So... speaking of the left part of the Startmenu... I set the 'All Programs' so that it does *not* expand automatically expand when I click the Start button, so I have that open field there, which currently only contains the 'Windows Menu' icon... Is there some way for me to add other links there??
I am not sure on extension on trial. But you can purchase a license and ask for refund if it not what you expecting. To answer your question. I made a short video for it. Hope it show you how to add a folder and its cascading menu. Basj, Stardock Community Assistant.
Hi Basj!! Thank you for this video... so I'm trying this again... but there *is* a partial issue with it... So

ummm... I recently exhausted my 30-day trial, but only used it for a few days, as it didn't have ther cascading feature that I require... However, I wasn't aware of the... ummm... 'right panel' ?? Is there a possibility of getting an extension on the trial period, for 10 days or so?? I wouldn't mind taking another look at that... Also, is the menu editable? Can I add links to it, and have those links cascadable?

So, I just got an email from Stardock, saying "The Windows Start Menu that you have been asking for, is here"... So... does it finally have a cascading Programs menu?? I've certainly been asking for that, for many months now... And as always before, if it lacks that ONE FEATURE, it not only is *not* the Start Menu that I've been asking for, it is not of any use to me... Did they finally get this done??

I've been using WB since late last century, and there is *one* quirk that I've always found very frustrating... it is very common for me to find a new theme that I love, except that *one* color will be very undesirable for me - typically bright-white window backgrounds... but I always found Skin Studio difficult to use for such a purpose, so many skins I just ended up not using... Well... I don't know when that 'Modify Style / Manage Presets' option was added to the main WB window,

Hi all; I got an invitation email today, to get Start11... I had recently checked out Start10 (I'm still on Windows 10 21H2), but had backed away because it didn't offer cascading Programs menu. I thought to check out Start11 and see if that had changed, but I don't see a download option, only "purchase now" ... So has try-first option been removed for Start11 ?? If so, I would need to know that cascading Programs menu is available, before I will buy it... Can a

Well, okay, maybe I'll just stick with Open Shell... I was considering trying Start10 because I use WindowBlinds, and would like to have the themes applied to the start menu, but having to go back to that single-column-for-everything menu isn't very desirable to me...

I *much* prefer the old Windows- XP style cascading menus in the Start Menu... I'm using Windows 10 Pro, version 21h2 I have used Classic Start Menu / Open Start Menu for years now, which always offered that option. So for now, I'm investigating Start10, to get thematic Start Menu... but I don't see any way to get cascading Start Menu; the best I seem to be able to get is a continuous, linear start menu... Is this option available somewhere in the program??

Interesting... when I turned off the 'opt-in' beta, Steam immediately installed a 1.3GB upgrade (presumably the standard version), restarted Steam as you recommended, and then when I selected 'opt-in' again, it installed a 1.01GB package, and I'm now running V1.5 !! Don't know *what* happened the first time, but I'm set now!! Thank you for your help, @Rhonin_the_wizard !!

Huh... could I get a clue of *where* this supposed download is available... I click on downloads:manage... I see *there are no downloads in the queue*. On my Steam Library page, it shows the game as "Star Control: Origins [opt-in]", but there is no option to download any V1.50, I still have patch V1.42.76283 ... 1.5 does not appear available in any way... it seems like it should just work, but it just doesn't... ???

Well, I'm confused about this update... I went through the steps to enable the patch, but when I get to the Betas page, and I select "opt-in - v1.50 Preview", it asks for a beta access code, which I don't have. Where does this come from?
I don't know if this is 100% true, but I have heard if you use open shell or classic shell while using windowsblinds it can cause big problems. I suggest making a popup in the installer warn the user.
nyet, current beta version of open shell (V 4.4.168) works fine with WindowBlinds 10... Both the WB folks and the open shell folks did work to resolve those issues. However, yes, classic shell hasn't worked with

Yes!! I probably should have come back here and updated this thread. The current version of Open-Shell has resolved this conflict, and now works pretty well with Windowblinds. I was grateful that the (volunteer) maintainers of that program took the time to look into the issue.

I've been using WindowBlinds on Windows 10 for awhile now, on two other machines. The first machine was a Surface laptop, the second was a desktop machine which had been upgraded from Windows 7 Pro previously. Neither of them exhibited the issue that I'm seeing here... Details on my system: WindowsBlinds 10.84 (059 - Windows 10 Edition) Windows 10 Build 19042 A couple of days ago, I replaced motherboard/cpu/memory/cpu_cooler on my desktop machine, a

I just purchased and installed the beautiful Meranti theme... so nice... I have one confusion, though... one of the reasons that I got it, was because the sample image showed really cool skinned folder icons in Explorer... but I'm not getting those... So what package skins the icons?? This is actually something that I've wondered about in the past, but this issue finally got me to post the question !!
My biggest problem has been that I'm running Win10 on several VM test machines, and certain skins consume *huge* amounts of CPU or GPU time. The Diamond skin looks (visually) the best to me (and plays well with Open-Shell), but it makes the VM almost unusable due to GPU loading. (This is on 3-year-old hardware, so maybe not an issue on newer machines?) Corporate runs just fine on all the machines, but I really want the look
I've been using Open-Shell with WindowBlinds on several Windows 10 machines. The only problem I've had so far is that some skins use a *ton* of CPU or GPU resources. None of the skins (Acrylic 7, Corporate, Diamond) have resulted in the Taskbar problems that you've described.
Really ?!?! That's interesting... Are those all skins which came with WB? Or are some of them user-dev

27 Replies 58,742 Views

Okay, this be resolved... dang it... I was using a start-menu replacement program called Open Shell, which is a fork of the older Classic Shell (including Classic Start Menu). I didn't think it was involved with this issue, because it does not affect the taskbar. However, I went ahead and removed it, restarted Windows, and now WindowBlinds is working just fine. New skins load fine, and are remembered across restarts. Damn... I *love* Classic Start Menu, I hate

27 Replies 58,742 Views

Well... that was interesting... @almonty - I did that last reboot... no affect on the symptoms. @basj - Okay, I did the cleanboot routine... and got a different result. First, when I logged out after creating the Admin account, then logged back in with that account... Windows came up with the 'Acrylic 7' theme properly loaded !! So far so good... However, once I try to load any other theme, even one of the default themes, then I get a variant of my
