Thanks, maybe we will get more of a response and some help. Don't seem to be getting too far yet. Maybe I need a bath. Can't be my breath, went to the dentist yesterday.

Your reply really had me laughing. Your right about the spirt of Christmas. Others need to be included in all this fun we are having. I feel rather hoggish over this.
Read that the final 3.1 will include an "XPPowerUser Skin" that uses the Smartbar. It may well be that the reason it won't work yet is because they haven't finished implementing it. Hopefully it will come out soon and we will be able to see if that is the "cure all".
Just downloaded Windowblind 3.09a, and no txt info on smartbars. This has been like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I really liked your idea of trying it in another skin (hadn't thought of that, duh!). Well, maybe the result will give you another idea. I've tried everything I can think of.
Did the above and it went spastic. Had to go to safemode to fix it. Then went back and added the info about the smartbar and the extra button with smart.dll. Brought it up just fine, but the programs still launched in Object Edit. Put this info in the uis if you want to experiment at that end: [SmartBar0] Name=Quick Launch Menu DLL=quickl.wbp WIDTH=24 Enabled=0 [SmartBar1] Name=url Button DLL=url.wbp WIDTH=24 Enabled=0 [Butto
None, other than that one. Where did you see the preview article? I will do a search of it. I'm interested in seeing what it covers. Maybe the solution to this lies within.
It all boils down to the original matter. When I use the smartbar button, that menu brings up the programs in Object Edit. When I use the new menu button I have added, everything works as it should. Thought about emailing Stardock and have them explain the Smartbar bit since apparently that is where I am having the problem. But, on the other hand, if it worked for you then I just don't know.
I know what you mean about the confusion. It doesn't make sense to me either that the items on the menu don't work for me. I'm glad to know that it works for you though. It works great now the way it was done above though, so it is just as good that way I guess. If you have any more ideas though, we can still try to lick it the other way too (if you still want to mess with it that is).
Good news! Got it figured out. Looked at two blinds that had the WinMenu. Did an extra graphic piece. Placed the name in the UIS. Then I read the WinMenu info on the site I gave you. It mentioned going into the registry. I did a search on my hard drive for the registry. Something in the Windowblinds file came up too (an info txt). Read it and it mentioned that you had to replace the new dll in skin(s) that had the old one. Anyway, my button worked and it brought up one item. The text
I just threw the c:\program files, etc. in the uis to see if it made a difference, but of course, it didn't. In other words, it is now just a laundry list of where my executables are on my c: drive, which after you read the winmenu example, will probably help in resolving this matter. Have been toying with this thing most of the morning and am still going nowhere. All I have accomplished is becoming glued to the chair. Found two more skins with the winmenu thing in them and am going
No. Found this address for the WinMenu - www.stardock.net/people/wbstuff/plugin/winmenu.html. It gives an example of configuration. I tried adding the extra button for the winmenu plugin, etc., but it still opens up in Object Edit. You have the areas, i.e. c:\program files\(etc) in my uis. Maybe you can configure it and I will try your configuration. I've certainly haven't had any success with it. I'm sure you can better understand what their example is doing.
Did the extra button using the same specs you gave. It didn't even bring up the menu. Think we should start a new thread on the menu item?
Tried removing the WBWinMenu.dll. Nothing new happened, just the same old story - launched the programs in Object Edit. I will try the extra button bit and get back to you on it. It would help if we knew if someone else had the same problem with the Menu bit. At least then we would know if it is the plugin.
Just a lot of stuff you can't read in English. Get the same thing in the second window. I can't find how to view the file extensions for OE. When you first install it it comes up with associate file extensions, but other than that I can't find it. I never added any, just went with the ones they had checkmarked. In the file folder itself, it has asp.syn, bas.syn, c.syn, etc. (I guess they are syntax files).
Did a search for the "thumbs.db and it shows up in "c:program files\ObjectDesktop\Objectbar\WinXPCopper\XPStartPanel. Nothing comes up when I do a search for "thumbs.db.lnk." Tried bringing "thumbs.db" up in Notepad, but nothing English shows up, just a lot of unreadable stuff. Still no, to a dual startup (actually this is the first time I've heard that you can have two different startups - interesting). Makes sense though. Hopefully this has shed some more light on the subj
Did you get my email on the results? If not, I will re-state here (but if you did this will be a re-run). I Did all that you mentioned and everything worked fine. And, when I went to the menu on the Windowblind, the shortcut to Notepad was there too. However, on the menu list appeared an extra shortcut of "thumbs.db". I don't even have a shortcut for a "thumbs.db" and don't even know what it is, let alone how it got there. Also, Notepad too, (like the other four), opened up in Stardock's O
Had to print out your last message so I could try them all. I will get back with you.
Yes, the launch thing works. But only two out of the five that show up with the blind. Got to thinking about it and was wondering. When you use my blind, does the menu work for you? If so, it has got to be a problem here somewhere, somehow, some - some - some, oh my. On the Winamp thing, my last set of graphics was based on the sizes from HeavyEquipment windowblind. Originally did them to the size specs with Bluetoast but then ran into the problem with the button bit. So I
Found the folder for the shortcut. When I go into each one they work just fine. However, they won't work with the button on the Windowblind. As for Winamp, yes it makes sense. However I went into several different skins and they seem to do the same thing. Redid the graphics twice, both times resizing to match the one I was trying to follow and it seemed to be the same. Checkout Heavy Equipment. That is the last one I used to resize and it does the same thing as mine. The only dif
I am re-sending it now (10:00 a.m. our time which I guess puts it 11:00 your time) to the mail to address given in your first email. They are in zip format. There are 3 attachments. It has finished being sent. You should now have them.
I sent it yesterday. Shows in my sent folders that it was sent. I attached it to the previous email. If there is still a problem and you didn't get it, let me know.
I have foud that Skin Studio lets you incorporate the Webblinds with the Windowblinds, i.e., so the Windowblinds include the info for the webblinds. All you have to do when you are in IE Explorer is go into tools, web blind settings, and it brings up a list of different skins you can load.
Thanks. I'm one of the newbees at this. Seeing all the neat skins done is sometimes intimidating, but it is still fun to try. Don't expect to be able to compare to the greats, but still like doing it. Its really neat when you meet new people too!
Don't believe you failed English 3 times (not with all your knowledge). Good news, the buttons lined up and Winamp is a done deal (feel like singing). Had to do with my last graphic piece. I was trying to do three pieces spearately and finally figured out I needed to incorporate and layer them. Think that was why I had the problem the first go around. Just got through running errands and have an hour to kill before things start spinning around here so thought I would check
