Come on dyno, this is nothing but bunk. First, we are talking an average here - so the person with $100 is averaged with the person who has thousands to spend, so what?! If you were to take an individual person within a given family, who was unable to meet the families "expected level" of gift giving, then yeah, I'd say that you'd have a point. Hell, I don't expect anyone to match my level of gift giving anymore than I'd expect to match anyone

I want Vista Ultimate, but when that will become reality I cannot even offer a guess right now. That and that fact that none of the information that I've seen on 64-bit versions is very clear. Does Ultimate include both 32 and 64-bit versions? Can someone upgrade from say XP Media Center 2005 to Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition? Who knows? In my professional career, I have been an early adopter when I see a business advantage in doing so. On my current office machine I am running XP-64. No

I'm with Baker and LW here on this. These types of brain dead "conclusions" always bother me - like the one where silver is the safest colour of car - puhleese! Knowledge is power, and the key to helping the poor deal with HIV is through education, not cockamamie (pun intended) schemes. Yes, research is necessary. But not this kind of pseudo-scientific "correlation equals causation" research. Think about it for a minute; unbridled sex in unhealthy conditions is the perfect way

It is also said to reduce some cancers for males by the circumcision since the uncircumsized male has the folds that breed bacteria and fungi. In the final analysis, it is not harmful (unless done by a drunk Rabbi), and potentially helpful. I really don't know how you can come to this conclusion Doc. The foreskin is a mucous membrane. It has a purpos

Nothing worse than an insult guised as humour. I was raised Catholic, and consider myself a Christian. When I look at things in life I ask myself, does this action increase goodness/happiness, or decrease it?. Is it a positive thing, or a negative thing. Does it accomplish the goal that it sets out to? Does it solve a problem, or work towards solving a problem? Or is it just a bandage - a way to "manage" a problem, so that it continues rather than gets cured? Santa and

Hey Ziggy, Sounds like you made a fair and honourable deal - you need have no regrets. Caveat Emptor applies today as much as ever. While I enjoy the thought being able to change my mind at most retailers after I've made a purchase; in reality, I rarely bring something back. And usually only then to exchange my item for another size or colour, or another of the same if the one that I bought was defective. There's a world of difference

Okay Jennifer, you've just dumped a lot of opinion on us. Care to back any of it up with facts? I'm not saying that the article is without merit mind you - you do give us some insight into your psyche - but that doesn't justify your opinions. There's a lot here which is easily picked apart, but I'm just about to leave on vacation so I don't have the time to do so (and in fairness, I don't have the time to follow-up on the replies).

I saw it on Monday night and thought that it was good, but not great. I do think that they successfully captured the essence of the original show - and they leave a lot of room for a sequel. Now bear in mind that my buddies and I rarely missed an episode back in the day, but lately when I have caught a rerun on TV, it has lost a lot of its "watchability".

Hi Bluedev, In the past, they charged $9.99/month for the service, but have since made it free. Okay, so what's the catch? I went to their website and looked around, but I didn't walk away with a comfy feeling. Do you know what their business model is? What do I have to give up in order to

One of the most well written, thoughtful and insightful articles I have ever read here at JU. IMO, it should be permanently featured. I was thinking the exact same thing. Using my "comic book guy" voice. Best epsiode, ever!

Okay let's say a group of radical American's (some Timothy McVeigh types) decide to shoot a rocket into Canada. Does Canada have a right to bomb our country, take out civilians, airports etc.? Does the fact that they are wackos and outside of the mainstream matter then, if they are American? As a Canadian, m

And come to think of it, our Cousins to the North have some Territories as well. What is the difference up there? I am not talking about the google explanation, I would prefer to know how it affects every day life for a state vs a territory. I am partly ashamed to admit it, but really I don't know as much

From the linked article: Alongside the fractured concrete and twisted metal was a nightgown, other women's clothes and a white man's shirt. So, those whacky posts on DU aren't so whacky after all. We now have proof that al-Zarqawi was created by Bush and his crew: he was not an Iraqi or a Turk - he was a white man!

Personally I liked James Doohan when he appeared on THE TNG episode titled "Relics", one of my favorite alltime episodes. That episode hit pretty close to home. I really liked this episode as well. I also loved the one where DS9 redid "The Trouble With Tribbles". Not trying to hijack this thread,

I took some salsa and mambo lessons a few years back. I'll admit that I wasn't very good at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. The classes and the dancing were fun, but I can't say that I made any impression on the ladies. I'd like to explore dance further. Maybe come this fall I will give it another try.

Okay, so some on the right like to call the left names like "looney" or variations there of. But when did that start - less than 2 years ago? But liberals have been calling conservatives names for much longer. Have a different view on how to address a social issue - that makes you "mean spirited". <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2006/05/06/gr
