No, indeed, the checkbox isn't there in WB3. WB3 sticks in the display properties, and should remain there after restart. You mean that if yo choose a skin in the dropdown menu in the display properties, it's back to the regular blue skin after reboot? Make sure you actually shutdown the computer normally, since this is when Windows writes down your settings. If you crash or shut down improperly, Windows will not remember the last settings.

The best way to make it look like XP is to get XP. But if you want to make your computer look like all sorts of cool things, you will need the programs that the skins are made for. For example, for a Beatnik skin, you will need the Beatnik program, for Cool Player skins, you will need the Cool Player program, for Window Blnds skins you will need the Windowblinds program, etc. There are links to the prog

Oh, and a GUI interface would almost be impossible to do, since you can do anything with WMP. I guess one could include a few pre-programmed Jscript effects, some sort of a Dreamweaver for WMP, but in any acount, it would be quite a big program to make. Probably as big a program as Dreamweaver is, or bigger...

Yes, there is s SDK for it. But all it is basically is a big Help file. No GUI. A few people here can skin WMP so if you have specific questions, you can ask here, or you can even go in the Microsoft WMP newsgroup. That's where I went when I first was learning it. People are quite helpful.

fisty, do you mean you don't know where to DOWNLOAD it to? If so, you should know that the skins you find in the WinXP section here are actually Windowblinds 3 skins; and therefore you need the Windowblinds 3 program. But, independantly from what it can or can't skin, I just like the way StyleBuilder is made. It's very easy to skin with that thing. You see the shape of the bitmaps, the different states as you mouse-over, click, etc. No, really, it's extremely well thought of.

Well, I must say, it is rather nice for the user to be able to decide the size of things. It would be nice if the UIS format was flexible enough to let users decide the size of the titlabar, scrollbar, borders, etc.

I must admit that the Builder does look quite impressive. It seems to be quite complete and very well done. I will indeed have to try it out and give it a more in depth opinion later. So far, I only have good to say about the builder.

Hehehe! Yes indeed. But alex, asssuming you have installed Desktop X, and that your taskbar isn't skinned, look in the DesktopX options, somewhere there is a setting to use the Explorer taskbar or not...

About alpha support in WB (read: antialiased edges), I asked about it to Brad some little time ago, since XP now supports alpha. His answer was that although it would be cool, it's not about to happen until more people use XP, and that computers get more powerful. Apparently it would suck a lot of juice.

OK, so what kind of help do you want? Not much we can do about it, is there? Uninstall 2001b and reinstall the former version, or wait a little bit, a new version of ICQ Plus is about to come out with 2001b support.
