microsoft changed the default boot screen (it no longer says which version of XP you have), which i think is playing up with it (ill see the original boot screen for a second before my custom on displays). if you cant get in with a boot screen, go into safe mode, then turn off bootskin (ie: set it back to the default)

also, if the bootskin isnt working properly, it can cause BSoDs (forget the actual stop error), not just graphics corruption. also, changes done to Win XP in SP 2 affect bootskin (on my machine, itll show the original bootskin for a second before showing the customised one)

make sure the .bootskin file you download is .bootskin (its actually a zip file, with the extension renamed). mozilla (on my machine) likes to add .zip to .bootskin files because it recognises it as a .zip file. so just rename the zip file to .bootskin.
