How would modern cars be up and running if the engines computers would be, essentially, short-circuited? This would take a replacement of that part to be fixed, and that would take months alone, first fixing enough military and government vehicles (assumedly), and then enough food and medicine transportation.
NK doesn't have a device big enough to black out the US.
Didn't say NK would be the ones to initiate the attack, simply that the current situation with NK is what inspired me to look into nuclear war, which is how I came upon EMP.
While there has been some mention of protecting military electronics to some degree in what I have found, I have not found any proof that the civilian infastructure would be any less vulnerable.
It seems to me that both of you are essentially on the same page but saying it very different ways?
Possible.
gee.......sounds like the apocalypse to me.
Suppose that depends on what you consider the apocalypse to be... some believe it to be more spiritual than physical.
With the current situation with North Korea, and their threats of using nuclear power, I began to do a little bit of research into nuclear detonation. I ran across a lesser known (at least I haven't read about it in any news articles, or mentioned by any sort of media thus far....) nuclear weapon known as Electromagnetic Pulse, (EMP). EMP is actually the result of a nuclear explosion at high-altitudes, above the earth's atmosphere. The higher the magnet
Wow Nitro... that's three times now you have attempted to twist what I have said. Way to attempt to paint me as a supporter of socialism...
Do you feel socialism equalizes people? Maybe the masses, but there will always be someone better than equal .
That was exactly my point, thus the "more equal" than others comment. Which, again, is in reference to the book Animal Farm . If you still are
That 5% can afford to leave anytime they want to. Not saying they will as that group includes some of the very people driving the US toward socialism.
Why would they want to leave if they are "more equal?" (In reference to Animal Farm, in which some animals were more equal than others, therefore receiving more benefits/rations, etc.)
Because the wealthy are keeping the nation afloat and are good for the economy. So the question begs to be answered......why and when would ever be a good time to tax (extra) the top 5% if they are helping the economy?
Who would like to bet that if our country was to fall into socialism, that exact 5% would be the "more equal?"
though I don't believe an armed revolution is quite necessary
If people would wake up today, and throw off their apathy, then it probably wouldn't be necessary. However, right now, it would take something extreme to wake up the majority of Americans, and something that extreme would probably only be overturned by an armed revolution. That's just a personal perception of the current situation though.
All from the right, how interesting. People can turn off the TV or radio, they can't turn off their politicians (ex: Pelosi).
Being in the reddest state in the nation, they are the names that I hear most often on the radio around here. Would have been democrats if their names had popped into my head.
Where were the calls to stop polarization just a year ago?
I spoke against them... have since high school. However, I am, by far,
True, but what is really sad is that rather than facing the current administration, you would rather continue to let them get away with rapping this country and wait for the next election to teach them a lesson. Yes our Gov't is corrupt, but what do we do, accpet the current administration and just wait till we get another chance to stick it to them in the next elections? When your life is on the line, do you wait for an opportunity to save yourself or do you make that opportunit
Hmm... okay... So assuming that a work phone is around $50.00 a month. (This may be high, or low, it's really not the point I am about to attempt to make.) A quarter of $50.00 is 12.50, and the average tax on cell phone services is about 6.9%. So that would be an increase of $.86 per month. Why are you trying to sensationalize that? Oh, and Obama is a politican. He lied. Bush lied. OUR GOVERNMENT IS CORRUPT, and full
He's still as popular as ever.
And she's more popular than before making that statement. :D
Yes Lula... that has been my point all along...
Do you think Letterman will get fired for making very rude and offensive comments directed at Sarah Palin's daughter?
All I have heard on the matter is second-hand, so I don't know enough to answer. Doesn't he have his own show though? Kind of hard to be fired from your own show...
I mean look at what else is said and done in Hollywood and nothing else gets this much coverage.
Actually, it does. For instance, Tom C
In fact, if I remember correctly Miss RI had alot more eye opening pictures taken of her that made Carrie's look very tame. Nothing was said about that, but then Miss RI didn't make such an "offensive" comment either.
See, this is it exactly. If you make a comment about your beliefs, you should be able to back them up with acts. Otherwise you are no better than the Pharisees, worshipping in public for attention, but dead inside. So because s
Though you have "called the debate quits," I am going to respond anyway. 1. We are talking about the Christian belief in the God as he is described in the Bible, (as being eternal). This OF COURSE doesn't factor in buddhism, taoism, etc. 2. As for the "inside/outside" the box thing, I don't think it's really clicking for you. There doesn't need to be a structure outside of the box that is anything remotely like ours. All I am saying is that time (w
You have to think outside the box here Alderic. If we take God out of the equation, then there is nothing in our universe that is eternal. There is always a beginning and an end of everything, no matter how long that takes. It may seem eternal to us, since our lifespans are extraordinarily short compared to stars, or the life cycle of a planet, but there is a beginning and an end. In this way, yes, there is always some sort of creator. However, the God that y
Understood. It's funny you wrote this, because just this morning I was listening to the news, and they were reporting on an investigation into the FAA ATOS inspections. It was discovered that the FAA had ignored 450 safety recommendations based on previous crashes. Some recommendations are from 10-15 years ago. So if we have airlines flying under safety regulations that are extremely outdated, in addition to undertrained pilots, then yes, I would agree tha
Eternal is a word used in connection with time... then you use it whatever way you want.
If you can words however you want, they tend to become blurred, and lose their meaning. So I don't agree with you there. The word eternal describes a state in which their is no time. The opposite of time/cycle/progression. That is the only way it can be used in connection in time. Much like "dark" can only be used in connection with "light" as a
I'm not trying to prove there is a God, Alderic. I'm simply saying that an eternal God, (the God that Lula is trying to prove) would exist outside "first" "beginning" "creation" "end," in the realm of eternal (lack of time) which is a realm that we cannot use time to explain. (Which is what you both were doing.) Eternal is OUTSIDE the paradigm of time, therefore an eternal being would not have a creator, as "creation" implies a beginning. Only INSIDE the pa
How so? Maybe in a theological stand point, but then again if eternity is an infinite amount of time, how can it be timeless?
LoL, as I said, eternity is not an infinite amount of time... it is the non-existence of time.
Maybe, I'm still skeptical though that a God would give us the skills to use reason, etc...and yet the tools we have that show a belief in a being as flawed or whatever - would be wrong.
I'm not exactly sur
Alderic, I believe a better way to think of the possibility of a God in this way: If the universe, and everything within it was created by God as it was described in the Bible (whether taken literally or not), then with that creation came the existence of "beginning" and "end." Before the creation of our universe, there was no such thing as beginning or end, as life or death. If a being created time, that being would also exist outside of it, even when choosing to deal ins
I don't understand how the Republicans (or any party) are to blame for this? You didn't really elaborate upon that.
