Excellent advice Karma Girl, One more thought to finding a place to reside. If it's impossible to get an apartment, and you live in a temperate climate, another option is a trailer. I know the stigma that goes with that thought, but it has a roof, usually costs little to own and less to rent, most areas that have trailer parks, will have people selling older trailers for little money.and there are always inexpensive rentals available. Like Karma said check with the local government to fi

Kona, Look closely at the user contracts to find the phone that's best for you. Make sure there are no hidden costs for things like talking out of your area. Find out which companies your family and friends use, and base your decision partly on that. Some companies allow cell to cell calls free if both are on the same network. Also be careful of those "3500" free minutes. There are so many stipulations for recieving those minutes, half the time you think you're using those minutes and

/me shakes her head.. funny how the mind ignores one fact while focusing on another. reminds me of that email that went around , where one letter was missing out of a paragraph, but your mind auto-inserts the missing letter, and you can't "see" where anything's wrong with the paragraph.

remember seeing somewhere dell was selling a computer in the 500 dollar price range. If you're budget minded , and don't mind refurb, Dell has a great "outlet" link on their website. Last spring I got my dimension 2300 there for $420.. They upgrade the refurbs to the best possible configuration, so you get a great deal. I couldn't be happier wi

Purchasing a subscription does not earn you the title of Apprentice Link explains the user classes Thanks everyone who filled me in on that. My lack of WC knowledge is positively baffling. you'd think after being here for two and a half years I'd have learned something useful by now. unfortunately for me, usually when I come in here, I am eit

I contribute to the message boards when I can, but am not literate in how to create skins and things,so I would never reach apprentice level without purchase(which might still happen in 2004)I think however that the paid subscribers should not be listed as apprentice which suggests skills some subscribers will never have (like me). I really don't want a title, but would love to get rid of the "citizen" tag. It smacks of "Animal Farm" and I keep waiting to hear the word "comrade" used. <i

Just home from the inlaws (long ride... lol they live next door, of course we had to cross the "pond" to get to them, lovely "warm snow" fell all day it's only 50degrees here!), had a lovely christmas eve family gathering. Hubby had to work tonite, last nite of the midnight shift... ugh! So guess who is helping santa out tonite?...I get to wrap three computers!! wahoo!!(Thank God for Ebay!) Spent all last evening putting OS' on them. Now relaxing and wishing I had a bottle of Baileys to relax wi

While I'd love to debate this further, we're wasting valuable space here. Suffice to say I disagree with your view of the ratings. I think I pay plenty. I think the subscription to this website should be integrated with the rest of the stardock OD and subscription prices adjusted accordingly. I think any kind of rating system that can be utilized by only SOME of the people who use the actual skins is a biased rating and won't ever be a true representation of the skinner's skills and artistic ta

oh ya, you might want to copy and paste that link into notepad prior to changing the #, leastwyse until the libraries are back up.

Odd Tombalaci, that you use the word "dingbats" when referring to those with the ability to rate skins, especially as the only ones who have that ability right now are the elite few in ranking positions. They're also the ones "abusing" the ratings. I'm sure you're one of those who feel we cits should not be able to post comments either. *Shrug* Bummer huh?

I am a paying Stardock customer, Essencay. I have considered adding the $20. wincustomize subscription service to the almost $40. I pay now to renew my OD subscription, but I find it difficult to want to pay for a subscription to a website that is supposedly part of stardock, in fact is linked to in all the stardock products, but wants to charge me $20. to access the ability to express my opinion of the craftsmanship of a skin. If this website wants to be part of stardock, why not just rais

jeremyG has it right, two tier rating would also help the artist to know where he/she could improve their work, or expand on it. I think that the ability to rate someone's work should be permitted to the people who are downloading and using the skins, even if it's a seperate ranking system from the one the "apprentices" and "higher" are using. After all , we're using these skins on a daily basis. Seems wrong to allow only the elite few choose who gets what rank...But hey, the elect

Just redownloading all my OD components after a big system crash/virus removal(aren't click happy kids fun?), and noticed webblinds is missing from my list of components.I would ask if it's obsolete but I've noticed that the wb skins that say they have webblinds capability , aren't altering the ie icons at all...any ideas? <A HREF="https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&NewsID

some of us "citizens" like the occasional child-like walls. why? well we have kids who would prefer to see colourful, or cartoon-like(not necessarily "bugsbunnyesque") and, sometimes we want something different than abstract chrystal style splashes. I personally prefer the quality of wc, but get bored with seeing the same style over and over. before you all flame me, know I am not criticizing wc's mo

First line of defense is yourself, do not open Email with attachments unless you are absolutely certain you know who and where it came from. Even then, be alert and suspcious.
