So, Cindy Sheehan paid us a visit up in Canada this week. She's here to defend the indefensible - two members of the American Armed Forces who disserted their posts in a very cowardly fashion and are seeking refuge here. She seems to have come here under the assumption that all Canadians will support her stance - well guess what, many (if not most) of us do not. <

In general, but not always, I am opposed to the death penalty. This is the type of case that affirms my beliefs. For I feel that it is a far harsher and more fitting punishment (as well a greater deterrent to others ) to have the prospect of this individual rotting away in almost total isolation for many years to come.

The response of Bush and his Bushmen to Katrina was woefully inadequate. The hurricane exposed the fact that in spite of having adequate warning about a category 5 storm heading toward Louisianna, Bush did little to mobilise the Federal Government for the tragedy. You mean as opposed to those whose job it re

He was convinced, as were many of the unions, that NAFTA would cost millions of 'American' jobs (Jobs in the good old U.S. of A.) as companies took their businesses and moved them south into Mexico once the treaty was passed. After all, with NAFTA in place, Mexican products would be part of the North American free trade zone, wit

We DO need to get past our insistence on dependence on the government. But we can only do so if we take the time to teach the skills that will allow such independence to be possible. Such an approach necessarily requires un-learning some hundred plus years of backwards thinking and actual involvement in the community, but I have

I told him because of his inability to control his mouth and his attitude that he had just lost a good paying customer and that I would not be back. I then came home and e-mailed Firestone corp about this. A reasonable response IMHO to an unreasonable situation. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" alig

Which is ironic since, when the liars in the music industry put out there propaganda against downloading, they use the line, "it's your favorite artists you are hurting most" While I don't have a source to quote, I remember hearing that the average band was paid something like $0.88 for each CD sold. The Rol

It's just stupid greed on their part. And therein lies the crux of the problem. These greedy dopes (and especially the record labels) have squandered the greatest opportunity that they will ever have to earn money in this new medium by worrying far too much from the beginning about the potential for

Why am I always on a diet? Why is it that 70% of people i know are the same way? Why is it that almost every single one of my female friends and myself included have or has had an eating disorder? It's not like any of us are even close to being "fat." I really don't know what to blame it on. Sometimes I blame my family for saying

Between last Saturday and today, I've worked 111 hours. Or put another way, I was either sleeping, driving home, or doing something else 57 hours last week. As I first started to read this article, I thought, "man, Brad sounds tired". I know what you mean when you say that it is hard to let go - I'v

People who stop in the middle of traffic circles to let traffic enter One of the most dangerous (and unfortunately most common) mistakes that drivers can make is to give up their "right of way". Under almost no circumstances should this be done. The favour that you are doing = the life that you may be t

Sorry, it's not possible. TV is push content. The internet is pull content. The best that you could hope to achieve would be to obliterate the pop-up ad. As for the "bugs" in the corner of the screen, it would be possible to write a program that would remove the image and replace it with an estimated image. The "bugs" tend to be subtle, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what should be behind the image. Using the same technique, you mig

vvvt, vvvt, vvvt, vvvt - ahhhhhhhhh I loved that game too, but you are showing your age. Ha ha ha. A round of Space Invaders anyone? How about Qix? Defender? Bagman? Root Beer Tapper? I have a Robotron 2084 machine not 10 feet from me.

WooHoo....Dita von Teese -- I'd take it as a compliment! I've been putting off getting a new pair of glasses for six months or so. I've only had 2 pairs previously, but each cost approximately $250 Canadian. Like you said, the frames seem reasonable, but the lenses - ouch.

I am diametrically opposed to the notwithstanding clause, but I have no faith that Martin will take any steps towards actually removing it unless he can use it to harm his opponents (read Harper). This smacks of politcal opportunism. I have been reading Latour's articles on the election Latour is politically naive. <TABLE cellpadding

I'm a big believer in intellectual property rights. I don't believe in software patents though; they're a device of lawyers and greedy businessmen. Copyright protection is all that a good developer and an honest businessman truly needs. There are some rules of business that unfortunately many do not understand. I'll only discuss one of them here, and that is - don't alienate the customer who actually bought your product in order to protect you

nice innuendo and conjecture dabe, want to offer any actual proof? Nah, that would require some real work. It's much easier to fabricate lies, spout conjecture, and repeat rumours than it is for dabe to engage her brain.

First, I am not a doctor, so my opinion here is worth exactly what you paid for it. That said, I would never send a child to school if I suspected in the least that they have pink eye. I see no reason why a knowlegeable adult should not go to work with it though. The difference being that pink eye is very contagious in children due to the way that they will rub there eyes and then interact with other children. An adult who is conscientious will avoid

We're kind of caught too....she's the Talented and Gifted teacher. The only TaG teacher for that grade. So, we can't really ask for him to be transferred to another class because he's working at a different level. Why should your child suffer - the teacher's the one with the problem. Ask to have her

One thing that most people misunderstand about atheists, is that the only belief that all of them have in common is that God does not exist. That's it. They are a group of people with a single common disbelief, their beliefs are often as different as any two other people on the planet. Some are anti-religion, some are not. Some are militant, some are not. Some have political affilliation, and some do not.
