Because of the touchy nature of this subject, I want to make a quick disclaimer. In general, I disapprove of abortion. I have never had one (actually never been pregnant) but have had very close family members who have made that difficult decision. I am voicing an opinion and I'd appreciate it if all criticisms were directed at my comments and not me as a person! That being said, your argument is a very muddled one. Here is what I got out

I am planning on it. My fiance's sister is a student at Wake Forest and I am going to enlist her help in wallpapering the campus with warning flyers!
When I started graduate school in August of 2004 I was required by the university to purchase student health insurance. They gave us the information on a company that provides insurance to students at a "discount" rate. The school is Wake Forest University in Winston Salem NC and the insurance company is student insurance (http://www.studentinsurance.net).
I kind of felt that way too. I have a background in medicine and psychology and he definately didn't seem all there. I didn't feel threatened, but it was an uncomfortable experience to say the least!
Every two months or so I take an hour out of my day and donate blood. I won't turn this article into a ideological soapbox, so I'll get to the meat of the story. For those of you who have never donated, here is a little background. The donation center has a little canteen stocked with sodas, doughnuts, crackers, and various other goodies. These are provide
I second the motion on the Breakfast Club. Definately a classic! Also, another great movie from that time period is "Saint Elmo's Fire." It is a different cast (a young Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez) but it is a great coming-of-age movie! I think you'd enjoy it!
Yeah you goddam are you tree loving hippy peacenik communist asshole. Fuck the trees and fuck the world and if the faggot Europeans don't like it then we'll go a few rounds. Do you miss the Soviet Union that MUCH? Ah, how you assume to know so much about me because I disagree with you. I did not say w
At the end of the day it comes down to one thing, whether you support freedom and our President or whether you hate freedom and support the enemies of America. Why is it that I am automatically deemed a traitor and a freedom-hater just because I don't support Bush's foreign policies? Last I checked, I
No worries! I'm just glad people are finding out about this proposal. I recommending spamming everyone in your address book with this information. We have 4 other justices who own property that would be far more beneficial to economic development as say used-car lots or Hooters Restaurants. Philomedy, I like your suggestion...I may consult you before posting from now on
I know I know, people are already aware of the Supreme Courts decision. But you need to check out this Link . There is a guy in Weare, NH proposing to use the new Eminent Domain standard to build a hotel...on the land owned by Justice David H. Souter. The proposed name of the hotel? "The Lost
I know we don't get to vote for our supreme court justices and I think that there is wisdom in that. The attempt to keep them incorruptable and uninfluenced by political pressure is vailiant. However, we do get to vote for our mayors, congressmen (and women), and other local, state, and federal officials. So what we need to do is vote for candidates who have strong moral fortitude and who won't be corrupted by the corporations waving big money in fr
I like talk radio. I can't help it. It is the only way to keep up with the obscure news stories that the national media doesn't report on. This morning, as I sipped my too-sweet Dunkin Donuts coffee, I flipped the radio dial to Neal Bortz. Now, I'll be honest. Sometimes he annoys the crap out of me and I can only spend 45 seconds listening to him before I begin s
I recently started graduate studies at a very prestigious school, reputed to have one of the best programs in the county for my chosen field. But lately I'm wondering if I made a mistake. My boyfriend of 2 1/2 years lives about 3 1/2 hours away from me. He is working on his masters in business administration. We will finish at the same time and are planning on get
I feel like I have to completely cut him off in order to live a healthy, functional life. But what am I going to do when I have children and they start asking about their grandfather? I don't want to lie to my children because I would be no better than my father if I continue the cycle of lies. I know I have to forgive him because if I don't, I will carry that baggage with me forever. But it is really hard to forgive someone who does not wa
So many people let the pain in their lives rule them forever. The sins of the father become the sins and pain of the child. My father is an asshole. He is manipulative, emotionally and psychologically abusive. When my parents split up 2 1/2 years ago because of his rampant infidelity, I tried to forgive him. I tried to maintain a relationship with him.
I was recently on another site where the members were having a lively discussion about Michael Moore, Bush and the war in Iraq. One person posted, in my opinion, a rather frigtening statement. He was discussing the WMD debate and said that we were justified in invading Iraq because "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." Take a minute, let it sin
Let me preface this by saying, I'm a non parent. That being said, I am also a masters student of psychology. Your younger son's behavior is normal. Children with older siblings often act out as a way of getting attention. Also, 4 year olds often do not have a sense of how their actions impact others. Maybe try sitting him down next time he damages his brothers possessions and discuss with him how he would feel if someone broke his toy. By making
There is an excellent book on the subject of Synchronicity that I think you should read. It is by Dieke Begg and is titled "Synchronicity". In this book she deals with the little coincidences and happenings in our lives that direct our actions and ultimately the outcome of our lives. Maybe things keep happening that prevent you from pursuing your educational goals because it is not the right time. " Along the way I have learn
I moved into a new high school 5 weeks after the start of freshman year. I didn't know a single soul and man did it suck! But over time, I met people who wanted to be friends with me because of who I was, not because of who I was dating, what clothes I was wearing or what kind of car I drove. Those are the friends that I still have today. Don't try and change who you are just so the popular kids will like you. I guarantee that in the lon
First off, no one can tell you what to think. That is the biggest problem with organized religion today. People go to church and are told by a priest or preacher what to think about the Bible. I say, read the book, cover to cover and decide for yourself. As a Christian (Quaker if you must know the denomination) I believe in the New Testament as the life and words of Jesus Christ. Jesus was a man who preached love, forgiveness, charity, and
But what if the service happens to be amazing but you don't happen to have enough money? Why should your server have to penalized b/c you don't have enough money to tip them what they deserve. Tipping shouldn't be an arbitrary thing. If you are going out to eat, make sure that you have enough just in case you happen to get amazing service.
Thank you shadesofgray! If you can't afford to tip, don't go out to a restaurant where you will have a server. And yes, we have great memories. To furry: I have never said that all people are bad tippers. I do not "lash out"at my customers. They all receive good service, no matter what. Even those that are repeat bad tippers, I do not give them bad service. I just may not go back and check on them several times like I would to a known
I agree completely. There are extremes no matter what you look at. The ones that irritate me are the ones that scream and rant and rave. I want to hear calm, well thought out, well researched political discussion and debate. If I wanted to hear two people scream at each other without either party making a coherent argument, I'd just throw my parents in a room together. "He who establishes his argument by noise and command shows that his re
First, to citahellion, THANK YOU! You don't know how much a busy server appreciates a good tip when they are really busy and really making the effort to serve well. Now, to Furry... t sounds like you have a serious grudge against employers. I live in the USA, where tipping your waitress is a cultural norm. Our federal government has set the minimum wage for tipped employees at $2.13/hour. Here is the link to web site that proves it. <B
I'll admit, I do throw the ya'll in every now and again and believe me, my family gives me heck about it. I love the south (a heck of a lot warmer compared to NY), but I know the stereotypes that are out there. I was hoping to make light of them by giving an exaggerated example. I have met plenty of intelligent people with thick, southern drawls! If you like quotes, you should read Khalil Gibran. He is an excellent poet/writer! "W
