Pershing isn't hell...Rawlins is hell. Honestly, I loved the majority of staff there and I loved the kids. I was happy till it all came down at the end. How would I know it was you unless you identified yourself? And change? I would have loved to change things, but I certainly didn't run the show there. It isn't all anybody else's fault. And at this point, I don't care. I love teaching where I am now. I wasn't a good fit at yo

Today was that last day here at our school for one of my students. She's been here since the beginning of the year, and she's a brilliant little girl. I'm going to miss her. I hate crying when a student leaves, especially when I know it's coming, because I feel like a big dork. I know lots of you disagree, but I think that a relationship needs to be established with children before what you say can mean anything to them. I have kiddos that test my patie
Yes, because having several coffee breaks every day is DEFINITELY being "all about kids." You never talked crap about me behind my back? That's interesting, because you CERTAINLY talked crap about OTHERS behind their backs, so I have a hard time believing that it didn't extend to me. I'm not saying I didn't screw up last year, because I did. Very badly in fact. And I'm trying really hard not to make those same mistakes that I did last year. The things I s
*Do you ever wish that you had a "snapshot" of the future? What would you want to see? *I had a training for our math series today. It was ridiculous. It was the SAME darn thing we did in the fall. If I'm going to be away from my students for a day (my students do NOT do well with a sub at ALL--plus I miss them), I at least want it to be good. I can read ALL the manuals myself. I can! I kind of got thrown into it this year because my cur
I guess I don't necessarily understand what you're saying here, because it seems with you I have a reading comprehension challenge type of thing. People make mistakes. I get that. I know my life is full of them. On a daily basis. Apology accepted. And I wasn't very nice to you lots of times either, so I hope you'll accept my apology as well. I hope that things are falling into place for you and your family.
Bahu: It's not that I want to quit teaching, I just want to be in a different state teaching. :) But on the other hand, I'm with you...some days I just want to go far, far away and never return to my classroom. I have a CRAZY bunch of second graders this year, and two very mean, vindictive bully little boys. I love them nonetheless though. They're AMAZING people. AMAZING. I can pinpoint the one or two that will end up in prison, but with the rest of
I haven't written much about school this year, because frankly, I learned my lesson last year. This year has been a totally different experience. By this time last year I already knew I was not going to be invited back. I asked my current principal for a letter of recommendation and she basically told me that I was not allowed to leave. It's nice to be loved. Last year I was aching for some learning of my own. I took a class on Reading Recovery because
I've heard that kidney stones for men are akin to labor pains. And its definitely nice to know that you're not crazy. I thought with my headaches I was going nuts. A $2500 clear MRI and MRA and a simple blood test later...it's diabetes. A year of hellacious headaches later, some fortamet, and the headaches are virtually gone, except when my sugars are too high. At least there's something really wrong. I'm babbling, but I hope you feel better really soon, and the "passing" g
Danny Noriega bothers me. As does Castro. Blah. I really like Brooke White for the girls. And Kyesha. I guess I think the chicks are more interesting than the guys. TOmorrow night will be interesting!
lol...the doctor says that eggs are good for the diabetic diet. They're also good for the budget. We'll have to see how the cholesterol comes back this time. I usually have two eggs and a piece of toast or one of my burritos for lunch, and oatmeal, a cheese stick, and a piece of fruit for lunch (because I can get single sized portions of oatmeal for like $2/10--so that's 50 cents for a decent lunch). Then we usually do supper together. LW--your frittata r
S~ You're not on my blacklist...it's weird that you can't comment...
[quote] I have a few bills that I divided in half and paid 1/2 prior to the due date and then 1/2 on the due date. Mortgages hate when you do this because you will save so much on interest.... It helped balance my paychecks out a bit more and it worked so well that I started to pay other bills "before" they would be due. At one point I was paying all my bills 30-45 days prior to the due date. I just paid what I figured I'd owe and if I was off, well, I'd make a
We haven't checked our credit for about a year. So we're probably okay. We will be able to afford to pay the plumber, and we're going to pay off several other high-interest bills when my finanical aid from college clears. 20% or 2% interest? I'd rather pay 2%. And, other than educational debt, there will be no new debt added to it. I talked to Ryan tonight about teaching summer school as well. I applied for a Fulbright Scholarship to go to Japan t
Tova~ You're right on. And that's where our budget gets fubarred. We have a hard time planning our meals. We figure that two weeks is probably okay for us as far as meal planning goes. We try to cook every other night because neither of us really like to do it. But if I plan seven meals and Zigs plans 7, it never fails that he's stuck in Crapdunk Utah for two or three days. I think we just need to purchase some other cheapy things like soup for me to
Oh, B....that's so exciting. Congratulations!
The past few days have been absolutely GLORIOUS. It's been in the early to mid 30's, with sunny skies and melting snow. After the past few weeks of snowstorm after snowstorm, interstate closure after insterstate closure, this is AMAZING. I was able to go full-speed on the interstate today (full speed is about 60 for me to save on fuel costs) with no fear of
So, today, a colleague and I went to the college to sign up for a wellness challenge. It cost $5, and the exercise science students at the college measured flexibility, strength, and body composition. After you did all the assessments, you got to consult with one of the students. I also get free access to the college's weight and cardio facilities for free on Tuesd
Ryan made this absolutely delicious dinner last night, and if you like Mexican with a little kick, you should DEFINITELY try it. It's also made with things that you'll PROBABLY have on hand, so that's nice, too. Southwest Smothered Chicken 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (or, you know, however many you need for your family) 1/2 tsp gro
I generally hate football, but this was a DAMN good game. I hope I pissed the neighbors off with my whooping and hollering the way they piss me off with their freaking eardrum bursting video-game playing. Go Giants! A game WELL-PLAYED. And Randy Moss...go blow a goat, you ugly, dumb ass mofo!
Welcome back to the mainland! It's like meeting you might actually be an affordable reality now. Because I know you so want to. lol !
I had my second observation last year. It went swimmingly, although I'm a little concerned that my principal isn't hard enough on me. There is ALWAYS something (and in my case, lots of things), that someone can improve upon, and I know that my lesson was less than perfect. I like suggestions to improve, and I didn't get any. It just worries me that another princip
There was a TON of snow in Minnesota. Not so much here in Wyoming. Strange.
Thanks, FS. Is 2008 treating you well?
Here are some photos from my trip to Minnesota. Some Rockies from the airplane. <a href="http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y214/ziggy
Leauki: Yup...I'm over 100 fasting. I was really high this morning...like 132. I hadn't eaten for 12 hours, and I took my meds, so I should have been lower. I usually hover right above 100 for fasting. What's postprandial? I'm assuming that's after I eat. I test two hours after I eat and I'm usually between 125 and 180 (I know that's a large range, but it really does depend on what I eat and what I do during the day). I think its time f
