You really have to give Microsoft some blame here for the changing of the times. Windows 10 is / was a very theme friendly OS. Windows 11 simply isnt. I'd go as far as to say Microsoft has kind of been unfriendly to third party's throughout Windows 11. As far as theming and skinning goes, there is a Windows 11 problem that need addressed before themes can make a comeback on a Windows 11 device. One solution is to splice in W
Quoting Derell Licht, reply 10 Well, except that the WB developers *do* have a vested interest in making interesting themes available to users... as it stands now, most of the actually interesting themes that exist, are not visible on your site... I see the database lists 5,597 Windowblinds as curre

Okay, "not commercially viable", I understand... However, why not at least have a pinned page somewhere, preferably on WinCustomize, that contains links to the various authors' pages, so users can find these sites?? Or does this already exist?? I haven't seen it...

Hi, Master LightStar !! I'm so grateful to see you still sticking around... and thank you for providing the above link to your page, where I just found a beautiful new theme that I'd never seen before - Bejeweled ... it is now my happy desktop !!! I just wish there was some well-known, well-documented source where all of the existing Masters could at least list their sites, if not show new content... waitaminit... isn't that what we *used* to have here ?? I find it interesting that nobody has commented, in this thread, about Stardock having cancelled the Master Themer program (which allowed theme creators such as @don5318 to create paid themes...). The result of this decision, is that all of the skilled theme creators (with the partial exception of @LightStar, who is sporadically re-releasing his older free themes, but nothing new) have abandoned the platform entirely. Yes, these artists *do* mostly have their own pages for ma

This is cool!! I just discovered that Start11 V2.07 actually has the cascading "All Programs" menu that I had requested in the past... I'm using Windows 10 Pro, and WindowBlinds V10.89. I open Start11, right-click "All Programs", and select "open as a menu" ... and HUZZAH!! I have a cascading Programs Menu, as I've been requesting for some time... (I'm using Windows 7 style for Start11). However, it has a few quirks that I'm hoping I can configure: 1. I

I'm curious about this decision to end the Master Skinners program... doesn't this essentially mean that virtually all theme development will come to an end?? How do we interpret this? I mean, theme generation was slowing in recent years before that, but at least the Masters were still developing... what is the vision for the future of WB ??

11 Replies 16,745 Views

Wow... this sounds like a bad trend... at a minimum, there is no longer a single site to see what new themes are available. New users coming into WB aren't going to know that there are other places to look for themes; I wonder if this signals a general move away from WB entirely??

11 Replies 16,745 Views

I've noticed, during recent visits, that all of the WB themes on WinCustomize are free themes... all the paid themes have vanished?? I'll admit, I typically leaned toward free themes, but I've purchased quite a number of the paid themes, as long as they didn't exceed the cost of the base program!! In particular, I have quite a collection of themes by @don5318, who seems particularly able to create visions that really appeal to me!!... but they are all gone?? What does this
That is the Windows 10 style representation of the all programs list.
So does Stardock simply reject any consideration of offering the Windows XP style of actual, real, useful cascading menus, in StartXX ?? Because what you are offering now, continues (after years of discussion) to be completely useless to me, and I'm having to continue to use Open Shell to get a usable start menu... and my repeated upgrade

Well, okay, I looked at that, but the Start11.V2 "menu" really doesn't make much sense... it appears to be just random file listings, not at *all* related to the contents of the Programs folders, which are listed at: C:\Users\ \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs This is what Start11.V2 "menu" shows on my Windows 11 laptop: https://www.flickr.com/photos/derelllicht/53302929082

Well, I bought the upgrade and installed it, but really don't understand what options I have... I turned on 'All programs list', then tried turning 'Start menu should open showing all programs list', but that simply does not give me cascading menus... I *still* don't see any way to get a Windows-XP-style cascading Programs menu, as I get with Open Shell; See included image below: https://www.flickr.com/photos/derelllicht/53303909539
You can disable that "Mouseover Glow"(drop down arrow graphic). If you have Skinstudios 10 you should be able to remove it. It just Mouseover glow graphics. It should not effect the skin function. Basj, Stardock Community Assistant
Okay, I see that page, but I'm not sure what exactly I should do to 'disable' this function... Well... sadly, no, there are no steps to reproduce it consistently!! It *does* seem to happen more frequently with web browsers, but then those are the programs that I use most frequently, so that doesn't tell us much!! I probably open or restore a browser window, several dozen times per day, and this happens maybe 5 times/day or so!! What a mystery...

This isn't an actual problem, just an odd thing that happens now and then, but if someone knows how to resolve it, I'd like to know... I'm using WB 10.89 on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 build 19045.3570 Every now and then, I'll get this odd quirk where the popup button for Minimize or Maximize will stick on the screen, and won't go away (see example linked below). Hovering the cursor over it doesn't make it go away. Eventually it goes away on its own, but I haven't found

WHOA!!!! PROBLEM FIXED !!! Since I already have a license for Start11, I went ahead and installed/activated it... It indeed solved all these problems, all themes installed and displayed properly... However... I still require Open Start Menu (OSM), to make that menu usable; so I set Start11 to "not run at startup", then ran OSM again... *and the WB11 themes are working fine now* !! I then restarted the computer (booting to OSM), and everything cont
I think, to test it always best to use those default skins that come with WB. From there, if it still appear, than, we know its not skin related. If it only appear on some skin, than it is most likely skin related. Try and see if the issue appear on skins like diamond, acrylic 7, corporate. Use those skin that come with white clear taskbar while you on dark mode. If the taskbar don't paint properly, you can easily see it dark taskbar instead a w

Ahhh, interesting... so I downloaded another user-created skin (this one free), using the "Download more styles" option in WB11, and that one renders just fine also... Okay, tomorrow I'll uninstall all of my user-created skins, and download them fresh from Wincustomize... then we'll see what happens; The skins that I added in here, I had copied from my existing backup disks as .wba files; maybe there's something wrong with those files?? For now, though, I'm beat... I'll
