For me Windows 2000 was the most stable OS, and applications rarely crashed in 2k like they do in XP. Also keep in mind that certain of your programs may not work in XP, even if they worked in 2000. Cases in mind: Norton Antivirus, McAffee Antivirus, Easy CD Creator, PC MACLAN. There may be more, but these are the ones I firsthand experienced that they don't work on XP; you will need to upgrade and buy the latest version of the above software to get it to work in XP. Hum? I have an entry for it in my "Add/Remove Programs". Haven't tried to remove it yet though. But I found that both Windowblinds and Styles XP don't conflict. At least not on my computer. In My Display properties, once is listed under the Themes tab, and the other under the Appearance tab... But, let me try to see if Uninstall works...

OK, I'm running it as we speak. Well, I'm both impressed and disapointed. Good: It's sooo easy to install and very easy to use. It's fast. It has nice plugins and more will be added as the shell gets to be more well known. The interface is well thought of. In other words, a nice, clean, productive environment. My experience with XP so far is that the system litterally never crashes, but individual apps seem to crash a lot more than it did in Win2k...

Anybody tried sharpE yet? in WinCustomize Talk WinCustomize Forums

The shell gurus out there, I read that lowdimension recently released the PR2 of sharpE (formerly sharpOS). Anybody tried it yet? I wonder how it compares to other shells, if it's easier to customize than LS, etc. It looks cool, from some screenshots I saw... Their website http://www.lowdimension.net/ seems to be down at the moment, so I don't know much about it. I was hoping somebody here could give some info about it.

Actually, allow me to disagree. 2D is a lot more productive than 3D. Oh sure, 3D is cool, but having to walk across a room, open a 3D filing cabinet to open a document or walk to the 3D library to open Word is a lot longer than just double-clicking on an icon. To use your analogy of the real environment we live in, just consider the success of the remote control (2D), as opposed to having to walk to teh telivision set to change the channels (3D)...

If I may add, sometimes a software is only as good as the support it gets. It may be true to the Mac/Windows reality (the Mac OS may be as good or superior, but there is a hell of a lot more people using and developping for Windows), and it's also true for other programs. On top of the page, in the section where you found the skin (for example the Nextstart section), you will find a brief description of the application, with appropriate links. As a general rule, you need first to install the application (for example, the NextStart program), then in the option menu of those programs, you should get something called "skins" or "themes" where you can apply more skins or themes... Well, it definatly seems to be a matter of seting your preference in your "Edit account" page. By default, I think it's set to show only skins rated 3 or above. Now, if you don't see that setting, maybe it has been changed so that people with Citizen status can't change that? I,m not sure about that though; you're sure you don't see that setting? It should be towards the bottom of the page...

And would you care to say what those WBD files are? I tried opening them in Photoshop, even removing the extension to let Photoshop detect what they are (it sometimes work with Mac files), but nope. Won't open it.

Well, rename the section to call it "Windowblinds 3" instead of "WinXP skins", which is deceiving anyway, since they are not really WinXP skins... But really, I don't understand who can design a databse that's not relational... What kind of databse programer designed the Stadock skin library in the first place? Oh well. Well, T-Man, I think you will agree that everything will start getting a lot easier to do, and a lot more things will become possible once you redisign this databse properly
