I'am on Charter cable and the service Tech told me that all the internet providers were going to eventually put caps on the downloads as there are to many people using the internet. Seems they are running out of bandwidth so they will be limiting people so everyone will beable to be serviced. Charter hasn't done that yet.
You're wrong on several counts by the way. It's well known that providers who use caps are o

What's worth a new OS would depend on the person using it. The stability and reliability improvements are all I needed to give it the thumbs up, though I love the Reliability and Performance Monitor. As for me, the only OS upgrade MS has put out (since the 9x era) that I probably didn't need was XP x64. I had it and definately liked it, but I really didn't need it.
I don't care how hard or complicated it is, in fact for space games...I can't tell you how long I played Freelancer and I REALLY wanted something more complicated. But the AI can't suck. X3 just doesn't deliver on the AI front.
Assuming that the preloading of apps was the only difference in the OS, that statement would be valid. But focusing on that and not acknowledging any of the other benefits of the OS is a bit ignorant.
Graphics, sound, maps, game logic, movies, the usual stuff.
I wish I could preorder it but GPGs recent history is a little blood spattered. I'm a fan who recently decided sitting on the fence is worth more to me than preordering things all the time. (That doesn't actually just apply to GPG, but anyway. :p ) But it does sound pretty dang cool. I hope to own it soon. :)
I didn't care for it either. The autopilot AI has always seemed completely freaking braindead. Even if that's my only hangup...well, seriously. It's a pretty damn big hangup. I have both X3 titles and I have never been able to play more than an hour or two of either title.
I will be the first Vista lover to come out and say they launched it in a pretty unusable state. I've been using it since before it launched, and three months after launch it was better than XP. They needed to extend the beta period, if for nothing else to get peoples launch drivers up to standards...not to mention a few of the performance killing bugs at launch could've been worked out and less bitching would've ensued. XP was less usable at launch as far as I'm concerned
RE Spore sales: this analyst believes that it will take EA five years --and a bunch of expansion packs -- to recover their investment in Spore.
It says internal estimates, not the analysts estimates. Even if that is true, the game will make money in the long run.
I imagine they were doing some more coding on the Impulse client before adding more titles. They did go several months without much added, seemed like it must have been intentional. However, I admit I'd like to see a lot more, and wonder what happened myself.
So Spore has sold 2 million, and cost $30-40 million. I think typically devs see about $15 / unit on full-price items ($30 wholesale less publishing fees). That means if every unit sold was at full-price then we're talking wholesale revenue of about $60 million ($30 * 2,000,000). Split down the middle for EA and their RIO is $30 million. Not too encouraging, probably only just covers their investment in development and ma
As much as people love to bitch about EA, how many publishing labels actually make all that much money? I don't like some of their operations but I'm all for success in American businesses right now, and EA (unlike several European publishers) hasn't been pissing me off. They've gotten quite a few unique franchises pushed out that I'm really interested in since that new guy took over, and I'm impressed. The only thing I give a great big 'meh' to is the Need
Oh yeah, EA Sports....yeah, forgive my blinders since I never have and never will play sports games. I forgot about em.
I'm all about D-Link personally. The Linksys routers I've used work great and have good technology, but they tend to flake out after a few years.
I wouldn't bet on either company going out of business, and it's fairly ridiculous to even suggest it. The doomsday thinkers can just yap all they like.
You must be kidding. Maxis makes more money than any other department in EA. Since he's still working for them, of course they aren't sad to see him go. Spore and the Sims franchises are cash cows, it doesn't matter how much money they throw into development because they'll easily make it back.
This conversation makes me yearn for the days when people had better things to do than hang out in forums.......owait
The game of Monopoly is about as interesting as a pile of dead rats. I'm not confusing anything. Other companies may not be able to offer the same service in the same manner, but they can still offer the same service.
You can, but if other people CAN offer service there and just haven't, it isn't a monopoly in any meaningful way. In the basic definition of the term, yes, but as far as I'm concerned not really. To me, a monopoly has to be enforced one way or another and not just there due to an underserved market.
Just because a provider is the only one with the infrastructure to service one area still doesn't make them a monopoly. They may have control over servicing that area, but they don't control the entire market. Anyone who puts up a tower is immediate competition. Since 3G internet is relatively new (and not all that anyway, I'm all about WiMax and LTE) the old argument is still out there in force because for a long time it was true...there was barely any competition in a lot
I'm all about Burnout Paradise. then prolly Red Alert 3 cause the coop mode is pretty dang cool Then...then...then...hmm. I dunno yet. I haven't played Sins yet so I'm obviously on the fence there. I'll have Assault on Dark Athena in a few days...Sims 3 is out this year which should be cool... Ahh hell, lets stick with LOTRO for #3 since I have a lifetime account.
What monopoly? There's only one company you can get CABLE internet from? So get internet from someone else. Alltel, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T all offer wireless data plans, which means the cable company does not have any sort of monopoly. Calling a service a monopoly when other companies offer the same services is ridiculous.
I will always prefer online activation to CD checks, personally. Since I buy most of my games digitally though, never have to worry bout CD checks.
So we both have the same opinion we started with...which is actually a very similar opinion anyway. What ar we arguing about again? :) Ubisoft is way too dense. They keep trying something different, horribly screwing it up, then fixing their mistake later after nobody cares anymore and saying 'look at how bad our PC sales are'.....duh.
Because it's a single application. You can't just uninstall it without taking ALL of it. If you have other games that use it, they're all now not working right. Most people would find that unacceptable.
