Upgrading...rock on in Personal Computing Stardock Forums

Athlon X2 4200+ with 4 gigs and a 4850 to Core i7 920 with 6 gigs and a 4850 (for now, plan to put a 5850 and an X-Fi in there. And soon enough an SSD.)

I will add that you can use Gamespys Comrade to install D2D games now and all that jazz, so they're taking baby steps in the right direction. (Too bad there isn't a legit piece of software in the universe I'd rather use any less than Comrade, but hell...at least its progress.) Major congrats though! I would prefer to use Impulse more than Steam, but reality would prefer I didn't yet.

I believe your numbers are just as made up as any I could bring to the table. I respect female gamers, and I would rather see services such as Impulse step up their offerings for female gamers than start changing their interface to cater to an unknown. I know one indie dev who makes girl games who told me they'd been ignored when they shopped around to Impulse and Steam. (If I had to throw a guess out there, it's because their products aren't ESRB rated

Steam has integrated voice chat and IM stuff, the blogs are seperate from the forums, reinstalling everything onto a new machine is a lot easier...IMO as far as usability it's got Impulse beat for a while yet, but I'd take Impulse anyday.

I have no real overriding preference but I like Bing just based on the random pics and info it shows me on the front page. I learn things. Things I may not actually care about, but they're interesting nonetheless. When I'm trying to find things that aren't relatively easy to find, I usually prefer using Google. Maybe I'm just more used to it.

I don't think MS can really compete. They have no exclusives. They have no driving force for their client. Just because it's Microsoft isn't going to make people buy from it when for all anyone can tell they've abandoned PC gaming (aside from DX and GfWL.)

The only part of the complaint I find valid is the loooooong game intro shouldn't be unskippable. Otherwise it's rinse and repeat complaints from 9000 other games.

I don't mind stores not carrying adult content in general. It could get ridiculous. I just wish digital distributors didn't get held to the same standard, when it's easier to be sure users are actually the relevant age to be seeing it. In general, censorship isn't a huge deal to me. I understand the reasoning enough. But when you've got games that are barely all that far away from AO already and the boundaries on what is acceptable are obviously

They're the only ones though.

Ya know, some of it is just generational trends. If you look up Generation X and Y you'll understand a little bit more about who's pushing for more acceptance and less censorship in America (I'm right at the tail end of X myself, but I share more in common with Y anyway from what I recall.) On the other side of the same coin, if we ever ended up like Japan wrt adult materials, I'd be kind of disturbed. Seems like they went a leetle overboard.

The SP basically consists of skirmishes and a tournament mode that emulate multiplayer. It's not deeply fleshed out, but it is enjoyable. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it only for that unless you're getting a really good deal...myself I play it with my brother when he comes home. :)
