Well hey. This is the first time on my end I've actually liked a Google app. I don't expect perfection from betas of course, bot for now I'm using it.

Considering they had one seperate from their main app, I wouldn't say they have inexperience. What the best antivirus is is an opinion that varies from person to person, so I think it's safe to say any of the top ten or so will do well for most people. Myself, I'll stick with AVG until I get a reason not to. Although 8.0 started out a lot buggier than I expected it to, it's still done alright by me in general. As to NOD32, th
In all honesty, I haven't seen a modern rootkit that couldn't easily get past AVG without even breaking a sweat.
AVG 7.5 didn't have any built in rootkit detection, 8.0 does though. I'd be surprised if it had that problem.

I'll worry about my PCs security once I start getting senile and doing stuff like 'running two software firewalls to be more secure' and telling people I have 4 megabytes of RAM. Owait, that's my dad. Hmm. He used to be computer savvy...now I guess he's just too into gardening or whatever the heck he does with his time. Ahem anyway, you guys might not be so amused to know how many hotels I've worked at that did not even have their anti

Amazes me that Impulse went with ie7....wait one....the Vista deal with MS...oh well...
Stardock already explained why they used IE7. It can be easily embedded in an application, and FF can't. And it's hard to honestly say 'MUCH faster' when you haven't even tried the alt

These forums are working fine for me in Impulse, I haven't tried externally...but there's a Compatibility Mode button for anything that isn't working right. As for password manager, yes IE has one, even if it doesn't operate the same way. My email is in mainly on the Gmail site so I don't have all that crap cluttering my hard drive...but I do use the Windows Live Mail desktop client for my other email account. Yarr. It's been a while s

Since there isn't a porn browser version of IE, I'm not surprised you haven't tried it. I admit I'll miss Paste and Go but in general IE just has more usability than Opera. If nothing else, simply because the plugin writers and web developers take it seriously. Now that IE has actually made a push on performance I can see going back to it.

Mercs 1 I just picked up on a whim because Best Buy still had it out. Never had the original Xbox. I thought it was probably the best original Xbox game I've ever seen. So I have my copy preordered on the PC too. :) Glad they're releasing the PC ver at the same time...that's just excellent.

I can say that for the first time in a really long time I'm considering leaving Opera. I've been using it a few hours so far and it's definately good. What are your thoughts?

This is greatly help out the dial up connections out there.
Hallelujah. I know they're on the way out but in the meantime I'm not makin enough to move outta here :p

You can certainly do many things in DX9 that can be done in DX10, but there are some things you definately can't. By and large they haven't mattered to anyone yet, but that's partially because there weren't enough Vista users with DX10 cards to justify the extra work. Now it's definately getting there, but it's still an uphill battle. Most of the interesting DX10 work so far has been in MMOs such as LOTRO and soon Age of Conan, where the single player games using it usually have a few

I left my pitchfork in my other pants. And finally preordered. GPG makes some odd titles (I never finish any of them, though I almost did DS1 before I lost my saves) but I still love them. :)

I'm all about Facebook myself. Their page style is somewhat minimalist which I respect...every time I've seen Myspace the pages looked terrible with hundreds of pictures of random people who may or may not be friends and bleh. Yeah, I get it, you have a billion friends. That hardly means I want to see them all. Before Facebook, I couldn't imagine myself signing up to one of these social network sites. Now, I can't imagine myself leaving Facebook. :D

It's not working for me either, seems like since the last Patch Tuesday (for Windows,) on XP x64. Same problem. I wasn't even using the PatchGuard update either, since it screwed with Alcohol 120%, so thats not it. (I am now though, since there was a new SPTD release that fixed that.)

I've been wondering for a bit, when I talked to support they said the ~SRV in my SIR meant something wasn't working, yet I've only had one build that didn't work...and the SIR claims 'WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.' So what the heck does SRV do? (I'm sure it's the Windowblinds Service, but I'm just not sure what it does.)
