Otto Von Bismarck Vs. Niccolo Machievelli Edit: I realize in hindsight you were refering to actual matchups that happened historically, rather than hypothetical matchups that would have been damn impressive to see.

So, you're a Montana State University student, going through the Montana border back into US, and you have to answer the call of nature... and you end up clogging the toilet at the small-town border station. Well, that is rather embarrassing in and of itself. But it doesn't stop there.... you get arrested for clogging the toilet because the authorities think you did i

I've said this in the past.... I think that for third-parties to take any measure of power, they have to start from the bottom up... try to win seats before you try to get a President... I think if their was a real effort to get some seats to put some meaure of pressure on the two major parties in Congress. I think the golden age of the third party was the 19th century... a time when these parties got seats regularly in Congress.

That's how we show dominance right there......if you screw up we're going to eat you...mwahahahaha! A line I'd love to have heard in a Frank Sinatra movie or on married with children: "Top of the food chain, baby, top of the food chain"

You don't need to scream when you have talking points. Repetition is almost subliminal. I mean, I was watching Mr. McClellan giving a press conference yesterday, and he kept whipping out that ever-so-clunky "out of the mainstream" every chance he got.

Angloesque: Maybe it is historical relativism that makes it seem like these days are different than some other times... I believe that there were other times when the office was not respected... the Hoover-Coolidge times for instance... or how about the LBJ presidency(Hey Hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today) Then again, one might be able to make the argument that it would be easier to give the office respect if there were people who sat

Al Franken has recently proposed a different way for individuals to vent their dislike of Bush in a relatively safe and harmless way. He has suggested that citizens who want to voice their disapproval of the current president to open their windows as he approaches the podium to accept the nomination and shout 'Fuggedaboudit!' or whatever term of negation is popular in

TrinaP: oh, you SO have the spirit of this. Confession is good for the musical soul... Let the music play! TW: Could I be anything but Da Man? Groove is in my heart! DA DA DA DA DA DA! HEY! DADADADA! Dusk411: And I vaguely remember you reviewing Debbie Gibson not too long ago. And I am sure that the Spice Girls are going to become kitschy in the near future... I mean, look how fast the eighties came back....

Homer: I get knocked down, I get knocked down again, You're never gonna knock me down, I drink a whisky drink, I drink a chocolate drink, And when I have to pee, I use the kitchen sink, I sing the song that reminds me of a urinating guy... Man, I've sung Tubthumping quite a few times at karaoke... I mean, everyone knows enough of the words that even when you are drunk, its fun to sing. <img src="../images/smiles/smile.g

Gideon, I love that scene.... Speaking of SNL alums.... you just made me think of an episode of SNL that had Helen Hunt and Hanson on it. They had a sketch on it where Will Ferrell and Helen Hunt(both wearing earmuffs) trapped Hanson in an elevator and made them listen to MMMBop over and over and over to show them the pain they caused the world by writing that song... but Will

Edith: I've always said that the way to get rid of those annoying catchy songs in your head is to think of the old theme from the Wide World of Sports. Gideon: How about kajagoogoo? Too shy, shy, hush hush, eye to eye. Ok, I have "hold me now" stuck in my head.... Cosell.... take me away. *thinks of the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat*

I was at epitonic.com last night, and I kept seeing ads for Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose , and seeing as epitonic is more an indie/electronic site, I had to see why they would advertise Loretta Lynn of all people to such an audience. So I clicked the link, and was left stupefied. A player pop-up at the site,

Ravenblack: Someone I worked with felt the same way about that song. But its ok... this is a no judgment zone Edith: Actually, it never would have happened if I didn't see Wil Wheaton on Call for Help... because I ended up reading this entry on his blog that night. thatoneguy: I don't suppose you want to cl

Oh, we all have them... those songs we know we just shouldn't like, but something inside us just makes it so irresistible. Songs with bad lyrics or odd instrumentation, or from an artist that is tacky... or you love heavy metal but deep down, you just need to hear Debbie Boone belt out "You Light Up My Life" when no one is home. Or you like jazz and r

No forbidden pizza episode Well, if you consider the little snippet of one Simpsons episode where Abe was visiting with Homer in the nursery and baby Homer had a piece of pizza, and Abe asked how he kept getting it and the nurse shrugged... well, that would indicate Homer was in fact eating forbidden p

With all these military people here, and there's not really any Full Metal Jacket... I have to say I am a little bit disappointed Are you quitting on me? Well, are you? Then quit, you slimy fucking walrus-looking piece of shit. Get the fuck off of my obstacle. Get the fuck down off of my obstacle. Now. Move it. I'm going to rip your balls off, so you cannot contaminate the rest
