I hate the fact European Steam users have to pay more for the exactly same digital copy than American.
While I'm here, that's another myth. SOME games European users pay more. Some games are cheaper for European users. http://steamreview.org/posts/localisedprices/ Mind you that was in 2008. I doubt I could find a more recent ex

I had some fun with the public tests, am waiting for the release. :)
Direct2Drive was decent... until it got bought out by GameFly. Now it's pretty much a disaster. And in the process I (and many others) lost access to games we had purchased on D2D because GF doesn't want to support them. Kind of everyone's worst-case scenario for Steam or Impulse. Needless to say, GameFly will never get my business, given their piratical business model and the presence of much better options.
I can vouch for Gunnars. I don't usually use mine because they don't match my awkward prescription, but when I do my eyes don't dry out or get pained (which I usually avoid by just moving the monitor back farther, which doesn't work for long sessions.)
Windows 8 is more efficient than 7, so why would you need new hardware? Still on XP?
14.99 for Win8? To quote from the movie 'The Castle'....."tell 'em they're dreamin' "
It's actually a MS offer last I heard. Instead of giving people the free upgrade in advance they're making it a 'bonus offer.' Which definitely makes sense for them especially given how popular 7 is and 8 so far isn't.
Savyg - In what sense do you mean 'perform'? I'm genuinely curious. Can you actually talk and chew gum at the same time with Metro8? Thx.
Why would I need to? I still spend almost all my time in the desktop, just like everyone else. Though the WinRT apps are definitely responsive unlike the CP. Still not going to be everyones cup of tea.
Lessons From Win 8 RP: One of the long-term objectives of Windows 8 is kill off the "weakest members of the herd" so to speak - meaning all those pesky 32-bit, single core and Core2 Duo machines that are a complete waste of time... UNFAIR!? Haven't seen any Macs for sale at Apple.com with 32-bit processors since... Sarah Palin played the flute...
Says who? There's still a 32 bit version of the OS
Ya'll know my opinion, but these 'features removed' lists tend to ignore that they were often either replaced or never actually used. They're usually irrelevant to 95% of Windows users. He was banging on the same drum about Vista and 7 and wishes we were all still on XP. The RP performs better than I expected, it's awesome. Still some unexpected compatibility glitches though.
I for one think the original poster sounds very reasonable. (S)He's not asking everyone to boycott the game, just stating that it includes something (s)he has issues with the industry doing and therefore no matter its quality (s)he will not play it. I think that's a good idea, and in fact I refuse to play most military hooters because i have political issues with them.
But they're not asking if they should play it.
I will note that the Flash update from the website will often install Chrome unless you specifically tell it not to. Not exactly stealthed, but not something everyone would notice either. I use Chrome myself, but I will consider IE10 if it performs well.
I was thinking about Torchlight 2 vs Diablo..and I was saying to myself..D3 might end up being a very good game but my values as a gamer are violated by the always on internet and real money auction house. So even if D3 ends up being as good as d2 I'll never play it and no one else should either. Whoa...what was that last part? Thats the question. If a game violates core values is it ok for other people to play it? Other are enablers of said broken

At least I know that the remaining ram can be used to run other programs instead gobling up all of remaining ram, whatever I am not using.
64 bit apps do use more memory but they don't magically use all of it. They use as much as the game needs, just like 32 bit apps.

I played a month of that when it first came out, and liked it, but not quite enough to keep paying monthly. Turns out, most people thought the same way, and they couldn't turn a profit. Then they went F2P as an experiment, and started making money hand over fist. The trick was, the core game is
Exactly. We can't have everything so we should have that which serves the purpose best.
We CAN have everything! Just as soon as we ditch 32 bit. That is the point. Hell, by your own analogies, 32 bit is what we're choosing to get rid of so that we can have everything else.
You know what else we can't have? Gigantic maps. Minor factions. More impressive late game cities. More random events. More creatures. It is not just one thing we can't have because of 32 bit limitations.
So you're advocating they put in less stuff to give you more value? I really can't parse this. Perhaps I should go to sleep instead. Mass Effect 3 multi til 4 in the morning is awesome. [e digicons]:D[/e]
Out of curiosity, how much do you consider this also a design issue rather than just a memory limitation issue? Elemental uses stuff that takes up a lot of memory. I assume all the equipment is shown on the units, in the sense that a unit that is given a red cloak also shows a red cloak on the strategic map. Isn't that a huge drain on memory? Or is the main drain something else than the bodies & equipment? Could
It's sad but not a shocker. KoA was a good game but it was definately not a great game IMO. And an MMO...yeah no. I probably wouldn't have given it a second look...or possibly even a first.
If it was used today, Blizzard would not fuck over most of their users with D3. We would not pay them 60$ (or euros if from EU) to play in singleplayer with 200+ ping.
No, you'd end up paying hundreds, because it would've been designed to make you spend money if you really want to play. Just like every other F2P game.
But if most of the best games coming out were F2P you would not have a choice. You only do this because F2P model hasn't yet taken off properly
If that ever happens I'll worry about it.
F2P has some great products, but its really hard to get into more than one. I play Battleforge myself and have spent more than my share on it, but other F2P games come along and you know, I'd rather keep playing Battleforge instead. Even though I feel like I've spent more than enough time and money on it, I'd have a hard time investing in another game unless it was actually better. Whereas I still buy tons of normal games. So I don't doubt the F2P
So the Men look kinda the same and the Fallen look very similar as well because of RAM limitations! I never thought that....I thought it was because you insisted on making an original world with original races. If I have interpreted what you said correctly, then why didn't you ever say that when criticism of the sameness of the races first surfaced?
I would think they were busy with all the other

Right on. I recommend Trinity (AMD A10) machines for cheap...they're not technically out yet but they just got the review batches out, I imagine it'll be next month systems will start popping up.
