yeah, if they could get bootskin to do at least 256, that would make things look a helluva lot better.. hell, 32 colours would be nicer than 16

i dont think its SP 2: mozilla on my machine managed to recognise that the .bootskin was actually a .zip file, and as such, added a .zip extension to the end of .bootskin..

did anyone have bootskin installed before they installed SP 2? cause i had an issue with bootskin after i installed SP 2 after uninstalling and reinstalling bootskin, it worked.

had PSP 4- shareware version that would tell you how long youve used it for (ie: "you are using 430 days of your 30 day trial period"), and it didnt stop you from using it.

microsoft changed the default boot screen (it no longer says which version of XP you have), which i think is playing up with it (ill see the original boot screen for a second before my custom on displays). if you cant get in with a boot screen, go into safe mode, then turn off bootskin (ie: set it back to the default)

I initially draw it up in Photoshop in highres, then reduce the size and colour in Paintshop Pro. only prob with doing it this way is that what is in photoshop and the end result in PSP can vary greatly.

also, if the bootskin isnt working properly, it can cause BSoDs (forget the actual stop error), not just graphics corruption. also, changes done to Win XP in SP 2 affect bootskin (on my machine, itll show the original bootskin for a second before showing the customised one)

make sure the .bootskin file you download is .bootskin (its actually a zip file, with the extension renamed). mozilla (on my machine) likes to add .zip to .bootskin files because it recognises it as a .zip file. so just rename the zip file to .bootskin.

only issues i have with SP2 is with bootskin, in that i see the (as of SP2, changed) default boot screen for a split second, before my custom one appears...
