I had a similar problem. For me, I found that iconX was always trying to draw a thumbnail image of every image file on my desktop to use as each image's icon. I had a 15Mb jpg on my desktop which would crash iconX upon startup or if I dragged the image file on to my desktop from some other folder. Removing this large image file from the desktop allowed iconX to load and work properly. I am using IconX 1.11.008

Are you using nView? If so you may have to disable it as it messes with window coordinates and can cause things to appear in the wrong place. Also are you in proper multiple monitor mode? I'm using a two-monitor setup and I see a few glitches using the latest RC version of WB5 (as of Nov 22), 4.99(rc).006. Using a single-monitor display, I don't see these problems. I think this is a terrible slap in the face to the deviantart community. I was there as well, a member of skinz.org until they were sold and closed. And I saw the establishment of deviantart and its success. It'll be really interesting if we suddenly see archive.org lose its cache.

Oh forgot to mention. Craeonics, shockwave.com is actually a spin-off of macromedia. It's a merger of Atom Films (bought by macromedia) and Shockwave (now Atom-Shockwave). Macromedia continues to make software to produce shockwave media regardless. Anyway, the point is don't worry about it.
Oh but I don't believe they're going "out of business." Sorry for the staff they laid off though. As far as I know, they're doing a business restructure.
