The Oil companies do not set the price of oil. The free market does. Not even communist China can dictate what the price of a barrell will be, they can only influence the price at the pump through fees and taxes. Okay I agree with you on speculation Doc. I just don't understand the volatile oh gas.

Does 'ceteris paribus' mean anything to you? Are you crazy? His head will explode just trying to read the words. Actually I think he does believe in ceteris paribus but his definition would be 'with other things [being] the same (pointing blame to Bush).'

here is a fact the politicians seem to ignore, the oil companies make around 9 cents a gallon selling gas, there is 42 cents in taxes on that same gallon that is between state and federal taxes. Well, than maybe you can tell me. Are the constant price fluctuations due to gov't taxes or cost of oil?</fo

It was Bush that prevented the higher mileage for cars. People buy what people buy. higher mileage cars have been evolving especially since the 80's. Then there was a shift into SUVs. To say that Bush is responsible for these consumer shifts gives way too much credit to one man. Sounds to me you loo

The issue is supply and demand. Ha ha. Now your funny. Now you sound like my ingnorant coworker. Naive and narrow minded. But I guess since you believe economics is at the hand of one man Bush. So it at least follows your thinking. Does 'ceteris paribus' mean anything to you? Just plain silly.

I'm totally for capitalism MM. But I guess greed is just too powerful. The nice thing for me is I only live 4.5 miles from my work. It only takes 3-5 minutes longer riding a bicycle than driving. I feel like I may resort more to my fiance's county's lifestyle. Drive only when neccessary. Hmmm I wonder if I have enough room in my backyard for a horse?

I find it quite remarkable that Exxon and Chevron are ALL reporting record earnings. I believe I just heard on the Radio that Conoco-Phillips said the samething regarding 4-th quarter earnings. Just irks me. the irked Adventure Dude

Either way this was more to annoy Col than anything, lol. Understand your application supply and demand. The problem I see is this market doesn't follow this economic graph. Fear is the MAJOR variable which is detrimental in this US Buffalo heard.

You may want to look into forces of nature. They have some AWESOME oils that work. Pricey but good stuff. In fact I am planning on trying one of their oils for a small area of skin that was traumatized by a bicycle crash (stopped my self with my forehead, not a recommended ). But their stuff brings balance and order into the system. Just a thought. AD<

Jess, I agree for the most part with you. Yes I think companies should set the price for their own goods. I understand that the people that work for them need to eat and deserve to make a living just as I would want. What I still don't understand is after the TWO hurricanes and the highest gas prices recorded how Exxon could report the highest earnings for the third and fourth quarters AFTER the hurricane. Just like you though when things

I am not fond of the medicine buzz or that fog it puts you in. I am finding that there are natural remedies (which may cause perceptions of me to change:P) that work and actually restore health better than perscriptions. One example is nettles. Awesome for alergies. I used to have terrible alergies for months. Now I get a sniffle and water eyes for maybe a day or two. Prevention I find is the best medicine. Haven't dealt too much with the skin d

Col, It is my hope that you have seen a lighter side of JU that isn't so politically charged. Granted such articles don't get as much attention but it shows a more rounded person. Can we expect more in the future? AD

Yes Cheney is profiting on his stocks. Would you want our second in command of the country to be a poor investor and poor control of his investments? I wouldn't even want that for the corp. I work for. But maybe that's just me. AD
