I just updated Window Blinds (or Curtains, I guess it's called now). Now, Windows continually crashes when File Explorer is open. How can I roll back the Curtains update?

Thanks, Nakibest, your instructions worked perfectly. I uninstalled following your instructions, rebooted, installed v2, and all my icons marched right back to their original fences.
No, I haven't used Impulse in..I don't know when. When originally installed, Stardock was between update methods and I had to install Fences (and the other parts of Object Desktop) individually. (I'm so happy that's not necessary anymore.)
The exact message is: Previous Version Found "Please uninstall the previous version of Fences AND REBOOT before proceeding with the Fences 2 installation. The Install will now exit." (The capitalized words were in the error message and not me shouting.) Analysis of Windows Event Viewer yielded nothing, and I could find nothing else on my computer, machine- or software-wise, that is causing this disagreea
I'm on Win 7. I use Fences on my desktop and I'm on my laptop right now -- I'll get you the exact error wording tomorrow when the painkillers and Ativan have worn off. (I can probably manage a screenshot through one of the graphics programs I have.) IIRC right now, the message has to do with certificates of some sort, and is telling me to completely uninstall Fences Pro before installing Fences 2.0. Hence, the part of my message that above about not being able to save
Is there any way to save your icon layout while my computer upgrades from Pro to v2.0 (after I manage to get past the certificate problem -- something I have yet to manage successfully)? Do I really have to take a screen shot so that I can find out what was in the fences, and then manually search all five hard drives to get them back into the new Fences? If v2.0 doesn't save the layout when it upgrades, that is a SERIOUS oversight on the part of Stardock.
Is it possible to spread Fences over two monitors (and have them stay that way through reboots)?
OK, I agreed you guys are right. Here's how I got the update to work: 1) Go to Tools > Advanced Settings 2) Highlight PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs) Exceptions 3) Add the following exceptions: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Impulse\Impulse.exe (check the Any Location box) C:\Program Files\Stardock\Impulse\ImpulseSelfRefresh.exe (check the Any Location box) C:\Program Files\Stardock\Impulse\CleanImpulse.exe (check the Any Location bo
Just an update -- the Impulse window eventually loads, but when checking for Object Desktop updates, Impulse tries to update again -- triggering more antivirus warnings. Checking for updates is impossible right now. Stardock definitely needs to check this.
The lastest impulse Update is stopped by AVG 9, with the notice that it contains Win32/Zperm. AVG says it has had no notices of false positives on this virus or Stardock's site. Stardock needs to check its update server for this virus. If you let it run for a while, eventually the update bulls it's way through -- but I'm definitely going to run a full antivirus check tonight.
Every so often, I'll download a skin for Window Blinds that I end up not using because it totally resists explorer window background skinning. It there some setting I can fiddle with in Skin Studio and/or Window Blinds to stop this resistance?
Retire early and have an essentially meaningless life, or retire late and have a full life?
Well, it seems that Stardock simply wants me to give up on WindowBlinds 7. They sent me a link to WindowBlinds 6, sent detailed uninstallation instructions for WB7 (basically uninstall, check to be sure all related files are gone, and then manually delete all registry entries), instructions on how to fix the damage this will do to Impulse -- all with no guarantee that any of this will actually work. I could end up with no version of WB that actually works -- or possibly worse.&nbs
Well, I ran the "update." It didn't even ask for a reboot, though I rebooted anyway. No discernable effect, however.
OK, here's something strange...I just checked for updates on Impulse and the update for WindowBlinds 7 says "WindowBlinds 7 - Previous Version Installed." Since I have WB7 installed, I don't know what to make of that, except that it's telling me that it wants to remove some WB6 elements that shouldn't be there. Is that what Impulse is trying to tell me?
We have located some keys which were not being blanked and the next WB update will force these to blank. The keys in question are the ones for controlling the explorer backgrounds colour & saturation from WB6.
It sounds like transparent explorer backgrounds are being stuck on which is causing it to ignore the skin defined backgrounds and the blanking filename issue. I suspect there is a leftover key from WB6 thats confusing WB as WB7 uses different regkeys. You shouldn't need a newer graphcis card to use WB so thats ok.
Looking through the Registry, there are a lot of references to WB6 -- but I don't
PurrBall: I cannot download WB6 (or anything else) through Stardock Central. I get an error message that (this is a paraphrase) that Stardock is no longer using the Stardock Central platform and downloads/updates are exclusively through Impuse now. Chasbo: Still waiting for a reply from Stardock. I'm guessing it is delayed because of the holiday, but I expect a reply Monday or Tuesday. Neil: There are several problems I have with WB7. A minor i
I'm not happy with WB7, and I'd like to roll back to WB6. Unfortunately, it's not available on Impulse, and I can't find any download link anywhere, even after a Google search. Where can I download v6?
Explorer skinning in WB has never worked for me on two different computers, one running Windows XP and one Vista. I had been using Skin Studio 6 to skin my explorer backgrounds, but after I installed WB 7 on my Vista machine, even Skin Studio is unable to apply explorer backgrounds, and of course, WB can't skin my explorer backgrounds either. Here's the text on the "About Window Blinds" tab. Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 3.7 Your Windows
Is there any procedure to easily roll back to WB 6.4.x, or do I have to go the uninstall/reinstall route?
What I could really use is the opposite of Multiplicity -- something that allows me to use more than one keyboard on one machine. With arthritic wrists, elbows, and shoulders, being able to add another numeric keyboard I could program as shortcut keys would be great!
One day, when I need a new computer, I'll have Windows 7. Right now, my Vista is rock-solid (after a few hiccups that have been solved) -- but I didn't even get Vista until I needed a new computer that happened to have Vista on it.
Uhhhh...hot! hot! hot! ??? It's embarassing that I'm old enough to remember dancing to that song...
