Unix is a proprietary Operating System, Linux was developped as an open source similar alternative to Unix and yes you can download for free. There are many flavours of Linux. The most popular ones being Red Hat, Mandrake and Suse.  It's a huge download though. You can buy them in a box for a reasonable prie (it's 4 or 5 CD's and includes hundreds of software).

Note that I mentionned Linux, but it's also true if you want to install any non-NT based system (ex: Windows 98).
If the only OS you will ever use is a Windows NT based system, then by all means you should switch to NTFS. But if you have or plan to install Linux as a dual boot option, your NTFS partition won't be recongnised by Linux. In that case, I recommend partitionning your disc where your Windows system and all your main Windows applications are on one NTFS partition and your documents, works, art, etc, are on a separate FAT32 partition. You can then install and run Linux on a third partition and stil

Hum, DWatson, open a new thread about this, as this is far from the original request.  Or just email me.
Just tell me if the hosting server supports ASP or PHP and I'll send you the script by email.
Then it has to be either PHP or ASP. You don't want to do it in javascript and have the username and password written for anybody to just read it in the source. Your whole site doesn't need to be PHP or ASP, just that one login page. If it's hosted on a Windows machine, then it probably supports ASP, while if it's hosted on Linux it probably supports PHP.  In either case, it's a very simple script.
Re #25: Depends on a lot of things... What language? ASP or PHP?  Is your site hosted on Linux or Windows?  Do you have multiple account to authenticate or just one username/password? Do you have a database or users or do you want to set the username and password to check for in the script itself? Re #26: I assume the text of your site is in the HTML not in a database, therefore searching is more difficult. I would suggest to simply implement a Google search box fo
I'm not anti-MS. I just don't see why I should fix what isn't broken. I see no point in SP2 so I won't risk (even a small risk) to have things stop working for no reason.
Well, I understand that he doesn't understand what Uzee doesn't understand. You understand?
OK, my invites just came in. A got a few to send out. Who still wants one?
I totally agree.  Furthermore, from experience, I have found a weird fact that I cannot explain: the people who pay the least (or not at all) are often the most demanding ones.  I build web sites for a living. Have been for 9 years. Once in a while I given freebies, either to friends, acquientances, family, friends of friends, friends of family members, etc. I've always given them a quality product, it's not like I half-ass a job when I do it for free.  But much to my surprise, t
If you already have SystemWorks, Clean Sweap is a good pogram.  If you don't, don't buy it just for that, use Reg Seeker.
Made IE crash wit a bang.
Lindows was an interesting project when it promised to run Windows applications, but right now Linspire is just like a bad version of Red Hat.
Funny video though.
What will be the point of Longhorn then? They should just delay the release and deliver it complete, not crippled of its most interesting features...
Just disable it.   I don't get no annoying Windows Update thingy in my systray.  I hate that thing.
No problem. Every pro was a newbie once.
Well, I can see the difference between a search and an email. Most people don't really care if what they search for is monitored. My point is more like: do you use spam filters? A lot of ISPs, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, etc, all scan keywords of your emails for spam. No difference.
Furthermore, with ICO's OD should give you better performance.
My advice to you Mojjo: uninstall SP2.  But that's just me, others would disagree.
