Actually, I don't poke fun at the coasts. But the truth is, the liberal people live in the cities. 90% of the land in this country is occupied by lower-middle class people, and these people tend to be republicans. See the problem with your theory is, MM, that if you cut a 25 mile swath from the california coast, the state would have far less than a million people. For example, let's take michigan. If we cut everything more than 50 miles from Detroit or

Congress denounces and praises individuals all the time with legislation. They have senate hearings that investigate the actions of individuals. Yet in this case, you seem to think that they are barred from acting on an individual's behalf? Why, just because you differ with them, or do you have something that says it is ag

Baker, I don't know where you come up with some of this stuff. What does Roe v. Wade have to do with this? That was a COURT decision, made by the supreme court. The parents of Terri appealed to the supreme court, they declined to hear the case. Thats all there is to it. And this doesn't have to do with states rights or federal rights or anything like that. This has to do with congress interfearing with precidented judical order, and not through a full

Your rhetorich is a little crazy. Please read my article on this issue, that I just posted today, http:/forums.joeuser.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=3&AID=69540#537494

Oh also, I wanted to mention this: At first, when I heard starve to death, I thought 'Oh my god, that’s terrible!', however after reading an article in the Detroit Free Press, I realized that it is not in fact 'starving' but rather an easy and painless way to go. To sum up the article, dying patients don't feel any hunger, they are calm and collected, their heart slows down as the food supply drops, the only negatives are dry mouth and other s

I don't speak for all liberals, but liberals don't want innocent people to be murdered. In fact, we think its one of the worst possible crimes in the world to kill someone. For this reason, the Terri Schiavo issue is very tricky to deal with. Here’s the biggest thing: IF (and only IF) Terri Schiavo wanted to die then she should be allowed to. Now I don't have personal knowledge of whether or not she wanted this, nor do you have personal knowledge that

Baker, you have ended up one my very short shit list. Actually, you are theo nly one on it. I respect the views of moderateman, frustrated with him as I might get. You, though, are a cantankerous individual and I will have nothing to do with you... by the way, maybe look through my articles, and you will find I am not the king of copy and paste.. in fact I write sophisticated, educated, articles. Actually Baker, I have never liked you, not since the fi

No baker.. she would be deameaned by what has happened with her body if she were here today. First, some people aren't completley selfish, and they decide that when they are done, they are done, and they don't want to take up space for a body that will never think again. Second of all, if you died, and then your corpse were draggged behind a car, or displayed, rotting, on tv to millions of viewers, I'm sure that would be demeaning to you, if you were

Sandy----what the fuck are you talking about? Its the GOP that's trying to save her. What paper are you reading? The fact is, the law says that you are allowed to write in your living will that you want to be allwoed to die, which in this case would mean starving to death. The republicans refuse to allo

I repeat no one deserves to be starved to death........... unless they want to be... actually, I would much perfer assisted suicide, but republicans apparently would perfer to people starve to death.

The core building cost can't be added to the build out cost to find a complete cost, because cost is much less when both are done at the same time under the same contract. I don't know much about the cost of building offices, but I do have some close friends who just built a few office buildings, and they said the construction industry is just the pits (with the corruption and bad workers, etc.)

a) If she stated she wanted to be starved to death, then why is there such a debate over the whole ordeal? I don't honestly know. Maybe the repulbicans are using this for political purposes. Courts have ruled that she did in fact want to die, and thats that.

Not accepting a bid for 10 million dollars to stop his legal battle to allow his wife to die with dignity tells volumes about his honesty. Obviously he is not out for money. He wants what his wife wanted, what millions of us would want if we were in a similar situation.

So, that makes it ok? What makes it ok is a) she wants it and b)shes been virtually dead for the past 14 years and c) her husband says she wants it and approves of it and he is her gaurdian oh and d) 19 judges have said its ok, and now congress is breaching the seperation of powers.

Either way your reasons are bogus, and she is being starved to death. Worse, a precedent is being set that we can kill off morbidly handicapped people that we get tired of dealing with. She is being starved to death... but she can't feel it. She wants to die, she has no reason to live, why can't she be

You are *grossly* misinformed! She is most CERTAINLY conscious! And she DOES do feel. Unfeeling people do NOT laugh. Try reading the links I posted, fool. I'd like to hereby report Dr.miller to the "authorities" for using personal insults instead of rational discourse. A Constant Vegitative St

If a baby is born with a mental defect, say Down's Syndrome or some form of retardation, that's life...they never "had it any better", I guess would be the way I'd put it (for want of a better term), so they'd never miss anything. They would live, grow and die as what they are. For a person born physically and mentally normal,

Excuse me? Prove it. Your partisanship and hatred of Republicans precludes any chance of you being able to look at this without a Party hat on. I don't hate the party, I hate the actions being taken by the party right now (interfering with a clearly legal case, that has already been decided by a judge)

I love it how republicans try to pull out the morals card in this case. You can't let someone who wanted to die die, yet you want to kill people commiting sometimes petty crimes (including children).. what very very moral people you are.

Congress is overstepping its boundaries in this case. Very specifically, the courts have repeatedly ruled that the feeding tube must be removed per the husband’s wishes. I believe that she gave him a statement saying she wouldn't want to stay alive in such a condition (who would); though I think I would rather be put down than left to starve for death. In this case, I think assisted suicide would be the best case, though clearly she is not able to thin

Let me express my problems with the ANWR drilling. There is simply not enough oil there to justify the cost to the environment. I agree that, if this was a serious solution to our dependence on foreign oil, then at moderate cost to the wild life population of Alaska we can drill. There is simply not enough oil there. This is not a solution. Its a waste of land and government money, and the only people it's helping are the oil companies (when I say gove
