verify that the new drive is recognized on IDE (1) as secondary slave device (note - this assumes that you have the first device on the secondary adapter set as 'Master'. If you have the first device set for "Cable Select", you will need to set the new drive to "Cable Select" as well - assuming an 80 wire ribbon cable - due to the fact that if one device is set to "Cable Select",

Definitely worth it to those interested in having an idea of how the OS will look, operate, and the new presentation of information. There is a trial 'beta' version of Micro Trends internet security suite (recommended on the Vista pages) that has been built for Vista for those who have issues with their current security programs (it works well, although the trial period ends on October 31, 2006 - or at least it does on my machine which was installed last week). Although most h

Did you do the following? 1 - Start IconPackager 2 - With the "Packages" category selected in the upper left of configuration panel, select a theme from the list in the center of configuration panel. 3 - Click the "Load" button. 4 - Click the "Apply" button. 5 - Wait a few seconds for IconPackager to apply the theme. Note - this assumes you are running IconPackager full, or the trial version (within the trial time period). <img src="http://im

Nero will only allow me to burn at 4x.....even though it offers lower speeds during setup, the burn always begins at 4x, no matter how many times I select 1x or 2x. Try it on your wife's machine. I burned the .iso using Nero 6.6 at 2.4x without issue. I suspect it is your new optical drive(s) that are not allowing the slower speed. <img

A couple of your files do not match the current 'offical' release version 5.01.006 released in June 2006. Stardock Central should sort it for you. I would suggest trying the official release first, and then the newer beta release if you have any graphic driver issues.

I got 64% through the download...and it bugged out...so no RC1 here for me Jafo, Feel free to send me your mailing address again (sorry, I lost the previous e-mail ). If one of your machines is up to it, the RC1 is much better than Beta 2. <img src="h

So far, I see the following with RC1: Pros: - Clean install is much easier and faster than any version of XP. - Hardware recognition during install is more efficient than XP. - UI (User Interface) has much better graphics quality (not specifically referring to Aero here, just the actual art work on UI components). Cons: - Running of 2003 graphics programs (I tested with Illustrator 10, Photoshop 7, and CorelDRAW 12) is sluggish at best, consi

If you intend to install to a separate partition, you would normally mount the image with a software like "Daemon Tools", "Alcohol 120%", or another program that can mount an ".iso" image. You would normally "select 'Mount Image' > select the '.iso' image to mount > click 'Open' [or similar]. The auto-play should start and offer the install options. Note - I have not done this with the Vista install, but have seen a number of threads where others have been successful. <img src=

The most simple way to remove the desktop icons is the following: Right-click desktop > Arrange Icons by > deselect "Show Desktop Icons". Note - this will hide the icons. Another popular option is to use the "TweakUI" free utility from MS (easy google search).

I finally bit the bullet about 6 months ago and purchased a 30 GB iPod video unit. I am not sure how much I would watch videos, but being able to place 14+ GB of music on one little handheld is just fabulous. Jogging, walking, and workouts will never be the same again. Apple definitely did things right with the iPod - IMO.

Corky O, that machine will be a screamer. What sound card and speakers will you be using? I haven't decided on the sound system yet. The MoBo comes with the 6 channel SigmaTel STAC9227, and I have a pair of Polk-Audio speakers that do pretty well. I prefer a simple stereo (2 speaker) system where the sound electronics and speakers are h

FoaMDarT, If you installed the new version 1.3, did it activate on the new computer install? This sounds it is quitting due to lack of activation. If you are unsure, you might give a go at: - uninstall (after verifying the processes is not running in Task Manager) - reboot - clear any cache folder - remove any left-over folder in "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder - reinstall (keeping an eye open for the "Activate" section of install procedure, which i

Hope you see this, as I was unable to edit my own post further up in the thread: Your trick worked! When using that particular skin, and applying the two changes, my PC now booted without any problems at all! Good deal! BTW - I also run NIS 2006
